Your trash story reminded me....when my son was around 2, he was "helping" me to clear the table after lunch. He took some silverware from the table, walked to the trash, and tossed it in, turned around and gave me a big smile. He had seen me throw away the paper napkins and paper towels, so he was doing the same thing. I just happened to be there to see him, otherwise I would have wondered where the forks disappeared too. LOL
I love staying organized! I'm moving into the new place here. Not a mom, but excited so thanks for making this video! I love cleaning! Helps for energy long term!❤
PS: My grandma took me where the 3 stooges was filmed! You guys are so precious! My mom taught me those tips too! I'm making my tips kid friendly for encouraging my nephews. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!❤🎉 IM PROUD OF Y'ALL!🎉❤
I'm thankful that your tips were instilled in us when we were kids. It meant it was automatic to instill similar practices in our own family with our kids. Our home was never perfect & it was a challenge to keep it tidy with 3 kids under 5, but overall those strategies kept me/us sane! 🥰Blessings from South Australia💕🐨
Love how Aunty Jill doesn’t mince her words, we need more people speaking this truth about sacrificing our time in the service of our families. Society looks down on stay at home mums focusing on their husbands and kids when this is such an important role….if every woman was focused on this how much of the world’s problems would disappear all the child neglect/abuse, crimes, etc.
I always had my daughter clean her room if she wanted to go somewhere or if she wanted a friend to stay over,,now she does that with her own daughter ☺
I needed to hear this! So many women my age run from here to there, and over volunteer, and their homes are a wreck. I can’t function when my house is out of order. Thank you for validating my feelings that it’s important to keep the house running smoothly. Thank you for validating the importance of not letting dishes and laundry pile up and running through drive through night after night. Such great wisdom
I think part of the reason kids are so messy these days is because the world is. My grandmother who adopted me was so clean & I never had to be told to put anything away... I just did it & made my bed. I didn’t have a cell phone or much else to take my mind off cleaning up. My kids were so different!! My daughter is now a super cleaner... but her childhood was such a mess!! I always told her to clean as she goes... & my son was the same. Good points on making it easier for them.
Over 50 years ago, at school, in domestic science, we were taught to have a jug of hot water to put dirty utensils in. They can then be reused and reduce the washing up
those xmas time popcorn tins. make great garbage cans. my kids picked out their fav scene and after the popcorn was eaten. i wuld out a small bag in the can and used for trash for each room the living room had 2 of those cans in there bc. that was also the family room and we wuld change the bag in the can daily.
I have always matched the socks as soon as they come out of the dryer. I see so many people now just dump them all in a basket for everyone to search for their socks which takes more time.
Hi! having fun reorganizing, yep, since you mentioned this before, I like the pick up as you go buy, been doing that, and it's getting easier, i found I was potassium deficient due to my heart/water pill medicine, now i'm feeling stronger with better minerals in my diet!.
I have two baskets for laundry in my bedroom. One is for the dirty clothes. I have another for the "used" clothes that don't need washing yet like a hoodie I might wear for a few days in a row. That way I have a place for that stuff and it doesn't end up on the floor or draped over furniture.
This is a great video. I do not think I had seen this one before. I am a reasonably organized person but this is making me look at wasted time anew. Jill really got my attention when she said how she intentionally uses the time while the microwave is on.
I love these videos! Tawra, I can see Dave and Jack in you. They look so much like you and Jill. Then I see pictures of Mike and think they look just like Mike! I love the organizing videos. I just went through my freezer as I have neglected it for the past month or so. I have enough meals from frozen leftovers and "bits and bobs" to last a week. Organizing is a good thing in many ways. Thank you both! I use your planner to put my recipes in. I menu plan and if I'm using a recipe I will read the cookbook and pg #. Then if it is a printed recipe that will go into the planner. If I make a new recipe, I write it down in the planner notes.
I picked up constantly! Three children in five years! I have even gone to bed after a family party and after a couple of hours of sleep got up and cleaned. I put piles neatly in front of the kids doors. I went back to bed and slept soundly!
When things are cooking (stove top, oven, microwave, and all but the slow-cooker) i am always choring whether it be dishes, food prep, or setting the table.
