DON'T Go Florida Bass Fishing WITHOUT THIS Lure!

- Don't go florida bass fishing without this lure! This is the best florida bass fishing bait for around the spawn but it also works in other parts of the country as well! The prop bait is an excellent way to catch bass in shallow water and around the spawn because of the stop and start motion that suspends over a bed or fry. Florida bass fishing around the spawn can be amazing with this bait as you can cover areas where fish could be bedding but you can't see them. Give the prop bait a try next time you are fishing and see how much fun it can be!

My dad's favorite. Florida boy here
Awesome!
I have an old Heddon's Dying Flutter, which actually still catches fish!
Love the devils horse in the Spring here in Florida
I've been fishing Devils Horses for over fifty years and they come in at least three sizes some with double spinners and some with single spinners. They even have one with no spinners called a toothpick, it has a ball weight on the rear end in front of the back hook. On Toledo Bend the Bullfrog color is a good a early morning summertime favorite.
Bought a vintage version of that same color. Swapped out the hooks and crushed them at local pond this summer.
Awesome!
I was using that same lure in the 80’s. Daredevil
Nice!
Great video bud
Thanks!
When I was younger my dad threw it all the time starting in the spring into late summer. I was too young and had no patience to fish this lure. Fast forward 30+ years, I’m patient and they absolutely crush it and it gets the bigger bites.
Yes it does!
my grandfather caught hundreds of bass on Kerr Lake with those things. i mean they are old school. Berkeley has something similar called the Spin Rocket.
Awesome!
Try the weighted boy howdy sits tail down it’s plastic bait
I usually change out treble hooks for inline hooks on my walking top waters, will that work for a prop bait?
It could if you prefer it!
Love the devils horse. What size hooks and split rings do you use to modify the devils horse?
Size 2 split ring and a size 6 hook
Well, I'm going to fish it in the extreme summer heat and cover water with it. It may not work as well, but we'll see if it works.
Which hooks do you use to upgrade the devils horse Nathan?
Gamakatsu magic eye round bend size 6!
Yellow black stripe
Is this bait effective on the Chain in Florida
Yes!
I’m heading to FL next week, thanks for all of the insight in this one and your other recent videos.
@Ty's Fishing Rigs staying inland I believe, but will certainly keep you in mind if that changes!
Awesome good luck!
awesome around the spawn, don't worry about pin point accuracy as they will travel 15+ ft to eat it.
They come in 3/8 like you have and 1/2. You will probably have to shop at an independent tackle shop to get the 1/2s. The 1/2 oz. size is even better with the rounded props...Roland Martin said the white with black stripes is his favorite lure.
I’ve only seen the one size!
I'm in central Florida and like the bigger one bc I can flip it back into tight openings or pockets. It's my number 1 lure year round.
Man I picked up a couple last year man and that thing killed it here in NC
They’re awesome!
original devils horse wood must be "doctored" . rapala makes a fine bait very much superior right out of the box.
This is true!
Wow, Nathan, that is definitely old school. I've had one in my tacklebox but haven't thrown it in several decades. However, I can see it working and I am sure today's bass haven't seen anything exactly like that before.
Definitely!
That is called yellow with stripes
One of my favorite baits. I think not to many anglers use it cause they don't have the patience to fish slowly
I agree!
That bait works just as well up here in Wisconsin along weed edges And not for just bed fishing. One of my best top water days on the water was when the skies clouded over and the wind picked up to make the water a little more than a ripple. I had the same problem using braid but what I did was take out some 7 strand Wire I always carry and made a 2 inch leader out of it by wrapping it around the eye of the Bait And then extending it back to a swivel which I tied my braid too. One difference from what you did is that when I did the 2 small jerks I made them hard jerks. The bait gives off a lot Of sound and commotion that way. I happen to land on a good school of 2 1/2 and 3 pound bass and for the next 40 minutes they went nuts over the bait. Several times they actually knocked it up in the air over 2 Feet and I would just wait until it landed and give it one jerk and they were on it again. This was, by the way, in July. There are also other tricks you can use to keep braid away from the blades. As you say using mono will work just fine As you say using mono will work just fine.
It definitely works well everywhere!
Good way to prevent the line from wrapping around the prop. Cut an inch or so of the little plastic tube off a spray can of WD40 and thread it on the line ahead of your knot to the bait. Add a bobber stop to keep it from sliding away from the knot if you prefer
Interesting!
All everyone talk about is Florida! 😠
He was just there and it is where a large number of people are actively fishing in Feb during the spawn and post spawn now. You could do a similar video for anywhere north of Florida from April-May but this is the right time for Florida 😉
Because Florida is the place to be!!
That's where all the tournaments start every year it seems
We can’t fish where I’m from yet but soon!
