    Great video 👍. I just bought a 98 c230 and I need to do motor mounts. This showed me all I need to know. Screw George below!

    I really appreciate this video. I'm going to change the same mount on my 99 Mercedes this weekend and your video showed me just what to do. I'm glad I found this.

    Just finished my R170 using this as a guide. I had to remove the steering damper, and the tie rod because my jack wouldn't lift the engine high enough for the Driver side mount to clear. Thank you for the video.

      good to know...I'm looking at an r170 for the GF... I guess being a bit smaller, there's less wiggle room,,thanks

    What a world of difference after replacing all 3 mounts. Couldn't believe how much better the car handles when being aggressive but also how much more comfortable it is cruising around town, and my driver's side and tranny ones didn't even look that bad (the pass one was completely split in two though)

      you found an easy way to get to the left mount ?

    • @TheStiver
      @TheStiver 10 років тому

      Not exactly. I was going to make a custom tool to get the top bolt but it was faster just to take out the bracket in the way. I almost just skipped replacing it because it wasn't collasped but it was brittle/stiff when I took it out so I'm glad I did. I'm kind of surprised how soft the new mounts are, I can rock the engine around a bit just pushing on the valve cover now but it eliminated 96% of my vibrations. My idle is still a tad jumpy, cleaning TB helped a little but I'm thinking upstream O2 is a little out of spec

      Btw I found out today there's supposed to be a plastic duct that directs air from the bumper to the right motor mount to help cool it... Mines missing. I'll rig something up when I get bored

    You make it look so easy. think I could do it? Never done mounts before but I’ve done valve covers and all kind of other stuff. My buddy did his cadi and he was out of commission for 2 days lol 😂

      The benz ones are pretty simple especially if you have small hands. undoing the top bolt it the biggest pain , but not too bad. Only do one side at a time or lining up the bottom bolts is nasty

    One more question does the price $61.79 include one or both mounts.

    Hi again where did you buy your mounts because at my Mercedes dealer they cost $180 each, and at autohouseAZ they are selling the same mount for left and right

    Thank you for this video! I am assuming motor mounts are my issue. I have crappy vibrations during idle and pretty crazy vibration after 60mph I was told this could be my culprit. What do you think?

    • @fupabox
      @fupabox  9 років тому

      +bolivianfuego it is very likely the mounts are dead...don't forget the transmission mount as well...it's dead simple and can cause nearly as much vibration as the main mounts

      +fupabox thanks! I will look into replacing that also. Just hoping it's not bushings!

    At 4:08 you start jacking up the engine after removing the driver's side bottom mount bolt. Can you raise the engine with only one of the two engine mounts loose or do you have to unbolt both sides first? Thanks.

    • @fupabox
      @fupabox  9 років тому +1

      you can do one side at a time... the mount on the opposite side will keep the engine from sliding too far sideways, and is flexible to allow just the one side to tilt up

    "As someone who's been pinned under a car" Yikes! Yeah, that's f'in scary.
    Dropped a transmission in a Toyota pickup once, and pulled it out right onto my chest...
    managed to wiggle out, and get the trans off my chest, but dang, it was pretty scary.
    One should always have someone around when under a car and never ever neglect to use jack stands. Thanks for the video. I think this is something I can do, on my M111 engine W203, should be about the same as a 202. Regarding the bolts they sell a special wrench for like 15 bucks online for Mercedes. Anyone try it?

    • @fupabox
      @fupabox  6 років тому +1

      OMG that's unreal .. I lowered a 1990 Toyota 4x4 pickup tranny on my chest too (replacing clutch ) ! didn't expect it to be that heavy ..there wasn't enough room under neath and had to squirm out. I expected to be able to just bench press the bugger in and out .. Hah..nope .. Glad to have company on that one :) maybe someone has tried that 15mm ..

      I know it's a bit late but never too late go to partsgeek . Com that have what you need in affordable prices, and yes change it out but prepare to change oil also and filter and surround gasket.

    on their website when I look for 97 c280 it says front left, front right but it doesn't give you an option of which one. I don't wont to get 2 right or two lefts

    So Lemforder/Lemfoerder is the OE supplier for MB but everywhere I could find them they only sell the same mount for either side. Is that heat shield the only difference? My car doesn't have one of those now but the pass. side mount is much worse than the dr. side, should I make my own heat shield?

    • @fupabox
      @fupabox  10 років тому

      if you check rockauto..they have the 2 mounts listed separately. But I believe the only difference is the silicone heat shield...if you made one it would have to be silicone..any metal would transfer heat to the engine mount

    • @TheStiver
      @TheStiver 10 років тому

      Sorry, I watched this one before I saw your pass. side video where you tossed the shield anyways. My car does have the metal shield, but based on the material of the other shield you showed I'm wondering if it isn't more of a protection again petroleum products leaking onto the mounts and deteriorating the rubber...?

    • @TheStiver
      @TheStiver 10 років тому

      ***** I actually ordered my Lemforder mounts from RockAuto. None of the brands listed under my particular model depict a shield even though some list L/R separately. I don't have any oil leaks and already have the OEM metal shield so I think I'll be okay.

    • @fupabox
      @fupabox  10 років тому

      The Stiver you know I completely forgot that the silicone shield wouldn't slip in when I did the passenger side..I just remembered it coming with the mount.. You're right I remember trying to find out what the silicone boot was for and never got a proper answer

    • @fupabox
      @fupabox  10 років тому

      The Stiver Although after checking just now, my clk (V6) has the silicone boots on both side engine mounts..I guess it must be for heat..

    What were the symptoms that led you to replace the engine mounts?

    • @Phrofetic_MayaN
      @Phrofetic_MayaN 4 роки тому +1

      Symptoms of a w202 motor mount is: shaky cabin even though she purrs like a kitten the vibrations are hard, also too take note that when you don't replace motor mounts it also messes up more than that, it messes with the, transmission mount. Flex plates and center bearing, bear in mind I had to replace all these at the same time in order to not have the center bearing mess up any further just to let you know what it does of an owner of w202 from another. Preventative maintenance is key to keep your benz running. So question yourself like, I have this benz over xxx,xxx amount of miles and it has been a while certain parts haven't been replaced? It needs replacement bad. W202 s are quite unique, give em a little tlc and it's very forgiving this is why I like the w202 would be legendary classic car.

    i have e200, when i stop at the light i feel some vibration and if i push it to N it stops vibrating, so would it stop vibrating if i change engine mounts?

    • @fupabox

    Hi,
    what does engine mount do or for?

    • @fupabox
      @fupabox  10 років тому +1

      it holds the engine in the chassis,and keeps engine vibrations from being felt by the passengers
