I absolutely adore how short this song actually is without the dance number XD
right????
@@FlyBoyMT and the intro too haha
tbf, that's probably because of the fact that so many of the original lyrics were unfortunately cut. I get why they'd cut them, as most people wouldn't get the references they're making
This isn’t the full song.
Plus, all the references in the song would be long long long lost to today’s audience.
@@SamuraiCypher As Marilyn Maye would say of Beebe's bathysphere: "I'll explain that one to you later."
Are you kidding me? She wasn't classically trained until Thoroughly Modern Millie? That blows me away. She is AMAZING. I seriously would have thought she was trained from being a young child with her power house voice.
Sarah Gregory How old was she in thoroughly modern millie?
Anina Baker 26, almost 27.
Sarah Gregory because Sutton is the Godess of Broadway 😂😂 👌🏻💯 I love me some Sutton
Now that's talent
That is what you call raw talent.
She is the ONLY person that can hit that last "goes" note I have NEVER heard a production that had a reno who sang it that well good job Sutton
She hit that last note eight times a week AFTER an almost seven minute dance break that she lead- just sayin'
Flawless Modeling well she didn't hit that "e" last night- it was a note about 2 octaves lower. Please, Sutton take care of your instrument. (Yes, I know it's supposed to just be largynitis.)
Without amplification, Ethel Merman hit Jupiter with the note.
This one girl named Mila, she is an amazing belter and she played Reno when she was a Junior in high school. Not only did she hold that note but in Blow Gabriel Blow, she made the note higher and held it. Higher then what Sutton sings. It was so strong and pure.
Wrong I can
Sutton Foster is my hero, I've only taken to theatre now but so far EVERY single person has told me that without formal singing and dancing experience and training before the age of 15 I would never make it. Was discouraged for some time but this just proves that if you dedicate yourself and work as hard as humanly possible 365 days a year, anything goes
Darcy Bhaiwala I just started learning how to dance, it's the effort put in. Some people have been dancing for years but don't get the part. It's the patience, it's the effort. I know people who only started dancing at 18 and successfully landed roles at Broadway by age 20. Don't put yourself down, you're a triple threat once you try hard.
I'm in a class of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics curriculum. I'm going to be in 11th grade (Senior High School) this August and I've been so inlove with musicals but I also love science and math though. And I think theater is the right path to my future. I wanna pursue Arts and Design curriculum this opening school year. I just hope I can make it because it will kinda be a new environment for me, since I've never been doing these before when I was a Junior High School. I'm kinda nervous too.
@@iamsherk2605 holy shit I’ve never related to a comment more. I’m still in high school but really want to do something with sciences, I’ve been really interested in bacteriology for example, but a part of me desperately wants to do theatre and musicals and everything. But the biggest thing is that if I go all in on drama and arts and don’t make it I’d feel like a failure and wasted potential in science. 🙂🙃
She nailed it she sing effortless
That conductor was feelin it
I want to meet Sutton Foster soooooo bad. She's one of the only broadway actresses I know who is my height (5'9) and she is just such an amazing belter!
BooksPajamasTea Stephanie J Block is 5"9. Don't know if that means anything, but, there you go.
If you ever get to see her in person she always comes out the stage door and says hi to fans!
The weirdest part about this is Jonathon Groff watched this over 240,000 times, so there's only several thousand of us other than him who watched this
The fact that she had no training until she landed a major Broadway role is astonishing I’m not even sure how to react to that I’m somebody who was A musician from the fourth grade until my mid-thirthirties when I quit music and I can’t even imagine not having any training like her talent is just God-given she’s gorgeous she’s charismatic she’s such an amazing singer and she’s such a great actress I have no problem admitting I’ve got a huge crush on her she is every man’s dream and every musician stream I love Sutton foster she’s fucking awesome
she's flawless....omg
One of my favorite musical theater numbers, and she knocks it out of the park. Bravo, bravo, bravo.
I always return to this video when I need a sutton fix :)
She is simply perfect
That broken last note is the best singing I've ever heard her do, though I only know her from UA-cam videos.
She looks very pretty here. Damn Sutton I think I have decided on my favorite broadway actor :DD No seriously she has a great voice, charisma, personality, and a knack for acting.
She does so little but she does SO MUCH wow!
The eyebrows and smile at the end just melts me.
Sutton Foster as an Indiana Jones heroine, please!
oh my gosh I love this idea!
She belted the shit out of that last note lol
Stop!! I just had an asthma attack she took my breath away that much🥲
Amazing. So talented on "Younger",too. Triple threat for sure ( I saw a rehearsal tape of "Anything Goes.")
She literally never takes a breath. . . so unfair. . .
