I remember this was supposed to be on TV here in Britain in the early 90s. I had seen it in the TV guide and circled it, I was looking forward to it all week, it was all anyone could talk about at school, we couldn't wait. Then on the day I sat down to watch it, but it wasn't on, football was on instead. I was so disappointed. It's great to finally see the war of the monster trucks after all these years!
I remember back in the mid 80's Christmas time and ITV, this and other special Monster Trucks special used to come on and I`d get my best VHS and record and watch over and over again.
My big brother got this tape in his Christmas stocking way back when and I got a Transformers video. Holy crap what a time machine this was. Thank you so much for posting.
This was decent but the first two shows were better, Battle and Return, during the first two is when i feel the USHRA was more independent with less regulations and the owners built as individuals with few guidelines. By part 3, War, I could tell a bit of change in the culture as it began the journey towards what we see now in Monster Jam, a suit-and-tie corporate culture where everything is monitored and measured and weighed like NasCar. I can watch the 1984-1988 stuff all day long, but todays Monster Jam is my nap times. To me the spirit left long ago.
@@delljr2769 when they were still trucks, or at least based of real cars and trucks and vehicles, and they had variety in engines and designs, now about the latest inventive thing was an electric powered bigfoot, but it dont have the hype of the roaring engine, and you dont have the monster tanks, sure its safer now and can do more things with them and quite a bit more power, but I like to watch racing not just freestyleing and who can rip and smash their truck up the most, and after all all the monster jam trucks are owned by the same entity, its canned it dont have bigfoot or the genuine team vs team anymore on tv. and you dont have the differant configs, like as I said in other comments on the classic monstertruck videos like the allison engin on awesome kong 2, monster van with its diesel, or the doubles of the big foot fasttrax. or little preditor for that matter. as for me herculies doing a car crush at our towns fair days back in 1986 or so, then came back in 87 its was getting ready to rain I remember the lightning in the background as herculies jumped into a wheel stand going over that first car, though they had to hit it with starter fluid as it refused to turn over at first.
Anyone else in their 40s who went to these events as a kid now asking themselves why anyone thought it was ok to have families with kids sitting floor level with just a plywood fence for safety between them and a monster truck? My 80s child hood was dangerous but man was it fun.
GREAT vintage video👍brings back memories, I drove THE ENFORCER,84 Chevy Scottsdale 468 BIG BLOCK 875hp. I went against BIG FOOT(bob chandler driving)at Indianapolis fair grounds in 87. I BEAT him on a obstacle course. Bob & Marilyn were GREAT folks.my wife & I had dinner with them that first night. The show lasted 5 days. HAD A BLAST, spent some $$$$ that week LOL. We trailered it out from Connecticut LONG ASS drive. THANKS for the video 👍👍✌️✌️🙂
Yepp same as everyone else, had this tape as a kid and wore it out, lost track of it, 20 years later im playing with my son and his monster trucks and remeberd this program, iv spent hrs on youtube looking for it and now that I have just wow pure nostalgia
Anybody remember when monster trucks were loved and were cared for And they were built well and they were real trucks and not a frame with a fiberglass body
Back when monster trucks were actual trucks and not pieces of fiberglass screwed to tube chassis. Check out the dudes hanging out the window. No helmet. Badass moustaches. Love the 80s. But then again, we now have trucks doing backflips and getting massive air. Great to see where it all started.
I don't know how Bigfoot didn't win that first competition, not saying the other guys sucked, but Bigfoot put on the best show by a long shot in my opinion.
They were pretty primitive in those days, compared to the 21st-century purpose-built trucks. Those military-surplus axles broke CONSTANTLY, especially if the trucks came down from much more than ten feet in the air. You'll also notice how few of the 80s monster trucks had big-time sponsors; what these guys broke, they not only had to fix, they had to PAY for. I love the old ones and the new ones, myself; these early machines were imperfect but more down-to-earth, but it is AWESOME to watch the modern monsters do the back-flips, innit?
First Blood did better that night. The tug-of-war was a high spot in this video, you dont see that anymore. This 3rd tape was the worse of the 3, it was so bad they had to edit in footage from the first two tapes, they just used different camera angles.
Monster trucks in the 80's legitimately had a huge effect on the shortage of late 50's, 60's, and 70's cars. Tens of thousands were sacrificed to the monsters.

