Well done lads for helping those guys with the buggy out. As a trained swift water rescue technician, I can tell you for a fact that they were extremely lucky to come out of that relatively unscathed. Could have been very different pinned down under that strainer fence!
Thanks for commenting! Yeah we was absolutely fine until those buggys came along and cost us a lot of time but we tried and failed with the rescue of the buggy..but the main thing we got the guy out and the other chap with the child was safe with us very difficult situation to be in without any rescue training skills!! 😎👍👍
There seems to be a lot of negative comments here. These guy’s are no rookies. Sometimes the conditions are hard to tell until it’s too late. They made a call and to be fair, if they wasn’t there things could have been a lot worse! It was a good job they were able to react fast to de-escalate the situation. Experience took over and they saved a man and his vehicle. They have done a great thing and learnt from this. They should be priced for their efforts not scorned for it. Well done boys 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Cheers Gary much respect to you for this comment!! I don’t understand everyone going on about the recovery..who cares the guy was saved and alive today!.. huge respect to my guys scrambling over the sinking marsh and getting to the chap.. Thanks for your support as always bud! ❤️👍👍
Not the first time somebody has died on Strata. I was up there the week before a young girl drowned in an upturn Disco, there’s a small plaque for her where the accident happened.. I’ve been driving it for nearly 30 years and wild camping up there.. over the years more and more have got into 4x4s and have basically destroyed the track and it won’t be long before it’s closed for good.. taking a buggy up there with the water levels that high is absolutely ridiculous.
You have had very mixed comments on here questioning the goings on in this video , and admittedly a negative one from me. However, what cannot be brought into question is the manner that you have dealt with those comments, and also the manner that you dealt with the ongoing crisis that you encountered on the day. You have always been courteous in responding to the difficult comments and the video itself shows what a helpful bunch you really are. We all make mistakes but you showed a willingness to help and pitch in to rescue a very dangerous situation. You deserve a huge amount of credit for that.
As someone who who has done mountain rescue, and white water rescue, I personally wouldn’t have gone out in those conditions. However. It’s lucky you did as that chap was at risk of being pinned under water. I would have made some attempt to first secure the buggy with just a static rope, and then although not ideal, cut the fence, and tried to guide the buggy to recover frontwards. This of course may not have been possible, and only those there would be able to assess that. At the end of the day, vehicles can be replaced, a life can’t. Sometimes you just have to abandon
Cheers Gary! Yeah it’s hard to tell people but when Tom And me was pulling the guy out when I looked at the guys face the fear and emotion he had was crazy he’s very lucky!! The recovery was shambles but everyone was wet cold and panic was set in!!
@ You done the best you could with the equipment you had! You could see the cold water shock set in, the fact you boys dragged him out probably saved his life! Any longer he would have been in big trouble. You stabilised the vehicle and made it safe, the water was rising so if left it probably would have ended up down the river. So not at all, he owe’s you boys a big drink! You saved him and his car. Hats off to you boys, pat yourselves on the back. You deserve it. Job well done! 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
I really hate the off piste abusers. Maybe we could org😊anise a clean up gang and repair team of responsible laners, maybe speak to the council for help to block the off piste routes
Hopefully the damage can be resolved it’s need a seasonal Tro on it only open during the summer time! Like the sarn Helen neath Roman road that’s in such good condition!
Sadly most people who visit Wales in 4x4s aren't willing to look after the lanes/tracks, I've been out on the bike and seen people drive off piste around fallen trees instead of winching them out the way. It's always left to us locals to clean up. The mud plugging detours around obsticals will eventually get lanes closed down. 👎
@dirtyoffroader2093 yes this is very true we always do our best to clear lanes with fallen trees if they too big or to much to handle we contact local authorities.. But the state of all the damage on strata is unreal it’s everywhere new routes been made in different areas..
We was on the hard surface not soft areas we was there to film the damaged areas not to drive the whole of strata..but we would have been ok if we didn’t have to rescue the Buggy’s they had no experience of driving strata! But the rescue took 2 hours and we gave up with the rising waters!!
We already have too much survielance in our lives, just talk to people instead and involve them with the problem and the solutions. If we all encourage 1 person to consider the damage they might be doing to someone's field, they might take notice (or not), but all those that do, will probably explain to someone else. Survielance will only lead to even less freedoms for the rest of us. I would also add that although churned up grass looks bad, it recovers pretty quick. My Gran had a stone roadway accross her farm, some good and some rutted from tractors, but when she stopped farming and rented out fields for grazing, it started to grass over, and now maybe 15 years later, it's not even visible on Google satellite views.
It is unbelievable that people especially buggy’s are driving this track during the current storms, people have died on this road in bad weather. Coupled with the absolute clown show of a recovery - stepping over winch lines in tension .! To say nothing of people standing around a live recovery with no one person in control. If the buggy with the lad in it had gone first there could have been another tragedy. Sadly all this video will do is make it even more target destination
I respect your comment at the end of the day everyone got to home safe! If we wasn’t there two men and a child in those buggy’s would not be alive today we did our best to try get the buggy out the water was rising faster than we could move so everyone was everywhere!..panic sets it it’s a difficult situation to be in!
