    I have found one exactly the same as this one two years ago while old building was demolished.
    It was in much worse condition but i could not leave it.
    It was welded by the previous owner to the steele bench so i had to make new holding ears.
    Anvill part was beaten up so i have welded new layer of steele and i made it flat again on milling machine.
    I had to install replacable jaws beacouse old monolith jaws where destroyed, genuine Heuer 160mm backen where fitted and they work great, gap was milled and allan screws installed.
    I have machined new bronze thrust washer and new handle from 42CrMo4. Handle and spindlle head where blued, rest of vise i had painted in navy blue hardcoat shipp paint.
    I assume that it is more than 60 years old. Too bad i have not filmed complete process.

    One Question: I plan to refurbish the same old model. Now I noticed that the spindle is misaligned due to the aligning thread welded flush to the left. Is this due to the design or defective manufacturing? How is it with your vise? Best regards! Stefan

    • @restorecreate
      @restorecreate  Рік тому +1

      Hi Stefan, there is no problem, it works fine, what aligns it is the big screw that tightens it.

    Nice work! Just curious, as I'm currently restoring the same model: at about 2:50 you're taking the spindle out, but didn't show how you got the retaining washer (or whatever it is called) to pop out. Could you let me know how you did that? Thank you!

      Thank you Nick Baumeister,the shaft has a notch, there inside is the thin iron that I take out with the small pliers, as soon as you take it out the washers have come out and at the end the shaft comes out.

      This is a german vise,very old forged steel vise,still the company produce the same style,and their prices are too high.Also AMG F1 pits they have vises from this company,but in black,i think its a very good vise,i dont know why someone will by a vise with no replacement jaws,but thats life.Why Yost made in Taiwan is better ?
