6:34 Yeah. My biggest issue with the document was (besides just about everything Lindsey wrote) was Marzgurls complaint about the costume she had to make in TBF. She most certainly was right to ask for compensation for the time and work put into it. This is something she should have negotiated beforehand. But if she wanted compensation for the materials, then CA most certainly had the right to ask for the costume.
23:34 Lmao, I knew Brad was the voice of reason. He really does seem like the only one that had legit self-awareness all the way through every movie and incident. 26:26 That president guy was the best part of the film though. IMO the gag of him being 'not the president' seemed amusing to me. Funnier than the others at least and that guy isn't a 'professional comedian' like they were.
Personally Suburban Knights was mostly mid, To Boldly Flee is the real Cthulhu-tier mind-shattering horror. Also, you still owe us you and Shota suffering through the Linkara Movie.
I was a Machinima kid growing up, so I was more or less on the other side of the internet while all the Channel awesome stuff went down. Now, learning about the Channel Awesome stories as an adult, I feel like a nosy neighbor peeking over the backyard fence just to find the family next door had been murdered years ago without me noticing. The strangest part is that they weren't killed by an intruder or anything, evidently they all killed each other.
Mick saying Chris and Corey have brain damage for liking Kickassia forever lives rent-free in my head. Also, Spooney's Counter Monkeys is actually a good show.
There's still novelty with Kickassia. As a kid, it was legitimately cool when all these critics got together to make a "movie." Nobody on the planet knew who everyone was because there were so many people, but I think I got into a few of them because of it. Film Brain is actually a decent and articulate critic. He recently did a retrospective on Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, and it's probably his best work. Kickassia was also before all the drama and backstabbing. Sad state of affairs today, but I can watch parts of Kickassia (I'm probably never gonna watch it in full ever again because it is a piece of shit) and go back to ignorant bliss, if only for a moment. Nowadays, you could pluck any random person from the cast and there's a 99% chance they're an unironically bad person.
Agreed. Despite it not being a well-made movie and having a lot of dated or “cringe” stuff in it, there is a genuine charm to it that I don’t think the other TGWTG movies that followed had. I definitely feel like the comradery and chemistry between the members of the site is still genuine in it, like it was this project that they all had fun making as a group despite all of the grievances with the production. By the time Suburban Knights and ESPECIALLY To Boldly Flee were coming out, it was feeling a lot more forced, with a lot of the site members having drama behind the scenes by then. I could be reading into it too much, but that’s just the energy I get when watching the screen. Despite it decidedly NOT being an actual good film and only a minority of the jokes really working, it feels kinda charming, novel, and fun. It also REALLY helps that the entire movie is a joke and doesn’t try to take its plot or “lore” seriously and add elements of melodrama with poor acting like the following movies did.
You know there really was a charm in early Doug Walker content. Like it's cringe but it was cringe in the same way a video you made during highschool was cringe. Nowadays Doug is just going through the motion because this is all he can do.
I personally can't hate Doug's old videos. They may not have much for a modern viewer, but I dunno, there's something comfortable and ... er, nostalgic about them nowadays. Back when it was just Doug, his brother Robin doing writing behind the scenes, and a well-lit wall somewhere in his house. Once it turned into a business and he had actors/actresses in skits, it went downhill very fast.
straight up found a used copy of Kickassia at my local Beat goes on (its a used video/record store in Ontario) it was behind a glass case for 150 bucks, the staff knew what was up
I think I can sum up some of the Channel Awesome guys in my own words: - Nostalgia Critic: The guy who seems nice but tries too hard to be funny. - Linkara: The guy who claims he’s a male feminist to hide the fact he’s a hypocritical weirdo. - Cinema Snob: The easy going guy that everyone still loves. - BennettTheSage: The guy who acted like a contrarian snob who thinks he knows better but didn’t know what he was talking about and fails to clean up his image cuz he doesn’t admit his mistakes. - Angry Joe: The guy who just gets mad for no reason nowadays and ends up saying stupid shit. - JewWario: The dead pedophile. - Spoony: The guy who tries to fix his depression with alcohol. - Nostalgia Chick: The woman.
There's also a LOT of other shit with Spoony where he might of had a sexual relationship with one of the other creators who then got pregnant and had an abortion and that also sent him down a dark path and also other things about his problems with living with his brother, moving to Chicago and then moving back to Arizona, a whole lot of shit