They were crazy to come on there own in buggy’s two guys and a child!! If we wasn’t there 3 lives would have been lost that day! The failed rescue of the buggy took too long we was all cold wet and in shock so panic sets it but glad we all got out and everyone got to go home! 😎👍
Well done @all4wheels for being in the right place at the right time before strata could have claimed another life. If you wouldn’t have gone that day could have ended very differently.
Having been out with Adam and the team I know firsthand that they take safety and the conditions of the lanes very seriously. Always being respectful of the lanes and keeping to the correct track. Offering assistance in this instance and stepping in when things could have quite easily escalated is a reflection of the team. Well done. 👏 to everyone 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Really appreciate this comment buddy! I’m getting slammed left right and centre 3 people would have lost there lives that day! All people seem to go on about is the winch recovery!!
As much as I love this type of thing I can’t help but think it’s bad for your channel. You’re an advocate for green laning and were posting about off piste sections. To follow up with this is a little hypocritical. IMO it’s not a wise decision to post about being on strata in these conditions.
We was there to film the bad damage around strata the buggy’s joined us and we had a few chats off camera going back was not an option driving against the flow!.as the buggy entered the water too far left and actually started driving down it then We saw it was not stopping.
Everything after you got the guy out of the car was dangerous! Stupid and irresponsible. Winch lines around people At one point someone stood between the lines whilst the car was under tension. Look I get it you wanna help, but think people …. the car can be replaced, people can’t. There was a line to stop that recovery - sorry but you passed it.
Great video as always, I've read the previous comments ref safety in atrocious weather conditions, as a keen follower I know you Guy's from "All 4 Wheels" seem to respect the environment you are driving in, sadly there are those who do not, point in case with Buggy driver, hats off to you guys for being there to rescue the Buggy occupants, a couple of years ago, we were attempting Ben Nevis north side, which is notoriously difficult, has snow present for most of the year, we had our wet weather gear on, proper boots etc. We passed 2 people who were struggling, they were wearing trainers & just a light jacket, they were told in no uncertain terms to back down, which they did, you can't figure some stupid people🙄👍
i understand the love of mud plugging i really do, but what i cant understand is why people have to do it on green lanes in really bad weather when the they are at their most vulnerable , its so damaging to the tracks we love and will soon ALL be banned from. if you want to churn up the mud then pay and play. This is not meant as a hate comment or to point fingers, i just dont understand the need for it in theese conditions.
i heard the lost lake track was closed this year due to damage from careless and thoughtless 4x4 drivers. we are going to loose it all if somethig isnt done, to many people hate 4x4s as it is. gives the powers that be an reason/excuse to shut it all down and we wont have a leg to stand on.
@dazad1972 yea I’ve heard that too I’ve never ever done lost lake I’ve seen recent videos of people doing it..it’s such a mess it only happens on the popular lanes! That’s why we always stick to the lesser known ones or the well hidden!! Strata is just an open invitation to damage from bikes on the hills near south end to 4x4’s all over!
Hind site is always easy, yes mistakes were made , but I think you were there to help and you did . Well done . Lessons learned and even for the people who love to comment and know all , the mate did what needed done .
Fully appreciate this comment! It’s scary how everything happened it didn’t seem real then next thing we’re pulling the chap out the river! If we wasn’t there the 2 men and child would not be alive today but instead I’m getting slammed for it and the winching recovery it’s hard to think straight in these situations when they happen for real!
I spent a good amount of my childhood and teens green laning all over the uk with my dad, I've been down strata in 3 completely different vehicles (stock pajero, TOR feature pajero swb and an sj) and eventually getting into competitive offroad such as winch challenge and trials. we spent a lot of time with the club we used to be part of helping councils maintain green lanes and block off the off piste tracks that threatened the very existence of the green lanes local to where i live. id suggest that seasonal TRO's on the lanes that are most at risk of damage due to the wetter seasons or have a high risk for inexperienced off-roaders who may not fully understand the risks such as on strata in the winter, i remember several serious incidents back in the late 00's/ early 10's on strata and other potentially dangerous lanes during icy or flood conditions. Almost all the lanes within 50 miles of where i live have now been closed thanks to people abusing the lanes. its such a shame. it really makes me sad that ill probably never be able drive a lot of them now I've got my original competition sj back on the road and ready for some light laning and maybe comps again if anything still exists after 9 years out of it. me and my dad have travelled the length of the country in it doing lanes such as strata florida, the gatesscarthe pass in Cumbria and many many more all over England and Wales. hoping to do as many lanes as possible in Wales with a few mantes in unique old 4x4s next year. once wave all finished the rebuilds that is, mines the newest at 37!
WOW! For so many reasons this video needs removing! So many things done wrong and very dangerous and unfortunately it’s just promoting off peste driving. Not to mention the winching…. 😢
I respect your comment yes the winching was shambles but with so much happening we was wet cold and panic was set in we tried everything we could while under pressure from rising water the only off post we did was get a recovery line to the buggy other than that we stayed on the right track the whole way you saw in the video.. At the end of the day this guy is alive if we wasn’t there those two guys and child in the buggy would not be alive today..👍
@@ChristopherBennett-t2d I could not disagree more. The video is important as it highlights the dangers that can manifest very quickly. It is important for people to see that these roads are not all sunshine and rolling hills. A near miss is very good for focusing the mind and this video goes some way to share this with a wider audience. It also shows the benefit of not being alone. If that was a solo buggy, it would have been a long cold walk, or worse..
