I would really love to see Norristown get the same revitalization treatment that Ambler, Lansdale and Phoenixville have had in the last decade. Would love to hear people's thoughts on how they think Norristown will be revived over the next 10 years (or if it won't!). I think there is enough money and interest in doing so, and I think that huge courthouse project will really help to make main street more appealing. I don't know that it will ever be at Doylestown or West Chester levels, but I think it can get much better (and safer) than it is now. I know they are also trying to revive the state hospital there to better serve the mental health/ addiction crisis in the area. I think this could be an incredible community in the coming years, but we need to fight an uphill battle of people associating "Norristown" with "Sh--hole". Certainly the surrounding areas in Trooper/ Audubon/ W & E Norriton, Plymouth Meeting and Valley Forge are really great places to live, hoping Norristown will finally see a piece of that success.

I wish you were correct. I’ve heard that norristown ships It’s mentally ill and homeless off in busses to Pottstown because it has cheap housing and that is partly why Pottstown has gotten really bad. I worked at the mall so I could see it.

I was born in SW Philly and my parents moved us to Norristown in the late 70’s. I grew up on Moore St and I had an amazing child hood. We had the YWCA ,YMCA, The Carver and countless other things. As I got older I watched the decline. It saddens me cause I loved it as a kid and wanted my children to experience it as well. I moved away 9yrs ago and my family still there and I visit from time to time and the place where I grew up has changed so much

I am happy to see something positive about this part of suburban Philadelphia region. I was born at Lankenau hospital and grew up in Valley Forge. Visited my father in Coshohocken and Norristown for many years. Norristown was synonymous in my mind with fear of drug activity, and very heavy incarceration activity. I really hope Norristown can continue on the up and up if it really is going in that direction now.

My husband and I came to Norristown in 1999 as new homeowners seeking affordable housing that was close to highways and KOP (where I worked at the time) and never left because it just kept serving our needs. We raised our daughter here through the public schools and she loved her experience and is thriving at college now. We love being part of a diverse, progressive and growing town with beautiful architecture, a rich history, and a bright future! Very good video, Chris, and thank you for making it!

All of my mom's family still lives in Norristown. Norristown was late to the game when Pennsylvania gave out grants for revitalization of neighborhoods. Conshohocken took the grants in the 80's and our one square mile town was on the cutting-edge of growing and improving. Hopefully Norristown will have the same outcomes that Conshy has.

Norristowns future is scary. The way the school district has no discipline for their students acting out, skipping classes, having terrible grades. The fact that Roosevelt even exists goes to show how bad our school system is. I think forcing students into doing group activities like sports or clubs is enough to help students stay out of trouble.

I grew up spending my weekends at my grandparents house on Trooper Rd. Loved the zoo. Texas Hots at Montgomery Lunch. Hell, I was born in Norristown. Years later, I moved there. Lived on Airy St for almost 3 years. And now, I can honestly say, from the bottom of my heart, with every fiber of my being, FU@& NORRISTOWN. Not everyone or everything is bad. Some nice places. Decent people. Even an actual good cop or two. But unfortunately 90% of the police force is on an ego fueled power trip. The majority of the local officials have god complexes. The prison is corrupt as hell. The homeless population is tremendous, growing, and offered very little help or opportunity. The drug situation is out of control and beyond belief. It's a damn shame. Comparing what it was to what it is, seeing what it has become and will be. The best thing to do in Norristown is LEAVE . . .

They do have a lot of diversity in Norristown and a lot of places where you can also enjoy diverse food as well. There are some nice people in Norristown, but you have a lot of not so nice people as well.
There is a culture of people who wanna fight, argue, disrespect their elders, disrespect women, steal out of the local stores that cannot stop them and curse people out and don't care.
Also, there is a subtle level of racism that do exist and it comes out in the persons behavior. It's subtle, but noticeable.
You, have a lot of adults between the ages of 30 and 80 that cannot read, write or do arithmetic and lack basic communication skills. I don't know who's fault that is, nor am I'm judging. I'm just saying, what I've seen and experienced.
