I’m so so sorry. My Dad was a battalion chief Los Angeles County, Ca. He lived The Fire-department. He retired in 91. He was so grateful that the LACounty FD sent firefighters to assist in NYC. HUGE HUGS.
My dad died of pancreatic cancer too, and it’s fast-moving anyway, but I’ve heard the cancers associated with ground zero are particularly fast- moving. This story hit me very hard. I’m so sorry you lost your dad, and so fast.
So sorry for the loss of your dad. He was a hero in what he did. And by the way I was born at St John's hospital in Yonkers New York so watching that day unfold was absolutely horrific. Prayers for all those people who didn't make it out and who are still dying from 911. Never forget.💔🙏🇺🇸
I have been watching the video in September 2023 and just wanted to say that it touched me. Your father was a good man ❤ and so are you. Wishing you peace and comfort.
I am so sorry for your loss. Your father was certainly a wonderful man. Please cherish your memories of him. I live in the U.K. I remember that awful day like it was yesterday. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. Well done Shelli for getting these stories out there. 20 years on and still the suffering continues. God bless everyone. 🕯🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️
You are so lucky to have had such a wonderful relationship with your father. I know your loss was tragic, but it was a very special relationship. ♥ Bless you, I did shed a few tears listening to this.
Jim I feel for you, I watched my dad suffer similarly from military related cancer. I picked him up off the floor so many times because he couldn't walk but insisted on trying. I told my dad straight up he had incurable cancer, its a tough road to walk because there is no "best way" to handle it. Thank you for sharing your story, may your father RIP. 💔
I'm Glad You Survived 9/11, & Thank You For Your Service! And God🙏Bless Your Dad - He Sounds Really Special! His Love Of Kids & Of Your Profession Is Very Touching! I Am So Sorry For Your Loss - I Watched My Mother Die Of Cancer - I Was Only 35🙏
Thank god he didnt go to that toxic dump as those buildings became.people like him and his family are the real fathers of compassion and empathy, everybody learns and is encouraged that men like this exist. Too many psychopaths and narcissists with none of the above, make life unbearable, but one good man speaking of a real family is such an encouragement.
I was a teen living in Yonkers watching the smoke from a buildings roof till night and went down to ground zero few weeks later. There were still missing ppls flyers everywhere
😢😢😢i cried with him. God bless, youre not alone, people do care. This is the most heartbreaking case ever. Im so glad he had the ceremony he deserved.❤❤❤ ❤❤❤
This one really got me, his father seemed like an amazing person... It sounded like he embodied the “greatest generation“ type ideal of American men- community leaders, workers and fathers.
Hi. Really enjoying your series based on 9/11 stories. Especially now as the 20th anniversary swiftly approaches. If you would ever like to interview someone who has their story to tell about the events of 9/11 from the perspective of someone living in the UK at the time I would be more than happy to oblige and talk direct to you about this and see if you would like to add that perspective to this channel series. Kind Regards, Chris.
I’m so glad Jon Stewart went before Congress on behalf of all 9/11 related medical issues- hard to believe he had to call out the GOP for voting against all you hero’s. Glad he exposed them and with that, they voted for the real patriots, all of you! Thank you and many condolences to you and your family- and thank you for having courage and compassion- volunteers are unspoken hero’s that make a huge difference in so many daily struggles of fellow man. I’m so grateful and thankful for people like you and your father- we owe you and so many any and all medical health benefits available.
There was a team of 18 Firefighters in Detroit that headed out that night to see where they could help out. They ended up on the pile for weeks, and on their off time attending funerals. They went there voluntarily. Would they be covered?
It was a Chernobyl like disaster with asbestos, crushed glass, human remains de Composing, all that without breathing equipment or suits. The Public health dept Should be held accountable for such an obvious cancer risk from dust like that.
Jim, thank you for re-living the painful parts but god bless you on the Happy descriptions of your fathers days! Him being a crossing guard 4 the kids brought me back to ME being a crossing guard at elementary school b 4 my paper route on the same street! How wonderful your description of your father! Its like I met him! Hes with us brother... Hes with us!! My heart and soul is touched! My mom passed from brain cancer. So I understand in a small personal way. God bless! Your one of my "NEW!" heros! Kenny! And your dads one As well!! 😥😞😊 🎶🏋🏋🏋
By the sound of it, nobody expected him to be in so much pain, and I suppose he was prescribed what they felt was the correct strength of pain medicines at that appointment. There is a whole scale of pain meds before anyone gets morphine.

Jim, the brotherhood among firefighters that you describe and exemplify is incredible. Am so sorry for the loss of your Dad, who was an amazing man.
That man led a life of service. He sits at the right hand of God.

Yes, of course, by what Shelli said.

Something is something here. I don’t know. Just something.
He should not have advised him to go home.
💙
So morphine didn't work for this hero??

Morphine isn’t even that powerful really
Amazing story! Thanks for sharing!
