I believe that your "look-alike" is a number 6 doll (version 1). You've kept her in wonderful condition and is EXTREMELY valuable to collectors!

My daughters are your age, one 41 and 42-3 they are 18 months apart. They had the same experience when they opened their childhood dolls for their own children. I think Samantha had the white body and a different dark brown hair color they were that old. There was both joy and sorrow, the sorrow meaning the lost childhood, the joy of reliving it again. Keep the joy, and know through the sorrow we have our most growth spiritually to make us the strong women we need to be. Much love to you and enjoy your dolls!

I just found your channel because I’m a huge doll fanatic and I’m currently reliving my AG era. You are so blessed that your Mom kept everything in pristine condition for you 🥹 She sounds like a very thoughtful women. Especially when you talked about how she got the catalog to order your doll from a neighbor 😭 That’s inspiring. I suggest you get a display cabinet and set all the dolls up along with their accessories inside. Maybe in your living room so guests can enjoy them too. You can even put a framed photo of you and your mom together in there. Then take your nugget to the AG store and let her pick out her own bitty baby or Wellie wisher (a new AG brand). And then when she’s old enough get her an official AG doll of her choice 🙌🏾

I loved watching your video! My daughter is 33 now and just got out her Kirsten doll. She took me to the American Girl store in Dallas for my 71st birthday. I love the American Girl dolls as much as she does! She took her Kirsten doll and I took my Felicity doll. We had never been to the store and it was so much fun! We had lunch in the cafe and looked at all the dolls after lunch! It was the best birthday I have ever had! I am sorry you have lost your mom. That is so hard. I can only say that time will help take away that sting. But it never goes away completely. My mom has been gone more than 10 years and it still hurts. But, I suppose that is a blessing. If it didn’t hurt, then that would mean you weren’t close to her and your dolls are a great reminder of how much she loved you. I am so glad she saved your precious memories. I wish they could have all been happy! I know my daughter can identify with everything you said. Her memories are also both good and bad. I love how you are so honest with yourself and your audience! You are really a special person. I didn’t want your video to end! Good luck with your little girl and make lots of precious memories! Which I know you will! ❤️

I think the black hair doll is a number 6. If that’s the case that doll is one of the most searched for dolls and goes for a lot of money! I suggest you watch a video by the channel „the doll studio by Kris” about that doll. You’re so lucky to have your childhood collection.

I just watched your video, and I was crying right along with you! I did the same thing as you did, but a few years ago after my dad passed. I unboxed all of my old AG dolls. He would often work overtime so he and my mom could afford them, and it was so emotional to look through them all! I just turned 39 this year so same era for the dolls! We have an 11 year old son, but I decided to put some of my dolls on display in my sewing room ❤️ It reminds me of wonderful memories of childhood, and like your mom did for you, my dad did the same. I feel like it’s in honor of him that I display them. And the doll that looks like you with the black hair is the original girl of today #6 as a previous comment had remarked as well❤️ Enjoy them with your daughter! Your mom sounds like she was just a wonderful lady!

Wow what a beautiful collection! And what sweet memories of picking them out with your mom. I think it would be a great idea for you to display your beautiful dolls in your favorite outfits so that you can continue to enjoy them. As other commenters have said, that is crazy cool that you have Girl of Today 6.1 which is known as the rarest AG doll! But it sounds like she is worth more than money can buy to you.❤️ Enjoy them and your daughter’s dolls when she is old enough to pick out her own!☺️

Not that just like you doll actually being worth over $1000 I don’t think you should let your kid play with it because that doll is the rarest doll in all of American girl history. She was produced for two years and nobody bought her so there’s slim to non-chance finding her and that could’ve condition.

Thank you for being so vulnerable and sharing this unboxing! I relate to a lot of what you said and love that you’ve referenced healing your inner child and wanting to honor that. I don’t have any suggestions besides what was already suggest but excited to see what you do with these dolls!!

