Hey Gigs! I made a copy of the board that we sponsored you with for the World Cup way back when. Stocks and Stocks 1990's? Then that got run over and Lonny Doone(sp?) made me another copy. When that wore out I had another made by Matt a2 years ago (with a few minor mods). Still have it. Perfect for Strand.

Two old now but back in the day - I was interested in a fish tail kneeboard but never bought one. I didn't see any in his rack. Anyone ridden one? What were they like?

Had two fish in the 70s.
      A 4'11" for most days
A 5'6" for bigger waves. (Blacks Beach, La Jolla cove, etc
      Loved them

Mate, what about the fin placements? How far up from the tail?

Wear your flippers champs, that's what they are for. If anything a bit more confidence to paddle a bit more deeper inside than your mates are happy with.

How many? And do you still ride them all? Or just collect memories?

@@kneeboardtorque5971 I'm not telling you how many but yes they all have their place. Some haven't been ridden for a while but generally I'll know what boards will likely suit the conditions, take 2 of them ie one for best case scenario and one for worst case whether that's bigger or smaller than expected then choose which one when I get there.

@@daveallen4752 The ‘modern’ surfer/kneelo should travel with 2 boards. Conditions change.
In ’93 I was the wave scout for the ‘Kneelo Worlds’ in Durban, South Africa. After 3 days of fun 3ft beach breaks the swell dropped away for the final day. I drove 30kms south to Cave Rock - which picks up more swell. I phoned back (on a land line to the pie and chips shop on Durban’s North Beach).
“It’s 2-3ft Cave Rock. Looks good,” was my message, “Come through.”
The whole contingent moved south. TV crew, judging tower, PAs, competitors, etc.
This was Cave Rock, a notorious reef break, remember. By the time everyone arrived it was climbing. Now at 4-5ft. A new swell.
I thought everyone knew what they were into. Many international (read Auzzie) finalists arrived only with their small wave boards. They then pointed at the waves and yelled at me . . . and then they arranged for their ‘tube riders’ and step up’s to be hurried through.
At times the waves were ‘said’ to be 8ft on that final day. That’s 8ft Cave Rock! A challenge.
So travel with 2 boards. Or 3.

Great little video. Next time, lose the background music.

Would be nice to hear what he is saying, the stupid music makes it impossible.
