Excellent batrep. Would be cool to see games against Custodes and Hypercrypt with lots of C'Tan as these are the 2 scariest opponents a noble Archon can face right now

brutal matchup, with all that movement and anti-armor idk what id do as the chaos knight player.
Ideally in teams he avoids that matchup.

Skari I have a question - were you not worried about your scourges if you didnt win first turn? Like wouldnt the indirect just melt them? What would you have done in that situation? Or do you think the indirect would not have been able to kill all the scourges?
Not really , he can focus down a unit , but with a 3+ save against the havocs they are not super efficient at clearing them .

It's unfortunate but to be truly competitive with chaos knights you still have to run all wardogs a daemons. I play competitive chaos knights normally I run
1 Stalker
1 Executioner
6 Karnivores
4 Brigands
3 Nurglings units
1 Beast of Nurgle
Pretty much, my list is x1 Stalker, x6 Brigand, x4 Karnivores, x3 Nurglings, x2 Beast of Nurgle. Its amazing how squishy big Knights really are for their points compared to how people makes them out to be, specially on melee. That 3+ Sv and the (conditional) 5++ really makes them no favours on melee.
My main issue are the Army Rules, they are sooo bad, and its a shame its the army rules ad not detachment, that GW can make more of, since im certain they will not change army rules for CKs because they are convinced battleshock is good. Even when we finally get a new detachment, the army rules will remain being bad (arguably worst, since the detachment is the only thing making it activate without the need for less-than half strenght.)
The nurglings are quite good !
Man, Chaos knights are in a rough spot right now. I literally have never seen this army in win person or in any battle report. What a dogwater army.
It does have some bad matchups
There is a battle report on art of wars channel where CK stomps demons. That’s the only one I’ve see.
The problem with 90% of CK bat reps is that they are either running super off meta lists into more competitive lists, or the CK player has never played the faction before and is just borrowing the army for the game. This is literally the second battle report I’ve seen where someone runs a remotely competitive list with CK.
Edit: Just realized the chaos knight list here didn’t have any demons. Unfortunately they’re pretty much mandatory at the moment.
A score or more dark lances/haywires against Chaos Knights with a 5++? This won’t end well for them.

Do you have to take the archons inv save or can you choose to take the armour save if you wish?
You can choose to use any save you want for any save roll.
I had a fight against Chaos Knights and it didn't go well for me because I got too scared and played stupid. Seeing this helps. If you tackle them methodically and from a distance it seems they can melt quite gloriously.

Poor CKs... :(, i sooo wish for better army rules, but im certain GW doesnt care. Big Knights still way too weak for their points, they are so cool but so not good, they hit hard 1 turn and then proceed to die... for 400+ points.
Yeah, both knights need some love.
Coolest models in the game. 40K meta: A CTAN can kill a knight at half the points cost but a knight can’t kill a CTAN. Love your work Scary!