I so relate to the trash sack next to the sewing machine, I can remember having my home ec teacher showing us how to fold the top of a lunch bag down before taping it down. And then telling us that it was a good idea to have one on the ironing board too (IF you didnt fold that up right after ironing.) The one thing I took away from that was it was a good thing to have the sewing machine and ironing board in the laundry room. All of this happened 50 years ago and today my laundry room is a closet. LOL
Pinpointing and implementing the first step is the hardest part for me. I realize I'm overwhelmed and ready to overcome it but when there is so much to do, I feel physically stuck until I find and do that 1st step. After that, it seems to go easier to think of the next steps and implement them without feeling stuck in sitting and ruminating over it. Sometimes have to plan the first few baby steps to get going even if that's "Ok. Breathe. Get up. Cross the room. Pick up thing on floor...etc". Sometimes you just have to meet yourself where you're at.
Each night before I go to bed, I pick up our living room…..every morning upon rising, I make my bed and pickup our bedroom….after meals, I load the dish washer and wipe down the stove and counter tops. These are simple steps and only take a couple minutes to accomplish.
I used to hate it when I was younger because I was the oldest I had to do everything. I cooked, cleaned and babysat my younger siblings and they really didn’t do anything.
We had to pick up our room and have our school stuff by the door before bed. Or dad would find it when he flipped the lights in the morning. ( then you were in trouble. Like having dad stand over you while you got ready. ) And you had to beat dad to the table and finish eating before he left for work. All 3 of us had to eat or. Dad wouldn't leave for work. Dad was never late for work because of us.
Picking up & removing those obstacles gives Yourself a boost, it lightens Your load. Try using Dawn & Hot water to remove a stain. Scrub carpet hard & form those bubbles, let set, then take soap up with hot water & a clean sponge.
We live in a 1200 Sq foot home.Thursday we will have 3 grandkids for a week..They share a room..it will be something..just shoes, coats boots and backpacks alone with no area designated is an issue..than clothes for a week..we will manage..space is an issue. Its just a week..we will manage.
I never allowed kids to pull out all of the toys. 2 sets of items (cars and the tracks). At 5 before dad gets home everyones cleans their items in the livingroom.
My beautician (in her 30's) said that people age 80 or over are demanding when it comes to phones. They expect you to pick up that phone when you hear it ring, and if you DON'T, they will call over and over until you pick up. My dad was the same way. It took a long time to break him. 99 percent of the time it is trivial things like asking for an address. He won't learn how to text, either. Anyway, the beautician was in the middle of washing my hair, and had to balance the phone and wash my hair while answering the call from a little old bitty who would just blow up her phone with hundreds of calls. I hope they pass a law against that unless someone is dead, dying or bleeding. BTW, I will be 60 this year. That is ENTITLEMENT!
Mostly, if you take it out, put it back. Same with kids. If you get them used to putting away after their done with it, they'll at least put their stuff away.
I disagree with the laundry. We have enough outfits for 2 weeks. I would rather to do laundry half of the day every 2 weeks, because you are having to go back and forth too much to sort, hang, dry and put up. I dedicate a day every 2 weeks. I would not want to wake up every day if I had to do laundry every day, plus, I have to accumulate enough to sort it by colorful, jeans, darks, and whites.
Maybe some people do the soccer, swimming, etc. So they can have an excuse not to clean. They don't want to do it. My sister was constantly on the road taking her kids to activities, and one day I came to her house and the dirty dishes in the sink had flies and maggots! And a big stack of paper plates on the table.
i used those little clothes basket for hampers. each person had their own special basket. same with their towels. too. even my kids had their own special sheet sets. hubby and i used what i decided bc. he really didnt care.
when i was 2 i used to help grandma do laundry. she taught me how to separate clothes. put the clothes in the washer. and bc we had a wringer washer. i ised to help her with this too. folding. too.
kids as young as 1-2. is never too young to do things around the house. no one got a free ride when it came to keeping the house clean no matter how young u were
Your trash story reminded me....when my son was around 2, he was "helping" me to clear the table after lunch. As a childcare provider, we have lost spoons and forks to the trash. LOL! At least the kiddo did his job.
Trash one I'm working on yet. But just moving in, so It's kinda last thing I do end of the night honestly.
I love staying organized! I'm moving into the new place here. Not a mom, but excited so thanks for making this video! I love cleaning! Helps for energy long term!❤