Thank you for sharing your collection. I saved my daughters dolls and now her daughters play with them and it is great to see them again as you said getting new life. My granddaughters were able to purchase their own dolls to create their own collection. Maybe allow your nugget to play with the bitty baby and save the other dolls for her because they represent some of that relationship with your mom that is beautiful.

You need to display the dolls! Obviously they seem to remind you of your mom. They seem special to you. Display them away from little hands, but as she gets older, you can start sharing them if you want. It’s ok to have dolls out as an adult! You have a beautiful collection that definitely needs to be seen. ❤
I do recommend you let your daughter pick out her own doll(s) someday. The AG stores are a treat! Bring one of your dolls when you go so you can have tea with her. They have little seats for dolls in the AG cafe! It’s a whole experience.

    • @MoreSereinWu
      @MoreSereinWu  10 місяців тому +1

I definitely want to give her the whole AG experience with tea and letting her pick a new doll out. Mainly so I can have it too :-p I don't really have the space to display them right now, so I'll probably take them to storage until we have more space.

they make display cases - the container store has everything you could think of, and thats what I'd recommend. You can keep them safe and display them at the same time. When nugget is older you can share this part of yourself with her. I know it was so emotional for you, and I know you said on IG you were debating posting. Just know we appreciate you, your honesty, and sharing of the processing. ❤❤❤❤❤

Thank you for watching and for the suggestions. I really want to display them when we have the space, but right now we don't. I think I'll definitely pass them on to her when she's old enough to understand what they mean to me, but also give her own experience in choosing out a new one.

I believe that the third doll you took out from the suitcase is Kirsten, not Felicity (as I know, Felicity has not the blonde braids); anyway you have a true little treasure, which deserves to be kept with a lot of cares, placed in a display cabinet and shown with proudness to your friends; and one day, left as inheirtance to your daughter when she will be grown. I speak as an european adult collector of these dolls, who truly loves these little angels 🥰

I remember I chose Josefina due to my biological father learning Spanish at the time after my parents divorce. My father passed away 10 years ago this upcoming October and Josefina is such a comfort doll on those days I am struggling mentally. The best feeling is having a Friday night pj night with the dolls after a long week of work with disney movies. I highly recommend trying it out!

Id say organize them and get your daughter her own Samantha and bitty baby. I'm a collector and I love my childhood dolls. Their in storage. I still buy the newer historical and girl of the year doll's my little nieces are still loving their bitty baby right now so when their a little bit older they'll get their own AG dolls right now their 3 and 1.

  • @tinmanlover1994

I still put random outfits into different AG boxes. I'm the same way with my dolls I always take good care of everything.

  • @lindaf382

If you have the space, you could put up long shelves that are out of your daughter's reach, yet she can still see and appreciate their beauty. Soon you will be able to start reading the AG historical books to her(I suggest finding the 6 original per doll with pictures)At that time, you can bring down the door and accessories for her to start playing with and maybe try to add to the collection from eBay. It might become a nice mom and daughter thing to do. Your dolls are very pretty. You have a very nice collection now and hopefully more to come in the future.

Not that money matters more over emotion, but those dolls do hold a lot of value in both senses. Appreciate them however you can. Displaying them is probably the easiest way to go about that. Fond memories can always be recalled upon when you’re constantly seeing them. And if your child shows interest definitely try to take her to get her own so that she can play with it! These dolls clearly mean a lot to you. It’s okay to have something for yourself!

Oh those 2 stuffed animals were part of the American Girl dolls, one is Coconut and I am not sure of the other's name. My daughters purchased their own dolls for the girls and the other dolls from their mom were for "show" and gentle play when they were ready. But all my GD's had their own things and store experiences. They really liked their own dolls and doll accessories including furniture best. Hence they have their own memories just like mom had. Just thought to share.