Reading that google document, it's hard to tell what's real and what was made up or exaggerated to provoke sympathy in the readers. Cinema Snob seems alright and just trying to cope with all this BS.
FINALLY! SOMEONE WHO GETS IT! As someone who is a second generation reviewer taking from the CA days like Bobshaux, I still follow the NC/CA style of reviews. Many say its a dead genre per say, but I think it can still be viable for internet culture. If anything the genre and style can be done, but learn from the flaws of the past. I follow lore that picks up from the CA story and movies. Pretty much what Linkara does because it's a story I have passion and heart to tell. If CA was the original Star Trek, my show is Star Trek TNG. As for the controversy, I'm glad to see your opinion on it be fair, honest and open minded. Despite the legit issues, what it comes down to is they were ammature and young and when you're young you do stupid shit. I made my first feature around the same time Kickassia and Suburban Knights came out and it was a real learning curve in what I do now. This comment is a little too much me ngl, but this video was fun, informative and fairly opinionated. Well done. You earned a new sub.
I don't know how Santa Christ coming back to life after three days ruins the joke. It's obviously a reference to Jesus Christ's resurrection in the Bible. Probably it's meant to highlight the pointlessness of the previous sequence since if he can only come back in three days like Jesus, then "We believe in Santa Christ" was never going to work to begin with.
I love these movies Channel Awesome made, and i watched reviewers like Spoony and Doug and AVGN, who i watched a boat load of. edit - I also saw an interview of Spoony from the channel, Conversations with Curtis, the lead actor, Paul Morgan Stetler from the game Phantasmagoria 2, doing the interview. Spoony seems to be in better health and back on his meds.
I enjoyed watching CA back then. Doug and Spoony really captured a cadence in their videos with summary - skit - review - summary that made them great for listening while you were working on something else.
I've always thought that with some of the complaints the creators on Channel Awesome had why didn't some of them just cut their losses and leave sooner than later? Or keep sticking around being abused? Some of it definitely doesn't add up.
Mostly cause they knew that the site actually gave them good money and really helped them out at the end of the day haha. There's a reason why they ignored the JW situation. But the moment when the cash starts burning their way. They start shouting out problems. Everyone is terrible in these kind of incidents.
Damn ... listening to Loli explain to the kiddos who the Nostalgia Critic is (as someone who used to like NC's reviews when I was younger, though I'll admit Walker's format didn't get old as fast as Rolfe's) really makes me feel old. I can feel the lines on my face grow deeper. Somewhere on my head, liver-spots are developing.
2:15 I'm 33, I'm watching this because nostalgia for dumb internet people in the 2000s / early 2010s is always nice to hear someone in the modern day talk about. It's almost like my teenage years and early twenties weren't wasted scrolling on the internet looking for something to watch when I should be making friends. I feel lonely and I should do better