I can't believe I ran across this video after all these years! I remember having this on VHS as a kid and I watched it over and over again in the 80s!

This was one of my favorite tapes as a kid. Too cool!
Glad you enjoyed it!

Blood sweat and gears😁
30 years later and finally found it, thanks man for upload this piece of nostalgic movie, i just to watch this movie when i was a kid
Omg!!! Had this tape as a kid!!! Wow!!!
Parents taped this for me off TV back in the day, (it was aired on UK television circa 1989) and I can only be forever thankful for the memories.
My big brother did the same thing, mid 80's Christmas time and when ITV was awesome.
I can hear Army Armstrong talking on the PA system. Too cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I used to watch this ALL THE TIME when I was a kid. Badass
Wish it was still like this better than today
Agreed i like the jumps and stuff they do now but theese were real monster trucks with real bodies❤
Wow Brings back memories as a kid. I still have this on a VHS tape and it still has the scary beep noise at the very end lol
Anybody remember when monster trucks were loved and were cared for
And they were built well and they were real trucks and not a frame with a fiberglass body
Some people still make them like they used to
Favourite VHS i had as a child, great to see it on here. Thanks :D
Thanks for watching. I was obsessed with Bigfoot as a kid.
The Orange Crush was my favorite. Nice to see vids like this posted. Good reminder of where we came from.
My childhood right here
I'm over a year late, thanks for uploading.
I'm just weeping for those poor old (now) classic cars.
I still have this! I watch it all the time
Loved this as a kid. Still have the VHS.

Love how they didn't precrush the cars. Just give er and hope for the best!
Me too, I loved how they are not crushed before the show
The Aussie battler 1 was hiding in the gayrogge
Glory days of our era.....
They're all winners, no one is a loser here!
Awesome memories, watched this on vhs religiously
No idea how these tapes ended up in Australia in the 90s but I used to watch them flat out
Yeah same, i hired this and the others from civic video so many times
Man.....the sport has come along way since than.....
Back when fan judging was actually feasible
-Grave Digger hits 2 jumps then breaks down: SCORES 10'S ACROSS THE BOARD
Bruce Flanders?..dude looks like Uncle Rico from Napoleon Dynamite
I love the segment with the escape artist and Rollin Thunder crushing the 2 cars.
I don't know how Bigfoot didn't win that first competition, not saying the other guys sucked, but Bigfoot put on the best show by a long shot in my opinion.
...”...its alot like a Hockey Rink....a matter of fact it is a Hockey Rink!”
I wore out a couple vcr's watching this tape when I was a kid😊 miss these trucks, they were real trucks. The Bigfoot in action tape helped too😂
The Good Ole Days
Proper Monster trucks.
31:00 love this when I was kid and still do
White bear lake, MN is my hometown
There are pictures floating around of that blazer on the tracks rotting away in some guys field
Not anymore. It's been FULLY restored and is well cared for. It's still munching up old steel.
What the guy above me said. It did get retired and sat rusting but someone bought it to bring it back to life recently
1:40 looking at him with love
Classic stuff. They seemed so cautious back then, compared to today where these things are doing backflips.

Also a few of the drivers aren't even wearing a helmet lol
600 hp for the Crimson Crusher. My have times changed.
Nostalgia
All hale the king of the monster trucks
When trucks where real trucks
Old memories

You'll still see tug of wars at mud pit/mega truck events. Just not with cars. Still, it's cool to watch.
That 1st driver looked like he just rolled out of bed
Yes and it is right hand drive
That's a cool corvette.
i think my right speaker is broken
Bigfoot was the grave digger from back then
I like how they just reused footage from return of the monster trucks lol
Monster trucks in the 80's legitimately had a huge effect on the shortage of late 50's, 60's, and 70's cars. Tens of thousands were sacrificed to the monsters.
One of these trucks was Red Baron. It wasn't real but it was on a picture of cars where no one was watching. The rest were real
Great stuff, love it!
Thanks!
How did do they do that with the body of the monster truck
Hydrolics
very awesome and would u try and upload battle and return of the monster trucks plz
Ryan Hayward I would if I had it. If I can find it I will.
that's fine
COOL!
Where’s Truckasaurus?
Thumbs up if you think that guy driving the truck looks like the uncle from Napoleon Dynamite
Was that the Bruce Flanders?
Yes.
13:41
