First of all I love these videos and I love this pattern. HOWEVER...I would sell my soul to understand this standing double crochet. Not the one when you're starting with a new yarn color... that's easy. I mean the one where you've just slip-stitched in from a previous round and then you do... whatever it is on god's green earth that you're doing. I have slowed the video down to its slowest speed (where it's still kind of a blur because it's the thing you do the fastest). I have zoomed in. I have put it on the biggest screen I have and have put my face up against it. I have hired NASA engineers to examine the footage. OK, maybe I didn't do that last part, but I don't think it would help. I have copied every single rapid strange wrist flick you perform, and I still can not duplicate what you're doing. When I try that second half where you're speedily grabbing that second loop and whipping around behind the pulled up twisted thingie, there will always be essentially THREE loops on the yarn, because it's twisted back on itself. When I try to look up anyone explaining a standing double, they demonstrate one from a new tie in. I cannot find anyone else who is doing this weird thing you are doing, other than the pulling up the loop part. I have been crocheting for years and I have never, ever come so close to burning every inch of yarn I own and melting down all of my hooks to turn into something with which I can stab out my own eyeballs. Can anyone link me to a video where someone is demonstrating this bizarre and mysterious thing without flicking and rotating their wrists fifty times at hyper speed to perform this magic trick? Please? I will give you my first born child as a thank you. Granted, she's in her thirties now, so all the cute has worn off her, but I will give her to you anyway. She's a good cook.
Haha you are too sweet! I believe it’s better shown in the tutorial for the first week of the CAL. Do you have Instagram? I could send you a clear video there. But I’ll try to write it out here: you begin by raising a loop to the height of a dc. Then you turn your hook BACK AROUND the loop (which will make it twist around itself), grab the yarn and pull it back to the front. You should now have two loops on your hook, yarn over again and pull through both and voila: you (should 😉) have a standing double crochet.👌
@KMRockwell this made me smile. Never have I come across someone who summed up the frustration so well. I can go from calm to losing my mind depending on the stitch but I’ll soldier on! How the hell did people learn without UA-cam 😅
I love this project, once again so easy to follow the instructions. I also love your patience and enthusiasm.
Awww thank you so so much, it means the world to hear.
Wow! Such interesting and unique stitches. I love it! ❤
This is so awesome, I am finally making the pillow and you are so good at explaining! Thank you!!! 😍