Finally someone that actually understands the importance of this video and not be scared of the anti 4x4 brigade and be hush hush hide the damage or dangers under the carpet!! You are spot on laning is not all rolling hills gentle farm tracks there’s so many other dangers that can happen in an instant.. Thankyou for putting this comment
Yeah they shouldn’t have made the trip all the way there with no experience! If we wasn’t there those 3 would not be here today!! Strange how fate works! If we didn’t have that issue at the start of strata we would have been through it and gone and those people in the buggies would be on there own and wouldn’t be here today!!
They had come from Shropshire when get got them back to the pub/hotel they had a big lorry they brought the buggys down..I know they was gutted leaving a 25/30k buggy behind but they came away with there lives!! 😎👍
Yeah they have made so much mess there with all the off piste! It’s crazy how much damage has come to strata! That first area just up from the abbey is disgraceful!!
These people who create new tracks and churn up the land really brass me off as they give responsible off roaders like you me a really bad name--bloody vandals in my opinion. Great Vid'.
Yes mate I’m with you on this!! I’m shocked at how people can freely just go and drive all over strata for a laugh and no regards to the after damage of what they have left behind! I’m more shocked with glass and other authorities for not engaging with me I put up a post of the damage on strata Florida Facebook group run by reps and they turned the comments section off on my post!!!
@@ALL_4_WHEELS yeah they do the same thing it doesn’t seem to matter that it maybe 20 k’s even fifty k’s long they still drive off the track and some of these sheep & cattle stations don’t have to let you in a few now leave it to the local 4wd clubs to arrange it and the muddy bit you had on video looks just like it here also cheers
Time and place they got lucky with you but ultimately there fault as no one should really be there in those conditions. neither should you 4s definitely a crowd if you where “only there to illustrate damage”. Can’t be an advocate while also being the enemy.
Oofff! That was an expensive lesson! Could have been so much worse though, that water was fast. Good on ya for helping as much as you did. I think I'd have just offered them a lift out 😬
Yeah it was 25-30k of buggy he really didn’t want to leave it behind we tried our best to get it out but we was putting our selves in danger wasting time with the rising waters so we had to go!!
Yea I spotted that when they joined that’s why I panned the camera over them..there was moss and lumps of mud everywhere definitely been playing in the swamps!!
Some words of advice that I learnt working an industry where dangerous situations like that can occurs. When people start panicking and doing dumb things you have to be able to step outside of the group "vibe" and take control of the situation. You have to be prepared to be rude and if necessary shout at people. I totally understand the guy wanting to get his buggy recovered and you guys wanting to help him, but it would have been so much better to have told him straight that it was 'stuck there till the water goes down, It's already a write off so trying to pull it out in those conditions, and when people have just had a fright and aren't in the right state of mind, isn't going to change anything.
A great bit of footage, clearly a bit sketchy, but you did a good job of showing the real dangers out there. Not my cup of tea, its bleak enough in a series2 as it is 😂 I'll wait till the sun is shining😂😂 Its allways good fun pushing the boundaries a bit, you just have to make sure you dont screw up😮 On the off piste bits, grass does recover incredibly quickly, but maybe the GLA should do a bit of work out there with some strategically placed posts. Where i am, farms have put up slightly agressive fencing using telegraph pole size posts on a couple of problem areas. Im sure a few posts and a bit of signage would help, maybe a bit of educational prescence from the various asociations would work as well. It must be in all their and our interests. Maybe linked with a bit of refuse collection. Its clearly a busy route, a weekend with a skip and asking everyone to bring a piece of junk back out with them. Involving people who might not otherwise want to help might help them see whats happening. A prize for the biggest piece of rubish!! Looks like theres a jeeep and a CanAm after this weekend😂😂
Mate I can’t believe people with no experience come to strata of all places and have never driven it before! They must of been of in the swamps playing as did t see anyone for ages and when they turned up covered in moss and mud..
@RichardGreener-ci5tv congratulations rich! I’m sure there will be plenty of days out for you to join us!! And less water about!! Look forward to meeting you next year!! 😎👍
This is not a good advert for off roaders. Adam, what can be done to keep the irresponsible off-roaders away? Authorities will eventually close these lanes to all off-roaders.
I don’t know I put a post up on the strata Florida green lane group and the green lane association turned the comments off!! No one has engaged with me from the authorities about what could happen to sort it out! There’s never any posts regarding looking after strata or repair days they seem to be letting it slip away!!
@traceyhart9607 yes all over the world 4x4ing is called off-roading in the uk it’s green laning..and the off-roading off m-piste is shocking to see I had to show it and showcase it to bring it to attention as I feel strata Florida is slipping away and getting too much abuse!!
Glass tend to do thing more behind the scenes because videos like this show the whole world what's going on yes, but people into their greenlaning know what is going on with strata but not everyone is on the side of sensible greenlaning and staying on piste, the muppets that go off piste won't and don't care and individuals and groups that are against greenlaning don't even have to leave their house to gather evidence against shutting lanes down along with the councils who have to maintain these lanes out of their budget so if they can use videos like this of how wrong it can go they can then shut the lanes "temporarily" until safety measures are put in place like bridges across the crossing or water diversion which cost a substantial amount so they will never reopen just like Soar y Mynydd which has been shut atleast 3 years on "temporary" TRO's @@ALL_4_WHEELS
I’ve got to agree with the other comments about doing this lane or any lane for that matter in these conditions - it doesn’t show our hobby at its best to be fair 🤔 I am sure you could of done a report on the condition in the spring when it’s dry?
