I love watching Dragons’ Den and I have to say that was one of the best pitches, if not the best I have ever seen. To have both the design gifts and business acumen in one person is truly amazing. I would have been throwing money at her.
This is the type of girl you take home and introduce to your mom, and say 'mom here's your new daughter in law'.

she brags about having lots of unpaid interns, which is great for her business. It’s unbelievable that unpaid internships are still a thing. Every job should require at least minimum wage. Unacceptable. If you’re allowing people to have labor for free, you are artificially inflating that business’s level of actual success.

A lot of Interns get turned for jobs because so many companies only hire when people have experience. That unpaid work could lead them to having the experience to get a job.

Kids who want to learn, and can see their efforts gain recognition is reward enough when you like the work you do. Were not all Tony Blair .
Very true, it also means that only rick kids with family connections in London can afford to take these internships. Completely discriminates against working class people and people from the north. They don't need to be paid a fortune but they do need at least enough to live on and a roof. There are much better ways of providing internships, e.g an apprenticeship program with a livable stipend.
600-700 a month for a PR agency wouldn't do anything. That would just be the retainer minimum, not ad spend, design and placements.
That was like 20 years ago.

@@RodRyan-tc6cs don’t forget this is from 2008 or around that time - not gonna argue with you over something from back then, but the looks where and are still dreadful- FairPlay to the woman for going on dragons den and pitching it’s not easy thing to do, I had a dream of starting my own clothing line a few years ago and I never did. So admire the woman for starting her own business.

Just nosed about online and she has an instagram. She sells design/patterns for fabric, the designs are lovely. Went round Australia in a camper van with her dog too. She's living it up!
