This is probably the best depiction of siblings I've ever seen in a video game. With most games focuses on romantic relationships/"shipping" or sibling rivalries, the focus and care put into their character interactions as siblings is easily the best I've seen in a video game. The story is just absolutely incredible.
Yeah, honestly I think the little kid is super well written, too. Obviously there are some conflicts that only arise because of him doing stupid kid stuff, but he's still likeable throughout the story.
@@TheCrimsonS4ge disagree, a tale of two brothers fitted more with traditional sibling portrayal, especially with the death of the older brother which is a constant sibling trope of one sibling dying. This breaks the mold in numerous ways 1) there is almost never a depiction of a older sister, younger brother. Primarily because the media, especially video games have issues with a boy being protected by a woman. Usually it's a male protecting a boy or girl. 2) while there was other elements involved, the sibling dynamic and relationship remained the central core throughout the entire game, not just a good majority like a tale of two brothers, 3) As mentioned earlier, it broke the sibling trope having one of the siblings die. To be honest, the only small issue I had with the dynamic was the sibling trope sibling rivalry they went into during the beginning of the third act. If it wasn't for that, it probably would have been not only my favorite portrayal in video games, it probably would be my favorite within Western Media. (Eastern media is a different story, but that's because they have much stronger family dynamics so of course they would be able to tell the best family based stories)
Leo 619 an impressive paragraph. You sound as though you know what you are talking about. I’ll take your word for it that this is the greatest depiction of siblings a video game.
Or the ability to pass a torch instead of leaving it behind. Hell being able to just hold more than one branch at a time would have been awesome. Let me help you climb this ledge but before I go up here is the torch set it aside while I get up!
Sadly, it wouldn't have made any sense to keep Lion throughout the story. (Rest in peace, game Pupper.) He would have most likely succumbed to the plaque and ended up endangering Amecia and Hugo.
Legit, this is ALL the mother's fault. She kept both kids blind and it backfired COMPLETELY. They were both inept at dealing with the emotions that came along with Hugo being sick, that came with dealing with the rats, and that came with dealing with the damn inquisition. Amicia seems like a very smart girl and if prepared beforehand, she coulda dealt better with the whole situation. Hugo wasn't contagious so she had no excuse to even keep her away. Also, bcuz Hugo had only been with his mama, he was ESPECIALLY susceptible to any ploy using her, which is why he ran away and was so easy to control when they threatened her. Tbh, the most annoying part of this to me, is keeping them completely in the blind and expecting them to be OK.
You can never understand the actions of a person, no less a mother, unless you experience it yourself. A mother will do what she thinks is best for her children but A it doesn’t mean she won’t make mistakes along the way. That’s life man

The voice actors and by extension the sound team, what a grade A job. Everything was done to perfection, this should have easily won the sound design award!!!!
The characters are very likeable and interesting, the voice acting is just perfect (especially Melie and Vitalis for me). Also its really fun to think how this is set in the medieval age and the main characters are playing a role just like one of those classic rpgs through the gameplay. Amicia = Ranger Hugo = Mage Rodric = Blacksmith/Tank Melie and Arthur = Thief Lucas = Alchemist Edit: Also great video! Loved the gameplay.
2:47:01 the fact that Amicia says this shows how much she's had to steel herself through everything during the events of the game. When she first killed someone, which is Conrad in that town near the church, she was so remorseful, regretful, praying for forgiveness in the church, but now is not hesitant to threaten to kill anyone who so much as touches her little brother. Also, I believe this is foreshadowing of the rage and insanity we see in Amicia in the Requiem trailers. How the Macula is now affecting her, only more psychologically, making her angry and prone to violence, it's wonderful to see it was probably already building up in that scene.
Rodric's apology to Hugo near the end broke my heart. He gave everything he possibly could to help the group, yet he still wished he could give even more. This game's story is simply Goddamn amazing, though a part of me wish it wasn't so sad. Looking forward to more from Asobo Studio.

I have to say, I really like this Game. The story was pretty dark yet powerful. I love the characters, Amicia and Hugo feel very realistic for their ages (15 and 5) and the unwanted adventure they both had to go through. Definitely feels like the PlayStation exclusives but with a combined take.

My heart feels heavy with this game. I have a little cousin, also called Hugo, whom I grow up with more like brothers that cousins. We are 14 years apart but dAMN I will do anything for that kid... I feel Amicia, and I will have to be calm if I play this game ‘cause probably I will freak out everytime Hugo separates from me, like I do when he does irl
Wow, it’s crazy how different she looks compared to A Plague Tale: Requiem. I mean, I understand it was made from a much smaller group of people. It’s just cool, that’s all.
I fell in love with this game sooo much!! Holy sh@t this game caught me by surprise!! No regrets of owning this game. The story, the visuals, the music...smh the sounds of those strings playing. I can't wait to see what Asobo Studios has next in store for the future.
This was sooooo good. I am bummed Melie didn't stick around. Kinda shipped her with Amicia from the beginning. But there's always the future, even if there's no sequel.
Spoilers under in case anyone is reading the comments (Except for this part, if you see the dead boar at the beginning of the hunt with Amicia and her dad, SKIP LIKE A MINUTE AHEAD. THE DOG DIES). So WOW. This game. I like the gameplay in that you have to rely on a ranged weapon. You really can't just muscle your way through, you have to be dextrous. Also effin' hell, Arthur and Rodric's death HURT. Arthur didn't get enough of a chance to develop since he was only back for a short time but it still got me sad. Rodric's death though, DAMN. I was near BAWLING, especially when he slumped against the gate like that. Rest in peace, my dude. All in all, a really good story with really good character dynamics.

Kinda weird how a Smith's son knows how to snap a neck. Was his father an Assassin?
😂
1:08:30 You don't have to kill that soldier if you light the lamp next to him he lives and let's you leave peacfully
Never have I seen such a beautiful display of synchronized rats.
Can we take a moment of silence for Rodric? Rest in peace, you beautiful creature.
Damn I thought there gonna be good family and friends but the death of rodric and Arthur
I remember seeing trailers for this when it was coming out. It’s really awesome!
This is a really good story. I love it
Watching this before playing requiem
Awesome game and awesome gameplay as always
Thank you so much for all the effort and upload
Best cut scenes ever..I love this game
Amazing. I am so excited to watch this.
Hope you enjoy the video. The game was a blast to play. We really enjoyed it.
@@glp Really, that is great to know. I would love to play it. Thanks for uploading the story because it looks so amazing.
Damn these graphics are so amazing
Hugo the Rat King
Amecia halfway through the game: slingshot is OP
Beatrice near the end: Hugo you can control an army of rats
Was expecting Geralt of Rivia suddenly appears :D
Geralt: rats?. That is not my department.
Hugu's such a cute boy, He's the other version of Pied Piper. A kinda happy ending. 😁
Thanks for this. I loved this game
Amazing heart touching story, loved it. Thanks for it
Just downloaded the sequel to play and need to know what happened in the first game. Thank you!
I heard Vernon Roche when Amicia was held for ransom by that Englishman.
It'll be interesting to see a prequel or something about this, especially they have connected this game with the Justinian Plague in the 5th century.
If there is a sequel. Im not really interested in this game about children surviving the black death. Turn into some sex fantasy.
We all shipped Amicia with Mélie.
Amazing, thank you for your work!
1:08:32 can you actually save him, I think there's a lantern on the wall near the guy
Even though some of the facial expressions are so bad, I love this game. Just goes to show how important characters are in fiction.
I’m half way thru and I gotta say if anything happens to Lucas, Imma slap someone