Those people in those buggies clearly have no experience in the dangers and power of fast flowing water--that could have ended so much worse. And standing so close to the which wire under tension---snaps and it'll take your legs off!!
No experience abs they never driven strata before nice people but they were out of there depth with strata!! Glad we all managed to get out and home! Could have been a very different story!
Luckily enough we didn’t need to we manage to drive out and follow a fire access road back to the abbey and avoiding all the water! As it took Close to 2 hours trying to rescue the buggy the levels got dangerous so we needed to get out fast!
Glass tend to do thing more behind the scenes because videos like this show the whole world what's going on yes, but people into their greenlaning know what is going on with strata but not everyone is on the side of sensible greenlaning and staying on piste, the muppets that go off piste won't and don't care and individuals and groups that are against greenlaning don't even have to leave their house to gather evidence against shutting lanes down along with the councils who have to maintain these lanes out of their budget so if they can use videos like this of how wrong it can go they can then shut the lanes "temporarily" until safety measures are put in place like bridges across the crossing or water diversion which cost a substantial amount so they will never reopen just like Soar y Mynydd which has been shut atleast 3 years on "temporary" TRO'S
We was fine until the in experienced buggy drivers turned up and made it difficult for us and put us into a situation where we We lost a hour at start of the lane due to mechanical problem we would been long gone through strata, but the buggys joined us they was nothing to do with us and we ended up risking everything for them..
You had the blue 90 with a buckled steering bar by the looks of it that should've gone home from the start as last thing you need is knackered steering in that situation and you were all stood around the winch line which isn't a great idea, and when you did the river crossing you should've told the buggies to turn around as they weigh about 800kg and you should see the water was far too deep for them there and the track even further down is much worse and where someone died in a 4x4 being swept away let alone a buggy @@ALL_4_WHEELS
I always thought it was irresponsible to go to Strata when there has been alot of water/rainfall. Did the buggy just get slowly washed down. I saw it try and cross and jumped a few feet and stopped and then the footage was cut, nobody seemed to care or it seemed that way on video.
@ALL_4_WHEELS ahhh should have kept some footage in showing that. It looks like from a viewers point you all just watched him get swept away but if he went on driving down it then so be it 👍 atleast nobody was hurt.
Taking a child out in a buggy in those conditions was just foolish. The drivers should be ashamed of themselves for risking a life. The buggy should’ve just been tethered and everyone walk away until the water subsided. Lives matter more than expensive toys.
This is spot on with this comment! The buggy’s were probably in the swamps playing as they was covered in moss and mud.. I spoke to them Off camera they said they traveled from Shropshire to drive strata never done it before and no 4x4 experience..I know we shouldn’t have been there but I’m glad we was as the 2 guys and kid would not be alive today!!
@ having watched your channel for some time, I reckon as responsible laner’s you’ll all learn from this trip out. Sometimes a day tinkering with the cars or having a few beers is a better option. The buggy drivers need to stick to “pay & play” though as they were totally out of their depth (pun coincidental).
So gone up to make a video on the damages of off piste driving and then video'd your selfs going off piste? Those buggys should of never got to the crossings, any one with abit of knowledge of the trail and recent storm would of turned them round at the beginning, unbelievable silly to think they were going to get across!!
You do anything to try and rescue and help out we failed on the rescue attempt but hey we tried we was all wet panic set in and we was getting cut off in real life things happen so fast, after you think ah we could of done this or done that but in the heat of the moment it’s just happens so fast!!
Of course you have to do what you can to help, but ultimately you shouldn't of let them follow you, as a group leader responsibility needs to be taken, you wouldn't of needed to try and recover it if you explained the dangers of water crossings and the fact they won't get through and left them at the start. And it only takes one set of tyre marks that are off piste for someone to see someone's been that way and want to go and look, this is how most of the off piste mess start, someone makes a silly mistake and then make a mess trying to get back out and then other people follow to be nosey and see whats over there, seen it for years at strata
As someone new to laneing (yet to do strata) I try to research as much as possible and I’m a member of All terrain uk, but sometimes the track doesn’t look the right way to go if that makes sense and I feel like some sort of markers would be ideal to help people who don’t do research before they go to show where the track is
Yes this is what we was saying too! So many different routes it’s really hard to know the correct line if your new to green laning! Have you done strata before???
@dylansalt2376 yes when ever you use your spare always call it a day! Even us when we do that that’s it time to go home!! Glad you’re doing things right!! Did you go up or down elan for the steps section??
