I mean It may be true that hylics is just a dream and we are wayne and even though in reality its strange and unsetteling it makes sense for wayne and he isnt terrified by any of it.

Then you see the sprite and find out it's actual Bucks. As in the animal. You're carrying thousands of them.

Hylics is genuinely my favorite Vinny playthrough. my friends and I watch it in our rabb.it room all the time, we'll be trying to figure out what to watch and someone inevitably suggests "hey let's put on Hylics while we figure out what to watch" and then we just wind up watching the entire thing and forgetting to put anything else on. 'Wayne needs to escape right the fuck now' has become an in-joke among our friendgroup usually used to denote when a character in a movie is trouble needs to escape real fuckin' fast.

This is the most impressive-looking RPG Maker game I've ever seen.
I can still identify the engine from a number of things: the menus, character movement, overworld and battle mechanics, especially the "Wayne started to escape" text - that's endemic to RPG Maker VX onwards - but it really looks great.
Humanity is not ready for this. It will be many eons before we can comprehend the *glands* of this wonderful beast

I'm in love with the visuals in this game. The art style reminds me of Monty Python animations.
Someone took Worlds Explored,Space Funeral,Crypt World and threw it in a blender with modern art.
This honestly is one of the most beautiful games I have seen, and its a RPG Maker game. Mason is so talented.
i have a friend who really loves this game. i can see how it has effected his personality now.

Hylics is made by Mason Lindroth and it is surrealism.
I love that on the mountain where you find Dedusmuln, there are some clay rock things that look like some of the characters' heads. Even including Wayne, Dedusmuln, and Pongorma from what I can see

Hylics: A postmodern RPG
the title Hylics is derived from a term in Gnosticism for humans made purely of matter (Greek ὕλη "Matter"), as opposed to Psychics (Greek ψυχή "Soul") and Pneumatics (Greek πνεύμα "Pneuma; Spirit; Breath") who are more enlightened and not burdened by a material form, though Pneumatics were more spiritual and powerful than Psychics.
Gnosticism divided the world into the three castes of Hylic (also called "Somatic" or "Sarkic" which derived from the Greek words for Body or Flesh, respectively), the Matter-Bound Beings who lacked understanding of the world around them and thus live in contented ignorance; Psychic, the Matter-Dwelling Souls (aware that they were meant for something greater, aware that the world around them is false, and that the "God" they worship is not the REAL god, but merely an imperfect being called the Demiurge or Yaldabaoth, yet are unable to ascend higher without the proper gnosis a.k.a., "Divine or Esoteric Wisdom"); and lastly, Pneumatic , the Matter-Free/ Immaterial Spirits, who, having attained transcendent wisdom from Sophia 's Divine Spark, are capable of escaping the false Material World and ascending to the true Spiritual World.
This would seemingly indicate that the main protagonists are being woken up from a Matrix like scenario in which they are seeing the true world for the first time, leading to them taking on Lunar King Gibby, who fulfills the role of Demiurge, the False God/ Mad and Imperfect Creator of the Material World.
I like how in all surreal RPGMaker games hence playing goblet grotto which is not an rpgmaker game, Vinny keeps saying "Are you Goblet?"

The texts are like if he wrote the scripts in japanese, then used google translate to translate to german, then to africans, then to mandarin, then back to japanese, and finally english, and then switch every word to their antonym where possible.

This guy's stuff reminds me of Takagism, from way back in the day. The one who made the Crimson Room escape game and its sequels. He did some other very strange stuff in Shockwave, including the clay style stuff.

This might be the most convoluted joke of all time, but here goes nothing.
Vinny said "did I write this game?", which could have been worded with one extra letter to create a question with a double-meaning. If he had said, "did AI write this game?" it could be take as asking if artificial intelligence wrote the game, which isn't totally far-fetched as some of the weird dialogue is randomly generated. But it could also be taken as asking if Vinny had written the game, which was the original question but now with incorrect grammar. BUT it just so happens that the dialogue in the game, due to it being randomly generated, sometimes will have sentences with "A" next to a word that starts with a vowel making it incorrect, thus making it the same grammatical error as the hypothetical question from hypothetical Vinny.
I think I'm just talking to myself as this video was posted 7 years ago. Please don't let the authorities catch wind of this since it will immediately label me as a manic freak that is best isolated from the rest of you normal, law-abiding folk. Well in any case, I gotta go hang the skin that I just collected on some tanning racks to dry, don't wanna have the mice get to them. Keep it real.
