I think Indonesians use chopsticks specifically for noodles, dumplings etc. They don't use chopsticks in general like for eating rice

    • @harveymoon4188

@@user-dx8io I know. That's why it's only specifically for noodles, dumplings or when you're eating east asian food. We don't use chopsticks for rice dishes in general and not everyone can use chopsticks because we are free to use any method, as long as you're comfortable it's all good.
I guess people only use a fork to eat instant noodles because of its practicality. Most foods like Mie Ayam, Mie Gacoan etc, they only provide chopsticks not forks or spoons. But i guess it's all about preference and every place in indonesia can be different.

I think you guys switched the Indian and Indonesian girls' flags and names at the beginning when you introduced them so you might want to pin a disclaimer in the beginning.
In Thailand we use chopsticks quite a lot of course since a lot of our food does use chopsticks (Noodles (Soup, dry, stir-fried...), Thai BBQ, Thai hotpot etc.) but everyone uses it wrong mostly so I was so curious to see how the East Asian people would feel seeing Thai people use chopsticks lol ~ I think they would feel really offended but we can't help it since we don't have a culture where chopstick usage is taught so we kinda just figure it out ourselves (Maybe in more recent Thai-Chinese families). The person who taught me how to use chopsticks 'correctly' or the traditional way was my Dad (Who's from the UK) but lived in Hong Kong for many years and not my mum, who is Thai-Chinese (3rd generation) lol.
We mostly use disposable chopsticks when eating out of course, but at home the chopsticks my family used was generally quite rectangular and thick (also quite long) so I guess it would be most similar to Chinese chopsticks. However, I wonder if chopsticks also vary in different regions from China, I think in Thailand if chopsticks were used, they would probably be most similar to those used in Southern China since that's where many Thai people have roots from (especially Thai-Chinese).

I think most Southeast Asians can relate, or at least in Thailand based on my personal experience.
Add in hands for some foods that just HAVE to be eaten with the grippers for optimal taste and feeling. Fork and spoon for rice dishes, for Northeastern Thai food sticky rice is often used, so then we use a mix of hands and fork at times and then chopsticks for anything with noodles or hotspot/bbq like. The only thing I never used properly and have been scalded throughout my childhood was not using a knife and fork properly by my British Dad.
Having tried all cuisines, Korean chopsticks seem the most unoptimal for me since they're so hard to use with their shape and just seem counterintuitive at times lol but maybe I'm just incompetent.

Spoon is very vulnerable, it can pick up any food or soup but sometimes its hard to cut food without fork. Hand is also very vulnerable but it cant pick up hot food or soup. Fork cant pick up soup, but itz perfect if you match it with spoon / knife. Chopstick cant pick up soup, but its very vulnerable if you know how to use it.