Adam would never put anyone in danger Frank, an outing takes hours and hours of planning and he knows what vehicles are going out beforehand. He’s repeatedly said they were not doing the whole lane and chose to leave due to rising water levels, but they could not leave these people stranded they even gave them lifts back to their hotel which the video also doesn’t show. Hope you are doing well and your little one is doing ok. 🙂
i ride bikes off road not cars, i have to say it is very nice to see people doing it correctly in cars and shows the skill required to do the little dance in the same way we do with bikes - the damage is a massive wtf and the fux who do it are just weak and scared of the terrain, clearly they do not have the talent to do the lanes the right way and so take the mud and create mess - wan7ers ! As for the guy who nearly dies - wow fella, hope you really learn from this
I those buggys are pretty dangerous in those conditions, plus it's those kinds of vehicles that are doing a lot of the off pisting, probably should have stayed at home!
Did you see the first one when it joined us it was covered in mud all over.. They looked pretty scared when they saw the water levels and had no experience or even driven strata before! To come from Shropshire to strata with out knowing what the water can be like is dangerous and shows when he couldn’t get out when he went down the river! He’s a lucky person! If we didn’t have our mechanical issue at start we would have finished strata fine! But because that fate changed things and if we wasn’t there those 3 people would have lost there lives yesterday!
@ALL_4_WHEELS yep covered in turf and grass all over the bonnet, it's a good job you guys were there, there's a good chance it wouldn't have ended well!
@johnhassall1782 yes we did t plan to drive it all as we knew the crossing after the bomb hole and the final crossing where the disco rolled it would be impassible,we couldn’t head back and drive against the water as the defender started taking on water so we had to find another way out!! Crazy how things go!!
Ur always going to get the haters saying don't go out in the wet mud or your not using your winch properly but if you hadn't of been there would the other buggy even have made it out without something happening to them as well? Keep up the good work guys 🤟
I also think that this type of content isn't helpful, nor wise as it may encourage others to make wrong decisions Firstly, there's no way you should have been on this notorious lane on the rising limb of the flood hydrograph. People have very short memories. As a reminder, in 2008 a 17 year old female was drowned when she became trapped inside a Discovery 1 in similar flood conditions on this very lane. The Disco was swept away while attempting to cross the biggest of the downstream fords. In 2010, the driver, a PCSO, who escaped the vehicle, was jailed for 2 years for causing death by careless driving. Under the circumstances, in rapidly deteriorating conditions, you should have gone just so far as to inspect the damage caused by off piste driving and then turned round. (BTW, the Ceredigion GLASS rep is already fully aware of all recent damage.) As for river crossing, many people don't realise just how many tons of side pressure can be exerted on a vehicle fording a deep fast flowing river. Winchlines can be used proactively to mitigate the risk of a 4x4 floating away. Do you even know how to do this? As a buggy owner myself, attempting the lane in buggies in the prevailing conditions was absolute madness. Both buggies should have been towed across the ford by the last 4x4, itself being attached by a tow line to the 4x4 in front. Where was the collective responsibility here? You make out that you're the "experts" and the fact that the buggies asked to tag along should have rung warning bells in itself. The already posted comment about the blind leading the blind seems to be a very appropriate one. Before someone takes a sarcastic pop, I feel qualified to comment as I have 45 years of offroading experience, including overlanding on 4 continents and 20 years experience as an offroad instructor. I've driven this lane over 20 times both in 4x4s and a Yamaha SxS. Finally, I'm very glad that no one was injured, or worse. Recovering the written off Can Am will doubtless be a challenge.
Correction it was the last/first ford (depending on direction of travel) where it was swept away not the biggest. I was GLASS rep at the time. But 110% agree with the rest of what you said.
We didn’t even get half way we planned to Turn around but the buggy situation cost us time so we was trapped and had to escape using the fire access roads back to the abbey.
Appreciate the correction and the support. I'm aware as to which ford it was, but I was thinking of water volume and river gradient when I commented. The river is at its most powerful on this ford. However I agree that this was unclear.
@DAVIDWilliams-gr9lx I agree on the water volume etc. When we did a sting op with CRAG, DPP PCC and GLASS I had the DPP officer that responded to the incident with me in my Disco. He was convinced that the driver of the Disco that rolled had turned too sharp as he exited and that was what caused it to roll. It was apparently in the middle of the convoy.
Check on the gear leaver should have super select 4lock (4 low with centre difflock) and you can drive it in 4H on the roads of it doesn’t have super select you can only drive 2H on the roads
It really needs sorting out!! There’s a lot of bike off piste on the southern end climbing the last big hill,it’s a shame 4x4’s and bikes with reckless drivers riders have damaged the land so bad!!
@julianjames I think it needs a seasonal Tro like sarn only open June July august to help protect it! I love sarn Helen it’s in such great condition for over 2000 years old! 😎👍
It’s strange isn’t it how they just come away from the track which is not a problem at all to only make a new visible problem that attracts mud pluggers to come along and treat it like a pay n play site! No respect for other users!!
Mate it’s beyond it really upset me to see strata just left like this and no one doing anything! And then for glass to turn off the comments on the strata Florida page yesterday when I posted those pics no one has engaged with me about the damage!!
That's GLASS for you mate. It's why I left. We'd be better off organising a repair day ourselves. Get some big boulders up there for the off piste stuff.
