That's the web-site I've been using to do my research. I wouldn't use any of the mainland reality companies.

Hey, you're not alone. Even my relatives told me the same thing when I told them I bought a land there. I put up a gate just because of it and came to realize it's nothing close to what they said. My neighbors were awesome, and everyone looked out for another. Bought two more parcels on a different street, and everyone on it came to say hello and told me they're all looking out for each other a well. Eden Roc is way more populate now than before and the HOA is doing a great job of removing all the junk cars.
For the past 5 years I have been working towards retirement on the Big Island. I know I don't stand a chance but if I work on that goal I should be able to retire anywhere. I once studied ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi to be part of the culture now I study it to fend off dementia.😅

Right on. I have family that has moved to Kauai and the Big Island both have been living on the islands for over 10 years. I love visiting, but feel so bad for the people of Hawaii. My family works hard and does gives great care for the land. But I will only visit. I can’t morally move to the island. Because I would be taking from the people. Mexico is closer to Oregon and has great weather and a lot cheaper.
Volcano village isn't a subdivision. That's the actual town of volcano. If your looking on a map or zillow the lots next to the town are not in a subdivision. Haunani rd and Wright rd is in the general area of where he was shooting the video. Those lots are a bit more expensive and desirable than the two subdivisions across the Highway from Volcano town.

Hell the cops wouldn't even respond to any calls we made about rip offs would only do a phone report .. the area has its bad rep for a reason .. but fact is all of the B I eastside has gone down hill in the last few yrs just a mer shadow of what it once was ..

I think this is a problem on the whole island and, of course, the entire Puna district. Not just Eden Roc. This is irresponsible to say about 1 subdivision when dog attacks happened all over the island.

It's true, probably better than it used to be. I had a friend have their whole house gutted once while he was out shopping in Hilo but that could happen anywhere, that's certainly true.
You don’t KNOW Eden Roc. Please go up and actually talk to some long time residents. There are great people that have been up there for 30 years. I’ve been up there for 17 years and have great neighbors. Yes, there are issues, but they are the very same issues you find all over the island.
I am a new weary resident because of negative comments like you see here, but came to realize quickly there's no truth to any of it. I spoke to everyone I came across there and everyone has the Aloha spirit. During the recent flooding there, 2 big trucks were helping my son detour and got safely to the other side. That's my experience so far. Loving it so much that I bought 2 more lots.
I know Eden Roc has some good parts, but I also know people who moved there, had all their building supplies stolen and had to leave because they lost it all.
20 yrs ago I dropped out of college on the mainland. I flew to Oahu. I didn't have a job or a place to stay. I didn't know anyone. I spent six months doing labor jobs and realized I couldn't make it in Oahu. I moved to the Puna and just started working labor jobs. One job turned into another and now I turn down work. I'm all word of mouth and I stay busy. Everything I owned could fit in a back pack for the first couple of years that I lived here. I was boarder line homeless. Now I own 3 houses and several pieces of land in Puna and Hilo. On the other hand I have seen many people try to make it over here and just give up. If you come over here you have to be all in.

Incorrect. Volcano is NOT sunnier and cool. The nights are freezing and it is always overcast and raining. If it's after 2PM it's almost guaranteed to be raining. At least the facts about Eden Roc are accurate.
@@HomesteadinHawaii as soon as the sun shows up it rains or remains dark overcast for the rest of the day. This is coming from a Volcano resident. General rule of thumb: if it's cloudy in lower Puna it's nearly 100% raining between Gloomwood and Volcano.

Eden Roc is not that bad. Your stuff can get stolen anywhere on Big Island. I had my stuff stolen on Kona side. There are worse areas on Big Island.

Volcano is NOT sunnier and cool. The nights are freezing and it is always overcast and raining. If it's after 2PM it's almost guaranteed to be raining. At least the facts about Eden Roc are accurate.

General rule of thumb: if it's cloudy in lower Puna it's nearly 100% raining between Gloomwood and Volcano.