Funniest joke about Kickassia you will ever hear. On IDMB, it scored 1.3 stars higher than Madame Web. That's more proof that God exists and he is hilarious.
Most of Channel Awesome was comprised of ankle biting nobodies who thought their unremarkable presence deserved more praise and recognition from the company.
Suburban Knights is next, it is a titan compared to this, but when it is finished, your struggle will not be over. You will swear it to be a summer's breeze when you arrive at what is after.
I don't think the issue with Doug is that he doesn't care, it's that he just generally fails to understand or analyze context. If you've seen any of his video essays, you know what I'm talking about - they read like remedial English essays written by a high schooler - the man just doesn't really have the drive to go deeper than surface level, and when he does it's usually laughable. No, he's not a bad guy, but by and large he's incompetent when it comes to filmmaking and media analysis.
Honestly, I said it from the start when the document released. All of these people. ALL of them were fine with the bs and nonsense and treating people terribly when the money and their popularity were at their heights. None of what they were reporting was a problem or worth talking about in all that time. Until their fame started waning. Until the money stopped rolling in. Then, all of a sudden, the workplace was always terrible. All of a sudden, there was a giant document full of sins and sinners. With enough information posted that casual viewers could figure out who had done what. A document that catapulted many of the waning content creators back into the spotlight for a little while. They were all guilty. Always had been. Most of them are still nothing. Didn’t evolve with the times and stay relevant. Molded their own stuff into pointless copies of Doug’s stuff anyway. Meanwhile, other creators have done stuff akin to the way channel awesome used to handle reviews, and I still watch content like that. Decker Shado, Deusdeacon, Brandon’s movie reviews, SFDebris, Ross Scott… just to name a few. The formula still works. But, the content creators of channel awesome were genuinely very lazy and awful people who spent a lot time not planning or doing very little planning in general for anything they did. I genuinely liked Spoony because most of his work seemed very high effort. He scripted things out most of the time and did a ton of rewrites. Even for his jokes. Shame he lost his mind, but he was one of the few on that site that actually had talent and drive to do what he was doing. Nobody at channel awesome was a victim, they were all perpetrators. That document proves it. None of them cared about what was going down there until it was obvious their gravy trains had dried up. Then, it was suddenly a problem.
21:50 I do like this little mention with Spoony. Whatever he may have become (or always have been, just hid it better), he did make some nice content and yeah, the Ultima videos felt personal.
I can't help but love Kickassia. It's basically the movie every young boy wanted to make or would have made. A big dumb bundle of moments with your pals and a bunch of props. And they did come off as pals, compared to Suburban Knights where even they note in the commentary track how they all come off as absolutely hating each other... which they blew off in that but year I wonder where things were at actually at the time.
it's still strange to think that Benzai tv (appear at 6.40) was in that collective years ago before comming back to France, and that when he came back, it gave some nostalgia critics cameo over the athlantic
I don't think Doug doesn't care but he is incompetent & doesn't listen to criticism enough. He really really should not have gone down the skit recreation route for reviewing movies. But he only doubled down on it despite it being universally hated. Yet somehow he's still failing upwards off of meme factor.
I’ll be curious to see how much Loli will continue to go into regarding the situation with Channel Awesome: what he’ll cover, whether or not it was true, and so on, and how it may tie into the movies. I haven’t done as much homework on the NotSoAwesome Doc, so I wasn’t aware how much of it was falsified, but I always did think it strange to put in really petty things alongside serious sexual allegations. Really deludes the intensity of the JewWario stuff, and overblown the he said/she said shit. I’m pretty sure I already now what stuff isn’t true, but it’s interesting to hear people talk about all the same.
Yeah, I will admit, I believed a lot of the listed allegations, but I did have a suspicious feeling when I saw Lindsay's excuses for Olson's CP in that document.
Doug always has seemed like a genuinely nice guy overall, and the dude is full of zany energy possibly at all times much like how Steve-O used to display. I agree about his style of humor, though, he just seemed to really settle in to the structure of set-up/punchline that has became what most people imagine when hearing the name Nostalgia Critic. So people could be forgiven for not remembering some of his other abilities as an old G like myself does who spent the early-to-mid 2010's watching NC. For example, he actually can be guilty of saying some funny shit! Also, he has always had some fantastic insights into movies that a few of could be quite brilliant depending on who you ask. I remember back when that one movie had just released with Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence where they got up to romantic hi-jinks or so the filmmakers so desperately wanted people to believe. Long story short, Doug was one of the first, if not the very first, critic to explain why he thought the movie could have been incredible had it been edited with the goal of making a horror film. Anyway, didn't mean to go on too much here as if I'm sucking the guy off. I think I just sorta had a reaction to all the NC/Doug negativity that went on for a couple years that doesn't seem all that long ago, where I had grown tired of NC content yet felt people were just going way too hard in a lot of ways that compelled me to try finding the nuance that was so obviously being left out. In particular I recall when NC posted their review of Pink Floyd's The Wall and the resulting podcast travesty from Jar Media (podcast from I Hate Everything and crew) that featured 4 or so gentlemen being so offended they spent at least 2 hours crying directly into tampons to illustrate the point. Those guys can be funny so it was weird to see, felt like I was witnessing interviews given by r-pe victims to spread awareness.

Oh god. Feels like ages since I have remembered Channel Awesome, let alone Nostalgia Critic
I remember watching back in the day. Big ups to Doug for being cool with OneyNG's jokes.
That was Jeff.
Jeff is more of an angry joe guy to be fair
Brad is still a good dude. He reviews some messed up stuff but he has an impeccable record to his character.
Filmbraaaaaaaain.
Kickassia is one of those "You had to be there" things.
Once it turned into a business and he had actors/actresses in skits, it went downhill very fast.
straight up found a used copy of Kickassia at my local Beat goes on (its a used video/record store in Ontario) it was behind a glass case for 150 bucks, the staff knew what was up
So weird to see Angry Joe with only 2 chins instead of 4.
It’s just as Metokur prophesied. His transformation into Donut Drake is complete!
There’s a road pathed with good intentions.
Wonder where it leads…

Nostalgia Critic is the guy who reawakened my love of Cinema. Love that guy.
I think I can sum up some of the Channel Awesome guys in my own words:
- Nostalgia Critic: The guy who seems nice but tries too hard to be funny.
The next video about Suburban Knight debunks Jew Wario as a pedo...still a weirdo though but apparently all the shit about him being a pedo was a lie

