    Hi Dave, The rug you found is a persian one and if it is hand crafted and made of wool, it is valuable. In iran we call it "Nagshe Mahi" which means "fish pattern". And if it has some silks in it , it would value very more. Almost these type of rugs are made in "Tabriz" (Capital city of east Azerbayjan) and are very expensive, Specially the Silk ones.

    • @WeezyWeez1984
      @WeezyWeez1984 4 роки тому +4

      I looked it up and found a similar one called Persian Tabriz Fish Design Handmade Area Rug and that particular one is very expensive, I believe you are correct.

      They are either wool or silk. I only have silk ones as much warmer and flatter (no stumbling), and they are cut way shorter. No problems to vacuum clean nor the dogs chew on them. I wash them spread outside with a hose if there is a large stain on them.

    The rug looks exceptionally nice ....difficult to tell what it’s made of. Wool is used more with hand made types. Not sure what the weather is like there now....but if not too humid ....the best way to clean a rug is to put a mild soap on it ....hose it down ...rinse well , then allow it to dry draped over a strong fence or two pallets in an A frame. ( I always put it on the frame and then got it wet as they are a beast to move when wet.
    Nice find .

    Nice finds but you really should put things back the way you find them before you leave. Those boxes of books were all closed up and properly covered when you got there. You opened the boxes and then just through the plastic back over. Disrespectful toward that homeowner after they went out of their way to box them up. Just sayin.. remember the golden rule of junkin. Leave it better than you found it xoxo

    I miss big trash day, used to be every other Thursday in my neighborhood….but now our town requests that people take their unwanted “big” stuff to the dump. I do get lucky occasionally though, my most recent find was last week, I was driving on a back country road and someone had put a lot of stuff at their curb, I found 2 antique wood folding chairs in excellent condition, a box of McCoy pottery, and a very nice lamp. Some of my best stuff has been free, I had a boyfriend who renovated old houses at the shore, and people were always telling him they planned on refurnishing too, and to take what he wanted. Almost every day he’d come home with stuff in the back of his pickup - lots of it mid century.

    To clean what appears to be a great rug: Place thick plastic on driveway; then hose rug down with water. Use Dawn and scrub with a NATURAL brush (not plastic). Be gentle as there may be silk in the piece. Hose down again and let dry. Flip it over and use big fan if possible. If you’re in a warm climate, all the better.
