This still gives me goose bumps. Miss the days in the eighties when I was a kid, and by at least at a weekly basis either a Viggen, Draken, Lansen or SK-60 flew over our house. Of course, it was always my uncle flying all of them, and I would run out and wave :D (He flew AJ37 out of F7 wing, but was certified for the Lansen and of course SK-60 as well. Rode with him in one of those once). That's actually one of my strongest childhood memories, believe it or not. Me standing on top of the hill in my parents yard, waving frantically at an SK-60. As always, after running out up on top of the hill and waving when I heard them coming, I was about to go in the house again, when my mother shouted "Look, he's waving back!". And he was. The airplane was swaying from left to right, waving with it's wings. I guess that time it really was my uncle going in for a landing on the half-defunct Säve airstrip, and my mother told him I'd be waiting.... but it doesn't matter. One of my finest memories.
+Torbjörn “Hobbe” Sagen The Gripen, to me, lacks the beauty of the Viggen and the Draken. The Viggen will always be one of my all time favorites. It's an outstandingly beautiful aircraft. Technology's endless march forward, though, comes with more than one price, sadly.
Swedish weapons are always so sexy, AK-5, S-tank, JA-37, JAS-39. They are all far beyond the front of their current time, impressively. After all they were always ready for fighting the monstrous Soviet Russian at any time in that period. Tough guys and blonde girls, long live Sweden.
My uncle used to fly the fighter version of the Viggen. I'd swap lives with hime anytime... This aircraft is by far the coolest thing man have ever come up with, it even tops putting a man on the moon and an eventual cure for cancer.
Actualy it´s not at Helikopterflottiljen, It stands att "Flygvapenmuseum" and it will not rust away. The museum will take care of it so we can enjoy it for many years! ;)
As we speak, there are plaiing to fix up a SK37 A two seat trainer to get it back airworthy and up in the sky's once again. Remember the Viggen is almost a extinct bird in the sky!
"the show must go on" was the squadron motto of the last Viggen squadron on F10 (10th fighter wing) and the ghost was the symbol.. and read was the squadron color. thats the reason of the red Viggen with the ghost symbol and the text "the show must go on" the last JA37D Viggens was retired in late 2007 from F21 (21st fighter wing)
Maybe it was those two crafts that flew over our camp in småland when i was a child. It sounded like hell cause they flew wery low to the ground. They were really fast! Just had my eyes on them in 1 sec and they where gone, it was so awsome! Back then i thogth it was an invasion!!!
Ah yes... and the best bit is, I've just had an e-mail, and a friend of mine managed to get me a Heller Viggen kit down at Telford at the weekend! He also got me the Heller Lansen, another original Heller Tunnan, and best of all, the Heller Draken, which means I can (finally) build the 2-seater version!! Modelling is good, modelling is great.. Have I ever claimed anything else?? :) (And if he couldn't find those kits at Europes largest model show, where else could he?) :)
@Skuggan84 As late as 2007? i think it was a year or two earlier. I made my military conscript service as a flight mechanic on F21 from mid 07 to mid 08 and i never saw a Viggen there except for the Biltema owned renovation-project
Great stuff! A fitting tribute to a great plane and I disagree with certain other comments. I rather like your rendition of "The Show Must Go On" - do you guys have a CD out? Regards Wardy
The cover is made by a band that had a "relation" with 10th Wing in Ängelholm, and it´s a tribute to Viggen, not to Queen...the music it´s not primary...
Some are, but not in service, but the cost to get them maintained is to high, and the performance of the fighter, it´s a better deal to keep on with the SAAB 39 Erik and Felix variants.
Well sod off, then. This strikes us Swedes right in the heart, for the Viggen (Thunderbolt) is one of the many things we've given the world that we're very proud over.

