      I also forgot, there was no pole, they just had a basket in their hands. Magsaysay had a small concrete strip down the center of the road. Most bars had dirt floors.

    HISTORY - 15 DEC 1944 - 31 JAN 1945 - INVASION OF MINDORO #WWII
    Not a major operation in comparison, the invasion was still an important intermediate objective in the liberation of the Philippines. Its offered locations for airfields and anchorage closer to Luzon than those on Leyte.

    Yes I tossed the kids a few pisos off "the bridge" they would bring the coin up in their teeth !! Why I never fell in I don't know cause, I was walking while drunk ! Then I'd get a ham and cheese sandwich on the corner!🇸🇽🍺

    I tossed the coins from 1982 through 1984. There would also be a "River Queen" in a little hand made Canoe wearing a nice dress to toss your pesos to. If you missed the Queen the kids swimming in the river would get the coins. HAHA. Great memories.

    Let’s not forget a great American, the 1st to break the sound barrier and so many accomplishments in the old planes to the SR-71 which you all should read about that one. General Chuck Yeager passed away on December 7, aged 97 years old. He had the right stuff. RIP General Yeager. West by gawd Virginian.

    My first trip to Pubic Bay was in 1967 on the Shitty Kitty. Ferdinand Marcos and Olongapo Mayor Gordon had O'Po under martial law and it was like the wild wild west. Everybody carried guns and at 2200 hours they strung out the barbed wire and you better be off the streets. I had stick liberty one night when there was a big gunfight and that was back before the days of kevlar or ceramic plates.

    Hahahaaa King , True story , A guy I work with was telling me about "shit river" for about 2 years, He told me the stories of the kids diving for Pesos ..... He also told me about a game the guys would play after the day was over and they would all be drinking around a table the they would have a local lady under the table ..ahhh servicing them .. The object of the game was not to smile ...So the game was called Smile....hahaa...He was there around the same time as your boy Kevin , He was a Marine though....Rescued refugees from Cambodia ...and was involved in the security for the Navy...

    Marcos, I have to say that I’m really disapointed on your recent videos. I couldn’t care less hearing what Kevin has to say. I hope you could do some exploring on your travel show and not just sit and get drunk. Even that there is a pandemic going on, it doesn’t stop you from exploring and creating better footage. It just need’s some creativity and the right kind of attitude. And I know you have that in you if you just cut down the drinking and start exercicing again and that way you could be more dynamic and also more entertaining.
    I know my English isn’t perfect, but bare with me cause I’m from Finland and English isn’t my first language

    Prior to the period that you described, one would cross the Shit River Bridge and there would always be a dozen or so of small banca boats there. In each one there would be a lone teenaged girl wearing a long white dress standing with a pole with a basket to catch the coins. The kids would be swimming around catching the coins that the girls missed...rarely. They outlawed this because the river was so bad that most kids were blind before they reached their teens. They could prevent the girls in the boats but found it difficult, for a time, to keep the kids out of the water. That is why they put up a tall fence that you couldn’t see through. Interesting thing, it only happened on the side of outgoing traffic. It was amazing to see these gals in white robes...especially at night. Surrealistic but sad. I still have a couple of Polaroids in a box somewhere.

    • @casaconti2841
      @casaconti2841 3 роки тому

      I just remembered, you went out and in on the same side of the bridge. But, there was a roped divider. Most of the Sailors that threw coins were sober because the closest and roped off side was the side that you left the base.

    Hey my guy. Big fan of yours. Southern born ex leo here and i'm intrigued by your story. My question is: Are there any ways an expat can make money in these countries without operating remotely or teaching? I'm 34 single and tired of the grind. I have a small amount of savings but not much. While researching travelling on the cheap I found you. I figured if there were a hustle you would know about it. Objectively I would like an extended vacation that could turn into a permanent situation given the opportunity to earn. Thanks bro & keep up the good work.
