- Andrew Bird at the Guggenheim in New York. August 5, 2010.
The only thing between Andrew Bird and me was a mic stand...
(I do not own the copyrights in any way for the song/music. All music belongs to Mr. Bird, I am just an appreciative and adoring fan)
Bless you!!! I banged my knee on the table when I saw the shot of his pedals. Muchos Gracias! Via Con Dios!
This was an amazing show! Thank you for getting even this one song, it lets me relive the night so easily. I was about 5 people behind you and to your right it seems. This is just great!
He uses the looping function on the Line6 DL4 Delay modeler
source: I've seen it at his shows and own the pedal.
@SadCephalopod I'm sorry, but I forgot the song name. I believe it was the third song he played (maybe the fourth?). Thanks for watching, and super duper thanks to Andrew!!
Thanks for posting--great video. We were there too but farther away, so it was great to see this gorgeous up-close footage! The song is amazing too.
That loop ends up making its way into Orpheo Looks Back. Great video!
thank you for posting this, is beautiful, lucky you :) ♥
thank you! for all of it. the best to you in life.
Yeah, the DL4 Delay Modeler only provides 12 seconds of loop time, which makes it all the more amazing what Mr. Bird can do with it.
As far as a dedicated looping pedal I highly recommend the Boss RC20-XL. You can record 11 separate loops, up to 16 minutes in total loop time, tap tempo function, you can edit them via computer interface, record MP3's onto the unit for jam-along practice. I haven't used the updated pedal ( the RC30) but if it's anything like the RC20 it'll be a solid.
Thank you for posting this video. Very well down and nice framing. The sound is wonderful and is definitely the best Andrew Bird video I have come across. I saw him preform with St. Vincent this past Winter at a not so great venue, so this is refreshing. I can imagine the clarity and vibrance of the sound live.
So much love for Andrew right now.
Hey buddy, first of all, I didn't have my "fucking phone in his face." I was using a Canon 7D, with a zoom lens, so me having a "phone directly in his face" was not the case. Second of all, there was a gathering of press people in the front row for the first part of the show, filming, photographing, & using a flash (something, imo, that is much more obnoxious). I happened to have my camera on me, so I captured this moment at the show. Kept it low key, only filmed one song, took a few pictures.
Allyson Ferrara it was fantastic. Captured the spontaneity bythe spontaneity of his looping and neurotic multiinstrumentalism. Thank You🙏🏻 he seemed to do just fine. I dont think the Artist wouldseethis footage and be dissapointed or perturbed in the least.
i'm hoping he does this around the country, just a thought! thank you for this upload.
Thumbs up for the suit!
Thanks for uploading this. :)
Fantastic song and great video
THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH FOR GETTING THIS!!! Did you get anymore videos?
@skatekid25:I saw a Boss TU-2, I think, and he may have a compressor/sustainer pedal for his violin. I'll try to find out some more.
Loooooooove!!!!!♥♥
I cant breathe... my ears just had an orgasm... Thank you for this video... im torn between picking up my Viola and putting it away forever.... Wow... like wow
Genius or madness? Or simply impassioned....
Thanks. My X3 Live gives me all the delay I need. I am looking more into a dedicated looper. Byrd is amazing in how he uses them to layer.
@liam665 No problem ;) It was an absolutely AMAZING show. I was lucky enough to be up front and able to shoot the video (and blend in with the press and fool the Guggenheim folks for a bit ;P ) Thanks for watching.
This is the best Andrew Bird video I have ever seen!!! Did he give the song a name? I love you for getting this.
I like his socks.
this is great quality, is this the only song you got? the show was amazing.
@SadCephalopod Oh, Thank you. Thank Andrew!! I did not get anymore video :( I think the Guggenheim assumed I was press because I was standing next to the press people... but once they realized I wasn't, they told me I had to stop. I did get a couple of picture though. If I decide to post them I will certainly let you know ;)
@groovedelic
my knees were touching the stage ;)
Does anyone know what kind of loopers he was using? Looks like a Line 6 setup.
is there any way you could upload an mp3 of this video at a bitrate of 320kbps or higher? I would love to listen to this any time and relive the show, the audio quality is great.
what song is this?
lol well said
Yes ! Birth of "Orpheo"...

I think we can see you in this video. amazing stuff! love his passion for music.
Seeing a man lose himself in music is biggest turn on.
Whats in a name ? Poor bastards last name is bird so he can't stop whistling. So this is MF I can thank for all the odd people whistling in Home Depot .
Nice video! If ya get a minute you should check out one of ours! Hope you like it!
i wonder if he was bummed that you were directly in his face with your cell phone? its nice to see clips of your favorite bands on youtube... but seems kinda disrespectful..if i was at the show & "between him and his mic stand"..i dont think id have my fucking phone in his face when he looked down at me. even for the fans, i was at a punch brothers show early march and there was literally 5 people with there hands raised selfishly in my face (wherever i moved to) trying 2 film it the whole time,
