I love this!!! I recently used up all my scrap swatches to make cards. I never thought to make swatched on purpose for cards. A good use of specialty paints.
Oooh thanks so much Lindsay!!! I had you and your channel in mind as I was having a go at this. I feel that you also enjoy colour and vibrant projects and, well, just things that are lots of fun. Thanks so much for popping by to watch!!💜💜💜🤓👍
Joie your killing me girl! Seriously each week it's like well that's going on the list. At this rate I'm gonna be crafting my heart out 500 years into eternity😅 Thanks so much for such a simple but stunning project!!
Using cut-outs from children’s dictionaries as decorative elements is a super idea, thanks a lot for this and all the other stuff you generously show to us, the eager followers and those who like to escape the world for a while.
Save this Playlist packed with 69 Tutorials and it keeps getting bigger. Many also have FREE Process Steps, and I use basic supplies. Enjoy! ua-cam.com/play/PLqbiR8lE_j3sXPoSIqleqyWQpmMyb4sCb.html
Joie, the thing that draws me to you the most is your unique style you bring to projects. I have decided it is the Joie effect. I adore your love of color. You seem to have a genuine love for paper & art in general. You have spectacular supplies. It is very helpful if you share the brand, product names etc along with seeing them so we easily identify as we are on the hunt to play too. I love the color blending that was oodles of fun. Plus so many were gorgeous. I have heard a couple of the collaboraters unsure of the colors for the challenge...I find that mind boggling because red, green & orange is everywhere for fall. What was in the gift bag? I think you said an alternative if you didn't have some of the supplies. Can't wait to see you use these in upcoming projects. Thanks for a great video. Very inspiring. I just adore you!
Great project ! Just wanted to say , YES your ideas are extremely helpful. It’s great using digital , and paper pads , but for me the magic happens when I do it all with papers I make . Thank you !
Couldn’t agree more. Old days you painted, drew, created your own focus points. Now someone else does it and die cuts and all you do is stick it together. Takes all the fun out of it.
Well done Joie - very creative. If adding stitching to paper, I do so by hand with size 3 or 5 pearle cotton and of course long stitches - like seed stitching. When I make these cluster rolls or strips, I use my own hand-painted fabrics on long tears of a base fabric. In that case I may use free-motion machine stitching (a quilting technique.)

@@zajournals Thank you! Great information, I appreciate very much. Do you have a video on your process by any chance? (because I'm not sure what "sun print" is...) but thank you for answering.
@@Kayenne54 well it looks like UA-cam deleted my reply. No I don't make videos, at least not yet. Sun printing is laying freshly painted fabric in the sun with objects on it, like feathers or leaves. When the fabric drys the object's impression is left on it.
This one is power packed with brilliant colors! I loved the paint swatches alone but each added element truly brought this project to life. Yes indeed I so appreciate all the affordable tips and tricks you provide us with in each video. Stunning artistry as always.🍁😊 🍂
I keep touching the wrong place. So I'm back again. My dear you have done it again. I feel like I've lost my mojo but I think this project will definitely move me to a new place. I love this idea and I'm so looking forward to making these beautiful strips. My problem then will probably be that I won't want to cut them up and I will want to hold them for a while
P.S. I think that these will make great book marks and I plan to put a birthday sentiment on the back and use them as substitute birthday cards because I have a large group of women that get together to celebrate the birthdays of the month. Wouldn’t these be a sweet change from the regular birthday card!!💕
August..28...2024 those colors are so pretty. Blue and purple are my favorite colors. Your journal is awesome...and so are you. You'll get to where you are supposed to be and you'll be able to keep helping others. Stay positive. 🙏🙏🤗🤗🤗🤗💜💜
Thank you for leaving these up--I'm new to junk journals, so your material is new to me. I just painted four future belly bands in this way, and I'm waiting for them to dry. I'm eager for you to feel well enough to do a few more videos now and then. In the meantime, I'm mining your back catalog for gems like this!
I never fail to come away from one of your videos feeling energized, enthusiastic, creative, inspired. The negatives (ha ha) are that I tend to head to eBay for a couple of books (looking for children's dictionaries tonight), off to Etsy to look at Tracie's fussy cuts, and to Amazon for the metallic watercolors which I have been admiring (coveting?) for the last dozen videos. Thank you so sincerely, Joie, for your immeasurable contribution to the world of artistic play. Take care, stay safe. Hugs from Texas, Diane
I've been looking at those metallic watercolors and wondering if I need them, since I already have metallic paint pens, metallic acrylic, metallic sharpie markers, metallic gel pens . . . and the answer now is YES! I need them. I also realize that buying art supplies and using them are two completely separate hobbies 😂
I have a few ( really, Ems? A FEW??!!??) Printouts but you, dear one, have led me to look at beautiful books AND to, of all things, use water colors on all sorts of pages. I honestly think that you have nudged me out of my comfy little box more than anyone! You're the best, my Joie! Hugs, Ems 🤗❤️🌵❤️🤗