We saw them going in as we was leaving as we exited using the fire access roads we was above on part of strata and one the guys at the back said saw two vehicles heading in towards were we just came from..I did see the pics later on a Facebook group showing a jeep stranded in sane place the buggy got swept away
What a mad one that was Adam guys in the buggy could of been killed . Why did they go down off trail mate .They were safe thats the main thing. The lain damaged badly wales is a great play ground but respect our country to those who visit . Bet you were glad to get everyone off the mountain mate 👍
They came to wales from Shropshire just to drive strata in those buggy’s we was there just to film the damage in certain areas.. When the buggy enters the crossing he went to far left and got stuck but drove down the river to try find way out it was a bit surreal and then we realised he was in trouble! If we wasn’t there those 3 people would not be here today!..
@ALL_4_WHEELS Bloody hell mate they are lucky you let em piggyback you guys .Buggy can be replaced people can't can they .Wales is a dangerous playground isn't it Adam . A pensioner died yesterday here in Pontypridd walking his dog .Water Comes in so quick from the mountains and takes everything mate . Good on you guys for helping out .🙏
Thanks bud appreciate your comments! I hope with this video it shows the true power of water and what can happen if people come to places like this without any experience!! We abandoned strata before we got into any difficult situations with the rising water!!I’ve seen a lot of posts of all the flooding in south wales it’s crazy how quick it builds up! And how fast it flows!!!
Im sorry. I do enjoy your content but i think you were all bloody idiots being out there potentially risking yours lives and any rescue teams should you have got into trouble. I suggest you think hars next time yoy plan something so stupid.
I think you know you shouldn’t have gone in that weather now however as others have said, lucky for the can am driver you did. Well done for that. Keep the content coming, I mean no malice in my comment
They are not just for 4x4 use it’s for all users byways and ucr can be used by anyone from walkers cyclists to horse riders the idea to bring the attention of the damaged areas is to get them Repaired save a full closure..we do not want to loose these RoW we lost so many lanes during tbe 2006 nerc act! These lanes need protection and saving fast..the mud runs just attract more people to have a go and damage more land also it’s off the original RoW
It's like your tryna get the lane shut down by constantly going on saying it's wrecked. That's not wrecked mate wrecked is un navigable. Youse made it thru sound and am shure thousands of others will too.
It’s scary how things happen so fast rob! It did t feel real then next thing we’re pulling tbe guy out the river!
Those people with the buggies, all the gear no idea, they shouldn't have been out in those conditions
Well done boys! Good save there he could of been in a lot of bother there if it wasn’t for you
Cheers Gary! Yeah it’s hard to tell people but when Tom
And me was pulling the guy out when I looked at the guys face the fear and emotion he had was crazy he’s very lucky!!
But the state of all the damage on strata is unreal it’s everywhere new routes been made in different areas..
you shouldnt be out when its this bad. all it does is damage the tracks and areas people drive on. silly
We was on the hard surface not soft areas we was there to film the damaged areas not to drive the whole of strata..but we would have been ok if we didn’t have to rescue the Buggy’s they had no experience of driving strata! But the rescue took 2 hours and we gave up with the rising waters!!
Standing around winch lines excellent idea!!!!!!!
Not a good idea I agree but we was all soaked through cold and we just wanted to try get the vehicle out as best as we could!
You need to put game cameras up and shame them , am pretty sure everyone who wishes to keep using it for year's to come would agree with it.
It definitely needs something doing there!! To help protect it and fine the people trashing it!!
If we wasn’t there two men and a child in those buggy’s would not be alive today we did our best to try get the buggy out the water was rising faster than we could move so everyone was everywhere!..panic sets it it’s a difficult situation to be in!
oh, and well done for being heroes - you deserve a lot of credit for that behaviour and for trying for so long
Appreciate that comment but alot of people think otherwise if we wasn’t there those 3 would not be alive today..
Well done team, hopefully the buggy owners learned a valuable lesson that trip.
100% even though they said we shouldn’t of been there the two guys and kid would not be alive today!
We was there to film the bad damage around strata the buggy’s joined us and we had a few chats off camera going back was not an option driving against the flow!.as the buggy entered the water too far left and actually started driving down it then
We saw it was not stopping.
We ‘were’ there. I concur with Wellsr.
take vid off. you are going to close all the trails because of this vid, do it now its not good for any offroaders.
Fair enough you helped …but I wouldn’t be casually standing around them winch cables / rope while under tension ,rookie errors in my opinion.
So many mistakes were made we was cold wet and panic set it..at least the guy has he’s life could have been a different story! 👍
Funday out gutting about the buggy great content 🔥🔥🔥
Everything after you got the guy out of the car was dangerous! Stupid and irresponsible.
Winch lines around people
At one point someone stood between the lines whilst the car was under tension.
Look I get it you wanna help, but think people …. the car can be replaced, people can’t.
There was a line to stop that recovery - sorry but you passed it.
I respect your comment! End of the day we all went home! If we wasn’t there two men and a child in the buggy’s would not be alive today!
We passed 2 people who were struggling, they were wearing trainers & just a light jacket, they were told in no uncertain terms to back down, which they did, you can't figure some stupid people🙄👍
Appreciate your comment G! 😎👍
i understand the love of mud plugging i really do, but what i cant understand is why people have to do it on green lanes in really bad weather when the they are at their most vulnerable , its so damaging to the tracks we love and will soon ALL be banned from. if you want to churn up the mud then pay and play. This is not meant as a hate comment or to point fingers, i just dont understand the need for it in theese conditions.
