I think the reverse clarity on the background is fantastic. I use it in my wildlife images to enhance the detailed subject. Thanks Dave and of course, we mustn’t forget TK for his sterling work and contributions…..!
Thank you, David. I always enjoy your class. The most interesting part in today's class is "one color gradient". it is magical!
Beautiful TK Friday! You reminded me of Bob Ross with the happy little flowers😀. What a wonderful edit.
Thanks Jose.
Thanks so much for this tutorial. I learn something new from each TK Friday video and look forward to Friday's so that I can watch and learn.
Happiness is TK Friday! Wow, very inspirational and educational. Having watched all your tutorials for over a year, my own post processing results have significantly improved. Thanks Dave!
You’re welcome Stephen and that’s great to hear.
It is a great transformation. Eventually, if you continue to demonstrate mask calculations, the black hole of my mind might even succeed in becoming greatly transformed. Well done Dave.
Thanks SRG.
Dave a REALLY GOOD process for highlighting elements of your central flower. Thanks so much for sharing your recipe!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Fantastic lesson today, Dave. The reverse clarity solved a problem on a photo I was working on this morning. Many, many thanks.
Thanks Steve.
Once again, an awesome video Dave! Thank you for continuing to produce these!
Thanks Dave. I love TK Friday.
You have a really good eye for flower photography, Dave, and it's matched by your ability to process them to perfection. Makes me wish I lived somewhere with more flowers. Really like how you brought this image to life. Also liked seeing you use the reverse clarity and the 1-color gradient in ways I never imagined.
Thanks Tony.
I completely agree, Tony. Your TK-Plugin seems to be the magic wand and Dave is the magician.
Dave excellent tutorial, thank you. Look forward to your inspirational examples and discovering new tips and tricks with the TK panel,
Really nice Dave! That soft glow is awesome. Thank you.
I am glad you liked the Soft Glow.
Thanks for these valuable tips. As always, a msaterclass.
Best regards from Rio de Janeiro/Brazil.
Another great and fun tutorial. Thanks so much.
Good Morning Dave
Good Morning David.
Once again. Brilliant
Excellent Dave!
Great tutorial! Thank you!
Thank you Dave excellent TK Friday, perfect for this time of the year!
Dave, so many great tips in one video! Thank you TK Action professor.
Happiness is TK Friday! Perfect timing Dave, I am working on focus stacked macro flowers and this training will really help. Thanks for yet another great video.
As always, a great idea and inspiration for me to continue working on my photos. Greetings from Poland from the city of "Fortress Przemyśl".
Dave - so again a very informative video with some great new ideas. You reminded me of reverse clarity - I need to keep this neat technique in mind - perhaps applying it even to landscape photos. But for me, the best part of today's video was highlighting something I had completely missed - the 1-color gradient! So many features buried in the TK panel it is hard to keep track of them all. And of course Tony Kuyper deserves a lot of credit for these!! (And a shout out to Blake Rudis for creating the 1-color gradient action!) Now for a question. It seems to me that you are using multiple curves adjustment layers with screen blending mode to lighten the image because you cannot achieve the amount of brightness you desire with a single layer. Why not actually brighten the image by adjusting the curve in the curves adjustment layer with a luminosity blending mode. Wouldn't this allow you to achieve a "stronger" level of brightness with just one adjustment layer?
The Joy of Editing with Dave Kelly
REPLY
Thanks Steve. Your method will also work but I like this method because I think it gives me a more subtle adjustment but I will have to experiment with your technique.
Hi Dave, what a masterpiece of editing and training too. your video is about half a hour, the lesson keeps me three hours and a bunch of cups of coffee. Finished it right now.
Thank you very much for the ocean of ideas and advices and tricks to explore the tools of Tony. One question you are a photographer and a teacher?
cheers Daniel
Great,thank you!
Amazing edit!
Thanks Ken.
Graet work
Thanks
Danke!
Thank you Rolf.
Thanks!
Thank you Patrick.
Another outstanding class and again showing the power of TX8 - love it! Lots of new tips and inspired me to re-edit some of my flower images, to great effect. As someone who is a great fan of Blake Rudis, I have completed some of his courses, it is nice to see his Extra used. It was mentioned some time ago that TK was going to expand the Workflow Extras panel - any news? So, worked through your image and now look forward to the next TK Friday with great anticipation.
Thank you for another great TK Friday video and for expanding my TK horizons! Your knowledge and enthusiasm is always motivating and enjoyable and I'm off to try some new and fun techniques! (BTW the yellow things are stamens holding pollen)
Thanks Hali and thanks for the Stamen info.
Recently I worked on photos shot in zoo. I spent a lot of effort to remove the wire fence in front/back of the object. I tried clone, frequency separation, blur and the combination of those, little by little. It took me a lot of time , and the result is not ideal. I wonder if you could show us some better way.
If you like I can send you some photos for your reference.
I can’t promise I would be able to do any better than you did but feel free to send me some examples.
The flower is happy my head is very pain.
I don't see the before/after, or any of the orange buttons on my cx panel, did you add those?
Good question I did add those hear is a Link to learn how to do it: ua-cam.com/video/INQcl4JFAQI/v-deo.html
A quick question. Where is the best place to obtain high quality png images for practice?
I don’t know where to find png files but here is a link for free Stock Image jpeg files: unsplash.com
Another masterclass. I am having a little difficulty understanding what a Darks 0 mask means, and how inverting a Lights 2 gets you there. Is there such a thing as a Lights 0? A bit confused.
Thanks Roger. A Lights O would be a Darks 2 Inverted. The Darks 0 lets the DeNoise Adjustment be strongest on all of the Dark Tones but it holds some of the DeNoising off of the very lightest tones. I just think it looks more photographic to have a very slight amount of noise in the brightest highlights. Basically the entire image is DeNoised but just a slight amount remains in the brightest Highlights, which is achieved by adding the Darks 0 to the DeNoise Layer. I hope that makes sense and helps.
@@thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly Thanks Dave. I do understand how you are using it, I'm just not getting the "math" for a Darks 0... how it relates to the D6-D1-L1-L6 continuum.
Sorry Roger, I misunderstood you. I learned this from Tony Kuyper. He was showing me how to get a lighter darks mask for my DeNoise Layer. The next time I talk to him I will ask him how the math works.
@@thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly actually, that makes sense! Thanks!
Thanks
Thank you Andy.
