Somehow I forgot this You Tube presentation and struggled for a few years without this functionality. Now, hopefully permanently bookmarked this TeachExcel channel
thank you for this! this, by far, is the only one working and the simplest one. I have been searching for a date picker for almost three hours and the only ones I have found are those that require coding in excel vba. thank you so much for this! it is indeed a life-saver, great job!
I have Excel 2010 and put the .xlam file in XLSTART. The DatePicker worked without further setup after restarting Excel and after a PC restart; so that configuration looks reliable. Certainly the DatePicker is very good, and makes entering dates really easy. Thanks to TeachExcel for a great recommendation. Also thanks for a really well modulated course delivery and an ideal tone and speed for me.
Exactly what I was looking for to build a budgeting and money tracker sheet. I agree... why is this not already a part of excel? Very useful. Thanks again. :)
This is BRILLIANT! I've tried the built-in several times and got very frustrated when I couldn't make it work. This tool no time to install and works great. If you type "Date" in a cell with no formatting and click on the cell below it, it shows up. Gamechanger
Thank you so much for sharing this Macro! It worked perfectly and saved me a lot of time and effort. I really appreciate your hard work and dedication to helping others. Keep up the great work!
Outstanding! Your instructions are clear and easy to follow. I love this app! (My co-workers think our IT department is dense, but I'm a goddess for adding it to our spreadsheets LOL!)
I don't know why this worked like this but when I unzipped the file and Excel was already open the Excel program automatically asked me if I would like to use the add-in and I clicked yes and it's been work for the last 30 minutes, lol. I have opened several other Excel files and I shut Excel down completely and then re-opened and the date picker is working excellent. Thank you
Very informative with clear concise instructions. What should I do if I want to share the formatted template with someone who has not installed a date picker on their PC?
I am very glad to hear this! I have many tutorials that are not too tough that you might want to take a peak at, I call them Excel Quickies and you might find them helpful :) ua-cam.com/play/PLxhsXZXQXrUBRG1QskvchMBezTR9ZTWaj.html
I have 2 questions, 1. Is it possible to make the datepicker show up ONLY in the field to the right of cell where you want the date to appear? 2. Do I need to install datepicker on every system in order for it to show up? IE, I am doing some independent contract work and have the Datepicker addon installed on my system. Would the client need to have it installed on their system in order for it to show up?
You should be able to send the add-in file itself to anyone you want but they will then need to follow the installation instructions to get it to work - don't forget to "unblock" the file in Windows so you can use it after the first time it is installed.
As i think first your friend must download the add in file and then the instalation on the excel program following the Teach excel instructions of course.

Wasted a whole day trying to figure out that "c:\windows\syswow64\mscomct2.ocx" crap that doesnt even work on all excel. This add-in is a gem! literally only took me 1 minute to add it in my excel. Thanks! If I send my excel file with the date picker to a another computer, will the add-in still work?

I think perhaps you're a bit paranoid, I definitely see your point of view, but definitely paranoid I think, the add in is from a person that works at excel..........
@@redangrybird7564 Yea I mean, that's never happened to me. And again, the guy works for excel. Since that's the case, fool is a harsh and unrealistic word to use. I'm just saying your efforts would be better spent in other areas, than worrying about a virus to hurt your computer that you think a guy from Excel made to hurt your computer lol. It's a joke. If a guy who works at excel, who is owned by Microsoft is creating malicious viruses to harm others computers, than I guess we are all infected right? I mean what are you wasting your time on this for.... Lol, good luck to you.
I made my own "Date Picker" as a form to use within other forms, etc. Add-ins arent a good way to go about trying to solve things when you're in a company environment that you may not have permissions to go about installing things as an end-user on the network.
Nice! Thanks for this tip. The built-in ActiveX Microsoft Date and Time Picker control is definitely quirky. This is a good alternative. Too bad MS does not copy it for the internal functionality. Thanks for sharing it and the tips to set it up. Thumbs up!
Hi Kevin. Thank you very much for your valuable lesson. I have an Excel data entry form with 68 fields. Users have saved the data entry forms. Is there any way that I can extract the data from those excel user data entry forms? Thank you very much again for your time & help
hey A great application, thank you. How can I adjust the calendar for the European time and date, namely: 1. How do I get the file xlam. 2. first day instead of Sunday Monday 3. format of the current day Thanks in advance

You ROCK! I watched 6 videos before I found your very EASY and CONVENIENT way to insert a date picker! THANK YOU
Me, again, I've just installed it. It has solved the most irritating issue that i have had with spreed sheets. I've sat back and laughed. Thank you
This is exactly what I was looking for. This is the most helpful and easiest instruction to add a date picker. Thank you SO much!
As you predicted, I ran into the problem. I am glad you were thoughtful enough to include the fix in your vid!
You are the most awesome!!!! I have been looking for the most simple date picker in Excel and thanks so much I found you!! You are my saviour!!!

How is a date picker not part of excel core function????? This is so basic, I can't believe we have to go through hacks to implement this.
I agree with your comment 10000000%!!!
Thank you, you are like the Bob Ross of excel, so soothing
bahaha that's the first time I heard that and I love it :D

This was a great help after other attempt failed Thanks!
Thank you so much, great help. I 've been trying this since yesterday with no luck.

Wow, I wish my Excel worked so well hahah
This was helpful! How would I insert the date picker as a blank cell for creating a fillable form? it doesn't stay if I don't choose a date.
I have the same question
I also have this question. I'd like the date picker to be a drop box
If you make the blank cells formatted as a date it will automatically activate the date picker when you click inside that cell. :)
Good video! It's also important to note that this is a macro as well, so it cannot be undone if used.
Every thing is clear like pure water ................Thanks
hahaha I love this description!!!
Awesome!! Just installed...thank you!
This is the only addin that I still use - glad you go it too!
I'm a Landlord, this add-on is what I have needed for years in my spreed sheet, Thanks.

Thaaaaaaank You.....Very easily explained. I also used to "not like inputting dates"
Works perfectly. Thanks.🎉
