Actually a solid overview video on DDON and what it was. The restoration is still very earlt in development but the people working on it have been making so much progress recently that me and the Zuhl channel are already getting out of date with our updates lol. I'm glad that with this restoration many more people will get to experience, in my opinion, the best game of the Dragon's Dogma franchise.
It's really cool to see that Capcom took a great inspiration from DD Online to create the new classes in DD2. Mystic Spearhand is an absolute unit of a vocation, I hope they add more vocations with the upcoming DLC and include an online feature so players can create parties to slay monsters in Vermond and Bathall. Something similar to Elden Ring, a simple coop mode with a quest tracker shared between parties. If they add legacy dungeons or more simultaneous boss encounters, this would improve substantially the DD experience. One of the most epic fights I had in DD2 was when I came across two Armored Ogres in Bathall and mid fight a Griffin lands and suddenly it's a 4 v 3 brawl. Imagine fighting 3 or 4 bosses at the same time with 3 other players, that would make for some epic gameplay like no other game has ever done.
I just want to have full on coop, what i wouldn't given to have coop in DDDA and smash Bitterblack Isle with my demented bro, or run away from Eliminators, Living Armors and worse case Death, its a very much so missed opportunity to not have coop feature in games like these

The game was good back when it was live, I gotta say. Capcom didn't solely cancel DDON: back in 2019 they shut down their entire MMO company subdivision, Capcom Online Games. This is why DDON and Monster Hunter Frontier both shutdown at the same time. COG only operated in Japan - there were several other COG-exclusive MMOs that went under at that time as well. After Monster Hunter World did so well, the COG shutdown gave me hope that they were going whole-hog with DD2 since we knew it was in the pipeline even back then... TBH, it's actually sinful how little of DDO made it into DD2. On top of repeating so many mistakes and shortcomings of the first game (seemingly an intentional repeat in some cases, even), DD2 had the absolute NUTS on it to make the fashion and armor customization worse than the first game and DDO. At this point, the DDON server revival is the only stake I still have in this IP. Even if they continue to fumble it going forward, I know I at least can always go back to something that works for sure: DDON (and DD;DA when I'm in the mood).

I'm not usually an online kind of player, but during the wait for DD2, I jumped into Monster Hunter, so if Capcom brought back DDO with random group raids and such, I'd be all for it. While stuff like this is always better with friend groups, planning, etc, I don't exactly have that, so it's nice when you can just jump in with randos and have a good session or two before jumping back off. Plus, Dark Arisen is probably my favorite game ever, so yeah, I'd jump into DDO if/when it becomes properly available.
As an avid fan of both Monster Hunter and Dragon's Dogma, imo Monster Hunter kind of scratches the same itch that Dragon's Dogma does combat-wise. And vice-versa.