@@MondoFatato-y1z I agree!
I used to give them a pass because i thought these movies were stupid but they at least had fun making them
Shame it seems they didn't
Same thing with linkara's "storyline", he took it way to serious
Spoony will always have a special place in my heart. He was too good for these people.
Yeah I felt bad for him
6:07 Pov: You’re the shotgun
I was probably a couple of years too old to appreciate this when it came out, but this looks like a peak representation of the "lol so random" era of the internet.
So your saying if Linkara randomly showed up all I have to say is "Green M&M" and I have an assault case I could win ?...huh interesting.
Reading that google document, it's hard to tell what's real and what was made up or exaggerated to provoke sympathy in the readers. Especially when I realised it was written by many of the drama starters and general bad people of TWTG. The truth I reckon, is that NO ONE was an okay person in that group. Apart from Brad. Cinema Snob seems alright and just trying to cope with all this BS.
16:10 "He heard every word of that, you fcking asshole!"
I laughed too.
NGL that speech you gave at 16:18 was low-key inspiring despite it being for comedic purposes. Well done Loli, well done.
I'm not gonna lie. It was Doug walker, Angry Joe and some non-CA youtubers that got me into video creation
You created video? What kind? Film? wav? Mp4?
let us all bow our heads in remembrance of the short period in which marzgurl was vaguely marragieable
Why are you so good at making trailers, and why haven’t you been hired to make them for actual movies, shows, and games?
To show he’s better off without the industry
I love these movies Channel Awesome made, and i watched reviewers like Spoony and Doug and AVGN, who i watched a boat load of.
edit - I also saw an interview of Spoony from the channel, Conversations with Curtis, the lead actor, Paul Morgan Stetler from the game Phantasmagoria 2, doing the interview. Spoony seems to be in better health and back on his meds.
The persona soundtrack in the background is top tier
*NEXT REVIEW IN: 6 DAYS*
*Objective: Steal Doug's heart*
The Board James cameo made Risk look simple. That's how talented James Rolfe is.
Damn ... listening to Loli explain to the kiddos who the Nostalgia Critic is (as someone who used to like NC's reviews when I was younger, though I'll admit Walker's format didn't get old as fast as Rolfe's) really makes me feel old. I can feel the lines on my face grow deeper. Somewhere on my head, liver-spots are developing.
It’s okay. I’m older than Doug and James. I’m sure new grays popped up while watching this.
Man, the moment Film Brain was mentioned to be British I remembered about RoosterTeeth and their fall.

Oh god, I still remember the streams when they watched the movies. Please, loli, stop hurting yourself like this…
Seeing a healthy spoony is weird. Last I really kept track of his ass was okay it’s the down the rabbit hole video on him. Great video. I didn’t even know these guys made a couple movies.
Something that could have possibly worked is going the Roger route from American dad where the president had a different disguise for interacting with different people and everyone had the one disguise they couldn't see through which is actually something that happens in an episode of American dad
2:15 as someone who was almost the same age when it came out, I could feel my brain cells turning more boomerish and my heart teared up 😢
Linkara desperately pretending he doesn't know the origin of every joke made against him is hilarious

Most of Channel Awesome was comprised of ankle biting nobodies who thought their unremarkable presence deserved more praise and recognition from the company.
This is quite the blessing after a whole month of No Nostalgia Critic November.
November?
Are you talking about his editorials?
Great, he ha that in Common with almost every other youtube essay channel
Lindsay Ellis used to annoy the crap out of me in those old Nostalgia Critic reviews but Tamara Chambers was not a good replacement either.
What did Tamara do?
@ramsfan0868
Tamara DIDN'T Replace her, dumbass. Tamara replaced Rachel, idiot.
Oh hey, I remember your live stream watching this movie. I was a good history lesson of some internet personalities I've yet to see.
13:39 Genuinely Doug walker’s videos on the Mask comic and the super mario adventures comic were pretty good.
It doesn't matter if you finished and released the video in december, we all know that you broke No Nostalgia Critic November
dear god, Linkara's streams are the gift that keeps on giving
I've actually been rewatching some of his earlier stuff and mildly enjoying it, so help me God
21:50 I do like this little mention with Spoony. Whatever he may have become (or always have been, just hid it better), he did make some nice content and yeah, the Ultima videos felt personal.
I still visit the saga on occasion. Those early streams were a trip. I still think they’re a dream on occasion.
@@jackdaone6469 She tried to excuse it? Now this I gotta hear.
No Nostalgia critic November. Conquered.
Let's start Destroy Doug December!!
The fact she made that rap is still wild ☠️
Doog-Cember has arrived, let the madness take hold of us...
PLEASE tell me you're going to eventually go over Doug's 'review' of Pink Floyd's The Wall. That fucking thing was a absolute fucking disaster.