and picking up is part of playing 😊!!
Thanks having a bad day today. Needed reminding
I miss the beautiful green display wall at your old house 🤩
You really have a lovely family. Nice photo!
New hairstyle looks cute and young!
I truly love Tawra, her mom & Mike and all their family!! You guys are awesome!! Many blessings from Kentucky 🙌🏻🦋🤗

I always unload my dishwasher as I’m waiting for my coffee to brew. Then it’s free to reload as the day goes.
Good idea! 👍
Oh me too! It's something about racing against the clock and it totally works!
I always had my daughter clean her room if she wanted to go somewhere or if she wanted a friend to stay over,,now she does that with her own daughter ☺
That color looks so good on Jill
Thanks for the tips. Tawra, your hair looks very nice. 👍
Thank you! 🤗
i organize/straighten up while listening to your organizing videos!

Everything has a home!
I am making sure before bedtime there are no dishes in the sink and pick up having a clean sink with no dishes it feels amazing.
Well done.
Me too! But sometimes I have to have a little nap between dinner and dishes.😬
@@mpep1356 You’re entitled to a nap if you need it, imo. At least you get it done before bedtime and some of us don’t

I love my little trash cans in each room!

You must be older than me we called it cooking class.
Yes. You all are telling the absolute truth. Thank you for this video.
Thank you for playing this video again. It is serving as a reminder.

Yes, that is a good one. I will put my meal in the microwave and have dishes in the sink. Why not do those dishes, or whatever.
I'm organizing my bedroom clothes closet as I am watching this!
I love these videos! Tawra, I can see Dave and Jack in you. They look so much like you and Jill. Then I see pictures of Mike and think they look just like Mike! I love the organizing videos. Love your hair color Tawra!!
I think this is an older video that is being replayed. Still, it’s ALWAYS-good tips that are timeless.
Absolutely 💯
The background wall matches videos from 5+ years ago. Information still applies tho.
I had a snow day and l cleaned and fixed the kitchen in 5 minute breaks.
Working nights sucks the energy out of me and hard sleeping days. I have tried to do the 5 min pick up, etc. I'm trying.
Long time night shift worker here, too! Simple tasks performed during the day seemed twice as hard as they really were.
Put a hamper in the tub or shower snd then, of course , take it out when using the shower . Works great.

I look at my mess this way…It didn’t become this way over night- I can’t get it cleaned up over night. I take it in small doses and it gets done.
I keep my hamper in the bathroom where we change all the time.and in the apt i have now hamper is only 10 feet from the washer.
Each night before I go to bed, I pick up our living room…..every morning upon rising, I make my bed and pickup our bedroom….after meals, I load the dish washer and wipe down the stove and counter tops. These are simple steps and only take a couple minutes to accomplish.
You are looking so pretty and young in this video! Love seeing you guys. HELLO from Germany
Oh my, this is something I struggle with! I’m working on it though.
I used to hate it when I was younger because I was the oldest I had to do everything. I cooked, cleaned and babysat my younger siblings and they really didn’t do anything.
I have fibermialga, nerapthy, and cronic pain, but i still do it at 71 years old it can be done

Dad was never late for work because of us.
For a number of things I've simply created drop and go containers and homes.
This is great
Thank you
We had a ten second tidy lol
Tara your hair color looks great!! Jill I love you!!!
Sorry.. Makes such a big difference...😊
Before 🛏, I've been trying to make sure all of my 🥣🍽🥤are done! Thanks for the tips.
Great advice! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Both of you ladies look very nice today!
I never allowed kids to pull out all of the toys. 2 sets of items (cars and the tracks). At 5 before dad gets home everyones cleans their items in the livingroom.
Ah so I'm not the only one who tidies up while the microwave is going.
This is off topic, but both you beautiful ladies haven’t aged a day since you originally made this video! Must be good genes 😊
My beautician (in her 30's) said that people age 80 or over are demanding when it comes to phones. My rule for work is you have to be dead, dieing, or bleeding to call me at work.
Talking about OCD, I'm almost 74 and always had dishwashers. I DO NOT wash my dishes before washing them again. What a waste of time. 🙄
If it doesn’t have a home, it shouldn’t be in your house. People have too much s@#$ these days, houses are overflowing with junk.

My 13 year olds a headache . I gave her a hamper with 3 sections but clothes still all over the bathroom floor . I don’t understand 🤦🏻♀️
Your hair looks good .OCD is not a chose .
It is a choice how you deal with it just like any other mental illness like depression, bi-polar, anxiety all of it is a choice how you handle it.
Whats with the sharp cut off on videos
There's but so many ways to recycle the same topic.
This video is ~8yrs old but info still applies
