In Pasanga 2 Surya just made a guest appearance but the impact and presence was immense.Contrary to that movie Surya is in almost all the frames but as far as I am concerned the story doesn't touch you apart from the scene between Saranya and Surya(nice one). The cause for the feud between the twin brothers is not well established. Athreya's hatred for his brother that too his twin doesn't have any logic. Remember "Vaali" the siblings hatred for his brother was v well established there. There are many characters played by sathyan, samantha, nithya menon, girish karnad etc but they don't have enough scenes to make their presence felt. Can't understand why Mithran, Athreya's right hand doesn't want to capture the watch for himself and keeps serving a paralytic boss. Isn't he a baddie? And also he is faithfully watching over a guy who is in coma for 26 years.Even parents don't do that nowadays, they simply donate the organs. Athreya empathizes with Mithran but acts cold and shows only hatred towards his twin. Logical mistakes I think.
In my opinion every science fiction or superhero movie must have some underlying social cause to engage the audience. The time machine invention sadly is of no use to mankind in any way and maybe that's why it is less engaging. Maybe surya could have gone back in time to help humanity or perform a super hero act and change the future like all the cliched ones :). Don't know why all kollywood time travel movies go only backwards in time. Do we lack good futuristic writers like Sujatha and capable directors? Would like to see at least a comedy like "Back to the future",
ARR's music is good in "Mei Nigarai", "Azhagiye", "Unthan Azhaginile" (would have sounded better in shreya goshal or sadhna sargam's voice), but have to agree the magic of "Thalli Pogadhey" is missing in this album.
The visual effects and cinematography are top notch. Good work by Thiru.
Finally my view is a good director(Yaavarum Nalam was v good) and a great actor have given an one time watchable movie even though it could have been better. Loved Surya in Pasanga 2 but this is just one time watchable. Sometimes simple stories are more heart touching than these complicated science fictions. Waiting for Singam 3

Thalaivare, Everything about a movie review is correct in your words except for the music. Nobody will be expect a Gana song in this movie. Your kid will appreciate Mei nayagara song as its innovation by Rahman....Mark my words, you will get to know about Rahman's creativity after few months and years....
Observe Rahman's brilliancy in these scenes:
1. Freeze scene of rain drop: Rahman slowly adds orchestra and it becomes a grand one as the camera zoom out to show more drops of rain.
2) Saranya meeting her relative after 26 years:It's a long bgm in classical style and it adds flavour to this important scene. He starts with flute and proceeds in mirudangam...
3) Stunt before the interval: Music continues till Suriya is shot. Loved Rahman brilliancy in music to indicate cunningness for villian..
4) Initial finding of 24 project- piano music
5) Escapee from athriya in train
6) Opening of watch with key..
7) Device activation when Suriya get shock
8) Overall in many places Rahman used variety of watch sound
9) My twin brother theme appears in many places...

the movie is excellent. every one should watch it. no confusion on time travelling, it was well pictured with simplicity. we shall not question about logic or existence of time travelling technologies. until today it remain a fantasy and this movie should be seen in same manner as Fantasy Movie but in Science Fictions genres. congrats to Surya production company.

My idea for a 24 sequel is as follows: Jack Bauer have spent twenty years in prison in Russia.
Now an opurtunety to escape emerges.Two co-inmates has dug a tunell out of the prison.
They escape but a hunting party comes after them.They decide to splitt up.The two co-inmates are soon
catched,but Jack Bauer manages to get into a truck and gets out of the territorry.
At the same time a team of german rental killers appear and starts the hunt for
Jack Bauer.They has new equipment that makes the hunt easier.
Soon Jack Bauer is tracked to a cabin in the mountains,and he has to fight the rental hitmen of.
He then manages to sneak into a freightboat heading for a desolated island.
On the island they leaves ten cases in which Jack Bauer is in one of them.
He breaks out and discover he is alone on the island.
But he finds a secret installation underground.
He also discovers an old vhs with a tape inside.
On the tape he discovers a secret society called "TheOracle"that
is behind all the missdoings he have had to endure.
He finds a way to lore them to the island,and a final battle takes place.
Afterwards it is unclear if Jack Bauer survived or not and that concludes the 24 episodes each
lasting for an hour :o

hi, regarding your first answer, surya cannot create another time travel watch as eagles does some magic which surya himself is not aware of. That is also the only reason why the athreya was not able to create that watch thought he had all the necessary inputs that scientist surya recorded.
So even the scientist surya is left alive, there shall only ONE watch.
Athreya does not know about the eagle's magic. So all he knows is ONLY Sethuraman knows to make a working watch. Hence leaving Sethu alive means, he would create another watch, and that is the only reason why he kills him

this guy is a bad reviewer. 4 out of 6 minutes he talks of other films and what other people think.
1. Athreya explains why he needs to kill his brother saying he doesn't want anyone to have this technology again, tries to kill the baby because the baby have the knowledge what will happen next.
2. he says surya appears throughout the movie, he doesn't understand the meaning of acting, surya even though appears throughout he differentiates the characters very much making it believable they are 3 characters. It makes perfect sense for the uncle, father and son to be like one character. reason being, athreya needs to imitate Sethuraman, mani needs to look similar because as he grows older he could represent his father allowing him to actually know and confirm his father.
3. yes the songs weren't really connected to the movie, but A.R. Rahman's bgm lifts up the scenes, and for this movie the bgm is incredibly important.
its a perfectly logical movie except for the part that an eagle's feather is the secret ingredient, plus surya making days,month, year work within a night's work.

Reason behind eagle feather: Some of the phyiscal reactions need to be triggered by neutrons to intiate the reaction. Eagle's fly high in the sky, the feathers carry neutrons and some cosmic ray particles. So there is a logical reason behind the scene.

"indru, netru, nalai" was a masterpiece. It perfectly executed the concept of time machine. But this film, actually violates the same.. I do agree there is no existing proof of time machine nor time travellers. But there is one basic law that how time travelling works... Eg:if I'm traveling 50 years back in time, I my age cannot be affected..the same goes for forward time travel as well!.. my aging process would be regular ...
There is nothing like time travel so what you are saying cannot be right because time travelling logic is different in other movies like in endgame it's logic was different and in indru netru naalai it was different and in 24 it is different..
You're right. But in those theories, the travellers also do not replace their existing self of that time. However in this story they do. I find it to be a very interesting approach to time travel tbh

Watchable movie, CG , Art work too good. Its going to clinch some award. Neat Camera work. Stunning stunts. Cant accept Surya in negative role. Tooo lengthy Samantha portions, Gopala sathiram, Sathyabama ..... over telugu type senti scenes could have avoided. ARR music always futuristic, it will take time to catch , so its better to release the audio little earlier so that audiences will be prepared. the director should have added scenes establishing on why Athreya dislike Sethuram and could have given more opportunity for Nithya Menon to perform. This is my humble view

But, you simply highlighted the SJ Surya's New Movie, Hollywood time travel Movies you know, 20 % of negatives over the 24Movie.
I respect your previous movie reviews and But you disappointed with this review.This is such world class adventure movie.. you should encourage SURYA's attempt on his each new movies.
I disagree with the reviewer on the comment regarding the songs of the movie. ஒரு பாட்டு கூட வெளங்கல is too harsh for such a good album. I really like the songs, and I believe most of us do.
