Hello. I am new to your channel. I must say that you are a natural born teacher. You explain everything so well and have a very pleasant speaking voice. Thank you for an excellent tutorial! 😊
I love your easy instructions. I'm uncomfortable sewing at a quilting retreat as my self confidence is low. But I can do these! Retreat is next week, and I'll I'll be confident making the pot holders. Thank you so very much.
Thanks Sheril…all your tip and tricks and your tutorials are very educational and so worth the time to watch….I’ve been sewing all my 60 years and I still learn something new.😊
Hi Karol. I have been sewing for over 60 years also, and I am sure I can learn a few tips and tricks from you. Glad you liked the pot holder tutorial. Thanks for watching💗and happy sewing😍
I successfully made one of the potholders yesterday and it turned out so nice!!! Thankyou for the excellent tutorial! I attached it to a kitchen towel for my sister.
Hi Sherrill. I have a question. In the video when you talk about cutting the fabric for the binding, first you said 2 inches wide but then when giving the cutting instructions you mention 2.5 inches wide. Is one size better than the other, does it matter, or was that a blooper? Thank you so much!
Hi Lisa. I think that was a blooper - LOL. Some people cut their bind 2" wide. But my favorite is 2.5". Cut it the size you like the most. Hope this helps. Glad you liked the pot holder tutorial. Thanks for watching💗and happy sewing😍
Hi Kriss. I don't recommend felt because it is not 100% cotton. You can cut up old towels and use that as long as the towel is 100% cotton. You can purchase cotton batting on the internet -- joann.com, walmart.com, amazon.com. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching💗and happy holidays😍
Sherrill, when you quilt on the self binding method, do you quilt from corner to corner, including the binding, or do you just quilt the center part? Thanks. Pat
Hi Patricia. You can quilt all the way out to the edge, or just stay in the center. There are no rules. I it differently each time. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching💗 and happy sewing😍
What about using thinsel brite instead of cotton batting. I’m not sure all of the spelling is correct but I’m pretty sure you will know what I’m asking. I hope you and your family are ok from the hot air.
Hi Betty. I don't use it very often in pot holders. But I do use it in oven mitts. The Insul-bright package instructions say to use 1 layer of cotton batting and 1 layer of Insul-bright. It doesn't matter which one is on top. They are placed in between the fabric for the top and bottom. Hope this helps. Glad you liked the pot holder tutorial. Thanks for watching💗and happy sewing😍
I use Warm and Natural. You can also use 1 layer of Insul-Bright with 1 layer of cotton batting. The Insul-Bright blocks the heat. You can get it at Joann Fabrics and Crafts and amazon.com. Glad you liked the pot holder tutorial. Thanks for watching💗and happy sewing😍
Hi Susan. Use one layer of cotton batting and one layer of Insulbright. It does not matter which order they are placed in. The cotton batting and Insulbright are place in between the top fabric piece and the back fabric piece. Hope this helps. Glad you liked the pot holder tutorial. Thanks for watching💗and happy sewing😍
@juliatepe5760 photos hopping. I hate bindings. I did a 9×13 potholder from another person and the binding was awful to do. Sheryl's 2nd binding is super easy and that's what I plan to use next time
I hope you’re ok Sheryl. You don’t seem to be feeling good. I enjoyed the video and will probably be making more potholders but just wanted to let you know you’ll be in my thoughts. Bless you until next time. 👩🌾💙🧵🪡

can i use wool felt sheets instead of cotton batting? i just hapen to have felt but no batting and don't live near a fabric store.

Are these really good for heat? I definitely need new ones but I've never had homemade ones

Can you tell me what brand of batting you use? I want to make sure it won't burn my hands when picking up a hot pot. thank you.

Where would the insulbrite go in the layers?
I believe in other tutorials she used one layer of each - batting and insulbright d/t thickness.
I use the insulbright also. The packaging tells you where to place it.
Potholders are fun to make. Also a good way to use up some scraps for low cost gifts. Great tutorial , thank you!
@juliatepe5760 photos hopping. I hate bindings. I did a 9×13 potholder from another person and the binding was awful to do. Sheryl's 2nd binding is super easy and that's what I plan to use next time
Does it matter what kind of cotton you use?
Hi Anne. I recommend using 100% cotton fabric. Glad you liked the pot holder tutorial.. Thanks for watching💗and happy sewing😍