+Claire Buoni 0:14, 0:31, 0:35, 0:42, 0:53, 1:02, 1:24, 1:32
I'm a sad person...
+BW 99139 lol me
No, it's very obvious when she takes a breath. Why people think she isn't is beyond me.
Clearly Claire doesn't mean literally. Humans require oxygen to live. She means that her breaths are perfectly timed and effortless so they never interfere with her vocals... She seems like she is never taking a breath...
claire elizabeth For the amount of tap dancing done in the show itself, it proves that Sutton has incredible breath support.
That woman is deliciously gorgeous and talented!!
wow so much respect for her.
so adorable
so effortless!
I just adore this performance!!!!
Amazing!
I LOVE HER!!!!!!
Stunning as ever. ❤️
She always blows me away! Amazing!
I just love her!
Perfect
Love Sutton Foster!
Perfection
Love this bundle of talent! #suttonfoster
I fall in love her voice, herself and her all other performance when I listen everytime
Awesome Sutton Foster :-)
I love it she is awesome!!😍😎👍😜😉
wonderful
WOW!! HOO?? FANTASTIC JOB FOR COLE!!!
Great voice...🙂
Such a beautiful singer- like if u agree
what a beautiful version.
Impressive.
Sutton is hands down the best Broadway diva ever in the history of Broadway. Better than any of the old classics.
WOW!!
Yes! Nice!
Only just noticed the conductor near the end really getting into it!
She’s just….. the best
Woooow
A real icon
This is my competition tap dance song!!!!!!
I saw her in Thoroughly Modern Millie and she was magic! Wouldn't have know that she wasn't classically trained until then.
great
Such a rare beautiful
I always feel that she should be the voice of Elsa
bigsquare88 i hope she'll be a disney princess someday
She should be another princess, too light for Elsa.
bigsquare88 she sound like a princess. But she’s always complaining cause she’s too tall for a princess hole
But she's better than Idina tho. She has no technique
Anything Goes!
you beat Cole singing this -- I didn't think anyone could
That trumpet missing it's partial at 1:13 is literally me.
LOL
Just makes it more rock 'n' roll
Strong horn section.
When she sings this does she sing 16 bars ????
I’m here because of the younger ❤️
She sounds very similar to Kristin Chenesworth (bad spelling) and Idina Menzel mixed together. I know that’s weird to say but it’s true if u listen closely
Wow didn't know she was singing...really great! Hee voice sounds younger than she actually is lol if it makes any sense,it's like there's a young girl in her throat that sings for her
1:39 to 1:41 is hilarious.
"Oh yes, I forgot. I'm supposed to sell this, to make it look as though the high note is difficult for me"...
Effortless and breathtaking
Man SPM ANYTHING GOES brought me here.
Having a nice tone is something you are born with. It is not a function of training or intention. It's geometry and the physics of your nasal cavity, etc. Ms. Foster is a very pleasant person, but dame Kiri has a beautiful tone, and alas...
0:55 or 1:13 -1:49
*stares into the wasteland in winterized T-51b power armor listening to this song*
This is Song on Fallout 3
Why do people insist on changing the lyrics?
You can hear her breathes if you focus really hard
*Shanghai, 1935*
If Mae West you liker me un dressed you like,,, whynobodywillaopoooooose
In olden days a glimpse of stocking
Was looked on as something shocking,
But now, God knows,
Anything Goes.
Good authors too who once knew better words,
Now only use four letter words
Writing prose, Anything Goes.
If driving fast cars you like,
If low bars you like,
If old hymns you like,
If bare limbs you like,
If Mae West you like
Or me undressed you like,
Why, nobody will oppose!
When every night,
The set that's smart
Is intruding in nudist parties in studios,
Anything Goes.
If saying your prayers you like,
If green pears you like
If old chairs you like,
If back stairs you like,
If love affairs you like
With young bears you like,
Why nobody will oppose!
And though I'm not a great romancer
And though I'm not a great romancer
I know that I'm bound to answer
When you propose,
Anything goes...
Anything goes!
Affairs with young bears ?...a reference to gay sex? with younger men?
Its funny most actors never learned how to sing until there roles .
The cadence was off but its ok
Don't get me wrong, I like her, but her voice is a tad harsh, no? Great for Broadway, I suppose.
I think it's for the style of this song, if you listen to her in Shrek, she doesn't do that.
Coming late to the party, but I think it is specifically for this song/musical/character - Reno's a nightclub singer, and this style definitely works with that.
I believe she’s mimicking the voice of Ethel Merman, the original Reno Sweeney.
Its the style of the character shes playing whos a 1930s club singer
As much as I love Sutton Foster, I think this would've been a better role for Anna Kendrick.
This new verson of the song is horrible compared to the original
A bit flat at times
Can *not* stand.
Nothing goes with her.