Yeah the off-road abuse up there is beyond!! It really needs a seasonal Tro! Open June July august!
i heard the lost lake track was closed this year due to damage from careless and thoughtless 4x4 drivers. we are going to loose it all if somethig isnt done, to many people hate 4x4s as it is. gives the powers that be an reason/excuse to shut it all down and we wont have a leg to stand on.
You got some new photography equipment Adam as this is Really good and clear
Haha no I borrowed my mates phone halfway through! 😂😂
@ALL_4_WHEELS exactly 💯
Wow that was a lot of water about! Good job you guys were on hand to help those people in the buggies too
Yeah they shouldn’t have made the trip all the way there with no experience! If we wasn’t there those 3 would not be here today!! Strange how fate works! If we didn’t have that issue at the start of strata we would have been through it and gone and those people in the buggies would be on there own and wouldn’t be here today!!
@ they were crazy to do it. Plus I’ve never seen a more inappropriate use of a dry robe 🤣🤣
@SamDaviesBuilder haha I kept thinking of that dry robe Facebook group everytime I saw it haha! I’m sure you know the one I mean???😉
@ I know exactly the one you mean 🤣🤣🤣. Any idea how far these guys had come from on the buggies?
They had come from Shropshire when get got them back to the pub/hotel they had a big lorry they brought the buggys down..I know they was gutted leaving a 25/30k buggy behind but they came away with there lives!! 😎👍
Eventually police will ban 4x4 drivers for having way to much run. Accept police won't see it has fun. Anyway nice one on the rescue.
Those buggys are completely taking the p--. It’s no wonder the lanes are being shut down left right and centre.
Wtf 🤬if you can’t stick to the trail then turn around or back out ! Makes more sense!
@@ALL_4_WHEELShello there yes mate we may have heaps of areas to go but we also have these issues they piss me off also
@lesmondk3376 how bad is it over your way?? Do you get trails closed or repaired?
@@ALL_4_WHEELS yeah they do the same thing it doesn’t seem to matter that it maybe 20 k’s even fifty k’s long they still drive off the track and some of these sheep & cattle stations don’t have to let you in a few now leave it to the local 4wd clubs to arrange it and the muddy bit you had on video looks just like it here also cheers
You say how muxh people have trashed it at every section but then drive through it yourself?
We was on the right line the mud and all the mess is the bad area..we stuck the the official route 👍
Time and place they got lucky with you but ultimately there fault as no one should really be there in those conditions. neither should you 4s definitely a crowd if you where “only there to illustrate damage”. Can’t be an advocate while also being the enemy.
100% respect your comment..if we wasn’t there, the two men and child would not be alive today..we all escaped and got to go home safe..😎👍
Oofff! That was an expensive lesson! Could have been so much worse though, that water was fast. Good on ya for helping as much as you did. I think I'd have just offered them a lift out 😬
Yeah it was 25-30k of buggy he really didn’t want to leave it behind we tried our best to get it out but we was putting our selves in danger wasting time with the rising waters so we had to go!!
these have been going off the track, see all the mud and grass all over them before you went in water
Not my cup of tea, its bleak enough in a series2 as it is 😂 I'll wait till the sun is shining😂😂
Its allways good fun pushing the boundaries a bit, you just have to make sure you dont screw up😮
On the off piste bits, grass does recover incredibly quickly, but maybe the GLA should do a bit of work out there with some strategically placed posts.
The jeep must of gone in not long after we left!! The off-road damage is absolutely shocking! And it just goes on and on all over the place!!
Well done Adam et al on securing the crew of the buggy - wouldn’t have recommended that as a first time drive in a buggy - nuts.
Mate I can’t believe people with no experience come to strata of all places and have never driven it before! They must of been of in the swamps playing as did t see anyone for ages and when they turned up covered in moss and mud..
That’s crazy. Sorry I wasn’t there though, looked like an adventure. Daughter number to arrived now, so hopefully (finally) join you in the new year
@RichardGreener-ci5tv congratulations rich!
Thats the confusion difference between greenlaning and offloading.
Bloody hell! Dunno if I'd attach my landy to that thing!😂ATB👍👍👍
Luckily enough we didn’t need to we manage to drive out and follow a fire access road back to the abbey and avoiding all the water! As it took
Close to 2 hours trying to rescue the buggy the levels got dangerous so we needed to get out fast!
We was fine until the in experienced buggy drivers turned up and made it difficult for us and put us into a situation where we
We lost a hour at start of the lane due to mechanical problem we would been long gone through strata, but the buggys joined us they was nothing to do with us and we ended up risking everything for them..
He went too far left and went into deeper part and tried to drive down to find way out but the water pulled him down to the fence!! 👍
@ALL_4_WHEELS ahhh should have kept some footage in showing that. It looks like from a viewers point you all just watched him get swept away but if he went on driving down it then so be it 👍 atleast nobody was hurt.
My phone was having issues with the water so lost a fair bit of footage had to use my mates phone..😎
I spoke to them
Off camera they said they traveled from
Shropshire to drive strata never done it before and no 4x4 experience..I know we shouldn’t have been there but I’m glad we was as the 2 guys and kid would not be alive today!!
@jordanling7042 I appreciate your comments buddy😎👍
@ not yet no, was meant to of done it earlier this year but we did elan valley and popped a tyre towards the end of the lane, so called it a day!