I say you restart your collection set them up for display to look at... Over time your daughter will get into it more and more You can give her the bitty baby... And then slowly you and her can go through the catalogs and get stuff for her collection to start. And that will give you good memories that are similar to the ones that are happy with you and your mom with you and your daughter and then slowly someday your collection can be fully passed on to her to go with her collection for her kid someday.

  • @AmericanBoyCollectAmericanGirl

One more comment...in regards to your dolls...Kirsten was retired, and hasn't hasn't been made for over a decade. Plus, as others have stated, your "mini me" is one of the rarest Girl of Today dolls, only out for a year or two, before they redesigned her to have blond hair and (I think) green eyes. This doll is number 6, and I'm actually excited I got to see what one actually looks like. 😊
While Samantha was brought back out of retirement, they have made tweaks to several of the original face molds. Also your dolls are original Pleasant Company dolls before Matel bought the company from the original owner. Most, if not pretty much all of your collection is no longer being made anymore. Oh, and Samantha's bathing costume was a limited edition outfit for 1997, only available for one year...or a little longer till it sold out.

My suggestion would be...since you and your Mom kept your collection in such good condition, would be to display your dolls somewhere where your kiddo wouldn't be able to reach them. You could periodically change the outfits too. I'm assuming from the picture at the end of the video that your child is very young...around the Bitty Baby age range for dolls...(sorry, this is the 1st video I've seen on your channel...I only found it because of the AG dolls. My mom and I collected when I was a teen in the 90s, well into the 2000s, and then stopped for like over a decade. I just got back to collecting last year. So I'm now an adult male doll collector.) ...you might want to try getting her one of the cheaper dolls that Walmart or Target sell (not AG) for starters, and then over time as you change your childhood doll display teach her how to "respect" the dolls ...how to properly handle and care for them, while carefully playing with them..(but not necessarily to the extent you did, with being afraid to play with them) and then when she gets a little older, buy her her own, after you see how she handles the cheaper ones. (for an example of what I mean by "respecting the dolls" at my church, I dont like to discourage the children from playing on the piano, but if they start banging on the keys, they're going to have their hands gently pulled away from the keys, and the cover is going to go down, and they're going to have to find something else to do. What I'm trying to teach them here, is how to respect the instrument...it's to make beautiful music on and not destructive noise. Also banging is the easiest way for a piano to go out of tune.) Sorry that was such a long response to your video, and this was just my thoughts and suggestions. 😊

Oh and before I forget there is American girl doll collectors out there such as myself I own 18 American girl lol I’ve been collecting since I was seven I want to say and I also have to customize my own American girl dolls and there’s plenty videos on how to properly store them and how to properly clean them because they probably need a good Mr. clean Magic eraser if I’m being honest you’re probably gonna have to get that from like maybe Amazon Walmart target Mr. clean Magic eraser that’s what it’s called if you don’t know what it’s called you just take some water put it on the Mr. clean Magic eraser and you wanna be gentle I just swipe it onto their legs arms and face but be careful with their eyes because their eyes will rust if it touches water and your dogs will get silver eyes water gets into them unless you’re trying to ice swap which that’s a whole different topic there’s tons of more videos on UA-cam that will probably help you if you need more help on how to restore and make your dolls look like brand new because I take excellent care of my dolls since I have fixed up like I want to say six dolls maybe and I also have customized two of my fixing up dolls

I recently got into American Girl, if you still don't know what to do with the dolls here is what I would do - as people have mentioned one of yours is very rare. I would sell that one and use the money to either go in savings for the little one or go on a family trip. The rest are pretty easy to find so I would save them until my little one is a bit older then after the family trip to the AG store I would give them to her so she can enjoy them!

  • @Live_life_wild

One more thing to answer your question your American girl today pleasant company American girl dolls you can either say them you can either sell them and make some money out of them or you can give them to your kid but I don’t think you want to do that just yet but also they don’t make pleasant company stuff anymore because Mattel bought poison company and change it to American girl so you might wanna hold onto that stuff because it is worth good money