wow!!! your videos of the things you make are getting awsome-er and awsome-er!!! Love this!! definitely have enough strips to make some... I just found metallic paints at of all places, the dollar store which are so smooth and creamy reminds me of lipstick. Unlike crayons, the metalic paints are so so so nice and perfect for this project (although there is no gold just the basic colors! Just wondering with all this awsomeness, how does one use it?
Thank you for letting us know where you purchase the paints, and ephemeral. Being new at this, it helps. I really love your style. Thank you for sharing.
Just catching up on your videos after a bout if bronchitis and I LOVE this! I don’t have a sewing machine, but I can use long stitches with an awl and thread or foam squares. But just the colour swatches are beautiful in their own!
One more great video painting and playing with color! So much fun! I haven’t created my collage yet as my paint strips need to dry but can’t wait to rewatch and create the collage on the strip! 😊😊
Do you just sometimes wake up being absolutely brilliant or does it come everyday naturally? I love everything about this you mad genius of a woman! lol
If you add very wet splatters on top of digital images, the image colors can run, unless you print them with a color laser printer. Yours have stayed nice and crisp, so I assume that’s what you used for printing.
Hi Pattie, that's definitely something to be wary of. I use 90 GSM paper in an Inkjet Printer, I do try to use not too much water when I'm splatting as your point is very valid. 🤓👍❤️
Hmmmm, I think that's more for pastels and chalks. I've never tried on paint. I have some cheap paints, they seem to have enough pigment....maybe just try and see??
I use them as belly bands, yes, but I also cut off whatever amount I need just for decoration...on altered envelopes and pockets and journal cards. ❤️❤️❤️👍🤓
I love this idea. Your videos are very helpful in inspiring me to try new ideas. I am trying my first one now. My eyes are not good enough for me to use a sewing machine, but I may try some hand stitching.

I just found metallic paints at of all places, the dollar store which are so smooth and creamy reminds me of lipstick. Unlike crayons, the metalic paints are so so so nice and perfect for this project (although there is no gold just the basic colors! Just wondering with all this awsomeness, how does one use it?
Cut it up and use pieces to decorate pages or pockets, make belly bands. Anything you like!!!!❤️
Thank you for letting us know where you purchase the paints, and ephemeral. Being new at this, it helps. I really love your style. Thank you for sharing.
You're very welcome!🥰
Just catching up on your videos after a bout if bronchitis and I LOVE this! I don’t have a sewing machine, but I can use long stitches with an awl and thread or foam squares. But just the colour swatches are beautiful in their own!
Or just use a pen!🥰👍
Wonderful project! Absolutely LOVE it. Thank you.
You're very welcome
Love your strips!!! ♥️♥️♥️🥰🥰🥰🌺🌺🌺. Teal & orange!!!
Hooray!!❤️🥰👍🤓
Really fun idea thank you im about to make some myself
Fantastic
@joiedefi they turned out really cute. I did 3 themes birds, butterflies, and constellations. Thank you for the idea.
What an enriching process and beautiful result with only a few supplies. 😊 Every block of color was a little piece of art. Thank you for sharing!
Ooooh thanks very much Phyllis!!💜💜👍🤓
Watercolor? Thought you were British ?
I regularly change the spelling to match the country. Unless it's in Korean. Lol.
I am, but my audience is primarily in the US. Fair comment though 🤓
Wonderful idea Joie, definitely something new to try! You come up with the best ideas!♥️♥️
Hooray!!!! I'm so pleased that you like it!!❤️🤓👍💜
Hi Joie🤗. These are so gorgeous!!!!❣️❣️
One more great video painting and playing with color! So much fun! I haven’t created my collage yet as my paint strips need to dry but can’t wait to rewatch and create the collage on the strip! 😊😊
Fantastic!!❤️🤓👍💜
Do you just sometimes wake up being absolutely brilliant or does it come everyday naturally? I love everything about this you mad genius of a woman! lol
Awww, you're too generous, but I like it!!🤭🤭🤭🤓❤️
If you add very wet splatters on top of digital images, the image colors can run, unless you print them with a color laser printer. Yours have stayed nice and crisp, so I assume that’s what you used for printing.
Hi Pattie, that's definitely something to be wary of. I use 90 GSM paper in an Inkjet Printer, I do try to use not too much water when I'm splatting as your point is very valid. 🤓👍❤️
A wonderful idea! So useful and pretty. All your projects are so clever and yet, practical. Love that!
Awww, thanks so much!!❤️❤️
Brilliant!! What a lovely idea!!❤❤ Thank you for sharing. 💕🥰💕
You're very welcome!!❤️
My watercolour paints are quite cheap and chalky. I've heard that you can set the paint by spraying with hairspray. What's your thought on this?
Hmmmm, I think that's more for pastels and chalks. I've never tried on paint. I have some cheap paints, they seem to have enough pigment....maybe just try and see??
Do you use these as belly bands? What else do you use them for? Loved the tutorial once again. I think my fav’ colour is green, seems to draw me in.
I use them as belly bands, yes, but I also cut off whatever amount I need just for decoration...on altered envelopes and pockets and journal cards. ❤️❤️❤️👍🤓
Love this, great for using up bits and bods and I'm having fun joining along as I watch
Fantastic!!!!🤓👍💜
Thank you for sharing! You made me immediately dig my watercolors out and watch again! I love your creativity.
That's fantastic Michelle, I'm delighted to hear that!!❤️
Creative lovely useful item! TY😊
My favourite combination is the orange and green 💚 although orange is a colour that I stay away from, I love that you've enticed me to like it 😊
Hehe, nice one!!🤓👍💜
I love this idea. Your videos are very helpful in inspiring me to try new ideas. I am trying my first one now. My eyes are not good enough for me to use a sewing machine, but I may try some hand stitching.
That sounds great!!👍💜
this is a lovely idea! I was looking for the digi you used with the bold words, please can you send me a link? thanks a lot for all your ideas, I used a lot in my autumn album!
I wonder if these are the ones you're referring to....the really bold word ones ... www.etsy.com/listing/1242997880/really-random-colour-labels-digital-kit