It was trail marked by Treadlightly about 10 years ago(maybe more) but the buggers just broke the posts off deliberately.
@dylansalt2376 yes when ever you use your spare always call it a day! Even us when we do that that’s it time to go home!! Glad you’re doing things right!!
Did you go up or down elan for the steps section??
@edwardpercy2490 it needs some big blocks or rocks to block off these soft areas people are constantly going…
Why would people choose to drive sloppy mud over rock steps 🤯 wasnt like that when i drove strata 😤 shame
It’s absolutely wrecked it’s just a mess with bits of vehicles and tyres ,wood posts alsorts of junk in the mud such a shame how it’s been treated
You should be leading people not the first time you taken people out in and putting them in danger you don't know what your doing
I also think that this type of content isn't helpful, nor wise as it may encourage others to make wrong decisions
Firstly, there's no way you should have been on this notorious lane on the rising limb of the flood hydrograph.
(BTW, the Ceredigion GLASS rep is already fully aware of all recent damage.)
As for river crossing, many people don't realise just how many tons of side pressure can be exerted on a vehicle fording a deep fast flowing river.
We didn’t even get half way we planned to
Turn around but the buggy situation cost us time so we was trapped and had to escape using the fire access roads back to the abbey.
Fully respect your comment 😎👍
Blind leading the blind there...
Can see they got no experience..
They drove from Shropshire with those buggies to come to strata no experience or driven strata befor!! 😎👍
Any thoughts on a shogun lwb 3.2 for my daily and occasional deep mud and bog ?
If it’s got the super select very capable vehicle some good mud terrain tyres and a lift would be pretty good! 😎👍
I am incredibly new to all of this, but would love to get into it. Not sure if it has super select like you said. Will have to research.
I think it would suit a daily and occasional off road. A 2 inch lift would be adequate?
Just checked, it does have the super select 😂
Check on the gear leaver should have super select 4lock (4 low with centre difflock) and you can drive it in 4H on the roads of it doesn’t have super select you can only drive 2H on the roads
Can't wait for strata to be restricted to anything with 3 or more wheels
It really needs sorting out!! There’s a lot of bike off piste on the southern end climbing the last big hill,it’s a shame 4x4’s and bikes with reckless drivers riders have damaged the land so bad!!
@ALL_4_WHEELS yes I've seen that too, too much use I can see it being either being restricted or a seasonal tro like Sarn gelen unfortunately
@julianjames I think it needs a seasonal Tro like sarn only open June July august to help protect it!
I love sarn Helen it’s in such great condition for over 2000 years old! 😎👍
What i dont get is the off piste sections looked more difficult than the main route, but im guessing thats why theyve used it 🤷
It’s strange isn’t it how they just come away from the track which is not a problem at all to only make a new visible problem that attracts mud pluggers to come along and treat it like a pay n play site! No respect for other users!!
Will there be a part 2
That was all the footage for that day…
classs lad z cant wait till divorce is all done 4x4 all the way ❤😂
Sounds like it was the right decision you made! Enjoy the 4x4 once you get it!
Thats got worse since I was up there in October!
Was there a black grand cherokee swamped in the river?
We saw them going in as we was leaving as we exited using the fire access roads we was above on part of strata and one the guys at the back said saw two vehicles heading in towards were we just came from..I did see the pics later on a Facebook group showing a jeep stranded in sane place the buggy got swept away
What a mad one that was Adam guys in the buggy could of been killed .
Why did they go down off trail mate .They were safe thats the main thing.
The lain damaged badly wales is a great play ground but respect our country to those who visit .
Bet you were glad to get everyone off the mountain mate 👍
They came to wales from
Shropshire just to drive strata in those buggy’s we was there just to film the damage in certain areas..
When the buggy enters the crossing he went to far left and got stuck but drove down the river to try find way out it was a bit surreal and then we realised he was in trouble!
If we wasn’t there those 3 people would not be here today!..
@ALL_4_WHEELS
Bloody hell mate they are lucky you let em piggyback you guys .Buggy can be replaced people can't can they .Wales is a dangerous playground isn't it Adam .
@ALL_4_WHEELS
Yea the taff burst it's banks big time here Adam .Stay safe out there mate 👍 👌
@brickrightbuildinglandscaping cheers buddy and you be safe too! Hope you’re not up on top of any buildings this week!! 😎👍👍
Shit happens !
It certainly does!! And always when you least expect it! A nightmare of a day!
Im sorry. I do enjoy your content but i think you were all bloody idiots being out there potentially risking yours lives and any rescue teams should you have got into trouble. I suggest you think hars next time yoy plan something so stupid.
I respect your comment 😎👍
I think you know you shouldn’t have gone in that weather now however as others have said, lucky for the can am driver you did. Well done for that. Keep the content coming, I mean no malice in my comment
I can’t understand why your moaning about damaged byways, these areas sole purpose is for off-road only vehicles what difference does it make?
They are not just for 4x4 use it’s for all users byways and ucr can be used by anyone from walkers cyclists to horse riders the idea to bring the attention of the damaged areas is to get them
Repaired save a full closure..we do not want to loose these RoW we lost so many lanes during tbe 2006 nerc act!
It’s a mess it’s been going on too long and need something done about it..
its a Greenlane and your moaning about mud
