Chinese BBQ is one of the things we love to eat while living in China. It's outdoor vibe, free flowing beer, and awesome food makes it one of the most quintessential China experiences. So you can imagine our surprise when we found authentic Chinese barbecue in America!
This restaurant served traditional north eastern Chinese dishes, along with Tsingtao beer, and lots of delicious lamb and beef skewers. Other specialties like fried milk, and bbq cold noodles made this a really special place. However, just like any barbecue in China, it wasn't without it's weird food!

Daniel Chow I wish they had their wives or other native Chinese people. Wondering if they'd prefer the taste of water buffalo to beef since that's what they grew up with?

    • @skyninja301
      @skyninja301 6 років тому +2

Yeh. And it seems they tolerate the fatty-skewered lamb bbq found in China but when they got lamb bbq in the US, they suddenly noticed the quality is higher! I could never prefer buffalo meat in China btw; rough and tasteless. I suspect typically the animal is mainly raised as a beast of burden before it gets chopped into overpriced "meat-like" steak.

I LOVED this video...!! I think what made me enjoy it the most is the goat or sheep call after eating the lamb balls. I grew up ranching and have had the pleasure of eating them as well as bull balls (Ricky mountain oysters) and I absolutely LOVE them. It's not for everyone obviously, but you both were open to trying them. Thank you both for the entertaining video and your of the best Chinese food in America. As always "STAY AWESOME!!"

I find that model of Corvette very comfortable, the seat conforms to the body well and can accommodate even tall individuals. I love how it feels like you're riding a go-cart because your body is so close to the ground and you get so much road feel. My only comfort complaint is the air conditioning isn't great and the engine runs hot enough that the foot wells warm up too much as the firewall isn't as effective as I'd like it to be.

羊肉 yang rou can also be both lamb and mutton. Chinese is so unspecified in this area.
The “rice noodles” on top of the oysters are in fact Shirataki noodles, come from a yam-like tuber called Devil's Tongue. They are gluten free, calorie free.

Hi Laowhy&Serpentza, thanks for this amazing video again! The BBQ place looks pretty authentic for me. Just one thing, I think 烤冷面 just became pretty popular in most parts of China from last year/last two years, not sure originally from where and I haven't go back for 3 years tho, but my friends (at least friends in Nanjing city) always mention about this dish. As a Chinese who grew up in Liaoning, a northeast province in China, studied for four years as a university student in Chengdu and now working in Shenzhen, I can hardly find a satisfying restaurant to eat BBQ. When it comes to BBQ, there are northeast China and Xinjiang. When it comes to hotpot, there are Sichuan and Chongqing. Guangdong is place to have soup and morning tea and definitely not a good choice for BBQ.

Like, they're probably about average, maybe a little above average authenticity. But their sauces are out of this world! The sweet and sour isn't especially sugary (ya'know, like it usually is at cheap places), and it's really more pungent than sour. From what I'm understanding, that's more traditional than we usually get here in the states.
Aaaand now I've made myself miss living in that area... might have to go visit family soon. lol

  • @Quarton

LOL! You guys are very good with joking around, giving a critique of the authenticity of the Chinese foods, as well as rating the taste factor. I think this would make a great Road Trip for Americans out on the West Coast!
About the lamb balls - I grew up on the family farm, and we had all of the things like beef tongue, hog brains, etc., however, my mom drew the line at "rocky mountain oysters" (hog balls)! We'd have a whole bunch, fresh from castrating the young 'uns. They would have been as fresh as you could get, but she still refused to cook 'em! I've had them elsewhere, and they're like you describe - not the best "texture"!! Keep on making great videos. . . you're on a roll!

Fried milk you have to go to my hometown shunde. It's in Foshan not far from you guys. The food capital of China. The oyster noodle is actually yam noodles aka shirataki.

HAHAHA! I have never laughed harder from one of your videos than when I saw your reactions to tasting the sheep testicles.
Still, this BBQ restaurant looks amazing, and I WANT THAT FOOD! Mouth watering!!
Advice: I really liked the 'synchronized bite' thing you two were doing at the beginning of this video. It should be a recurring theme, similar to how Winston removes his sunglasses.
    Thanks for another great video!

There's a place called Skewers & Brews in downtown San Jose that does lamb skewers, and you get that fat, it's excellent.

the noodles on the top of those oysters are not rice noodles. They are made out of a root vegetable called Conjac. Also they have 0 calories therefore lots of weight loss imitation noodles, imitation rice, is made out of this stuff. there are different shapes and variety made out of the same stuff. I love it in hotpot, or dishes that are soupy cause its tastelss.

烤冷面 authenticity 10, you won't see this in any established places. the little illegal cart outside of my cousin's high school is there every night when the students walk out of their classes. It is probably only known to northern high school students. Even the parents don't want their kids eating this cuz its probably not too clean given their cooking condition. But it is 100% authentic if you have gone to a northern Chinese high school.