Beautiful! I know time requires change, but the "Viggen" will still be the one combat aircraft for me.
For me it is the Draken.. but Viggen is a close second.. :)

RIP Viggen! Such a great aircraft.
My uncle used to fly the fighter version of the Viggen. I'd swap lives with hime anytime... This aircraft is by far the coolest thing man have ever come up with, it even tops putting a man on the moon and an eventual cure for cancer.
Correction: he flew out of F7, where they had the ground attack version.
Today it roared over our house, Västerås Sweden, again! First time since 2005. Heja Viggen!
Saw the restored Viggen flying at Sola Airshow this weekend. Pure nostalgia and a beautiful sight. Congratulation.
Actualy it´s not at Helikopterflottiljen, It stands att "Flygvapenmuseum" and it will not rust away. The museum will take care of it so we can enjoy it for many years! ;)
with the recent scrapping of the harrier jump jet her in britain i share my sympathies with you :)
Det bästa jag någonsin sett!
Jag älskar det flygplanet....
As we speak, there are plaiing to fix up a SK37 A two seat trainer to get it back airworthy and up in the sky's once again.
Remember the Viggen is almost a extinct bird in the sky!
It's the pilot in the movie thats sings the song
"the show must go on" was the squadron motto of the last Viggen squadron on F10 (10th fighter wing) and the ghost was the symbol..
and read was the squadron color.
thats the reason of the red Viggen with the ghost symbol and the text "the show must go on"

This is the most beautifull plane i ever seen

One of the most beautiful fighters in the world ever!
Maybe it was those two crafts that flew over our camp in småland when i was a child. It sounded like hell cause they flew wery low to the ground. They were really fast! Just had my eyes on them in 1 sec and they where gone, it was so awsome! Back then i thogth it was an invasion!!!

I could have gotten 'em for you wholesale LOL :)
nice to see a whole bunch of f10 guys together!
Aaaahhh! :D
Beautiful!
@Skuggan84

Great video! I love it!
It's a beauty.. :)
EXCELENTE!!!
@RubenCraninx Yes there is, a couple of them is held in operational status to fly on shows
grymt.
aaaaw beauty
Where did you get this footage? I’ve been trying to find old military videos of the Viggen.
You do not wish to engage any 37, ever.
Ironically most of teh planes in the videos are SF versions, not JA... hehe, still awesome. cna't decide if i like this version or queens the most.
Snowbird, yhear, right. 900 Torbo and SAAB Viggen.....Beautyful
Great stuff! A fitting tribute to a great plane and I disagree with certain other comments. I rather like your rendition of "The Show Must Go On" - do you guys have a CD out?

Buddy I need screwdriver..
😢
..
..
are there still viggen in operational flight???
@mtbs20 yeah, youre correct.. i mixed up some dates and numbers. thanks for correcting me.

It's easy to see why it has got it's name, when you look at the profile... :)
F10 R.I.P. * 1940 - † 2003
F10 blev mördad av regeringen Persson!
Epic.
The red Viggen is Placed in Malmoe, the Technical Museum.
can you rip that CD and email it to me?
cool mr wild beast, for sure:)
@blacket87 Unfortunatly, I think there is still one flying but for show purpose only
Buddy.., someone else is waiting sorry..😢
any details?
This makes me sad. But at least Koenigsegg makes fast machines at the site nowadays. I miss the air force though
the show didn't go on...
This version not is the original.
Yes, it's a GREAT SHAME! I was once at F10..
Queen are awsome, Swedish soldiers too.
Viggen is one of few planes that have locked on a american SR-71 spy plane. Bet that if you can!
"oroligt i Ryssland"... skojar du?
are any viggens still flying anywhere?
There's a single AJS-37 flying for the Swedish Heritage Flight.
I love your videos ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
The lot set me back £22, a BARGAIN... :)
lovely aircraft, abit outdated though but hey thats where JAS39 comes in
so SU crash not a MIG crash
How do I look..😊
Sorry I explain later..
Let let me explain..
..
I'm spiderman..!!
Parker stopped it.., someone need you mother land of America
Ser ut att vara på någon krigsbas.
@spanish111japan I second that. She's gorgeous
Och spaning?!?!?!?!
you could be right.. could be 2005..
Some are, but not in service, but the cost to get them maintained is to high, and the performance of the fighter, it´s a better deal to keep on with the SAAB 39 Erik and Felix variants.
Ye viggen can still today be used. Viggen will be ours F16 and f14 US version. But ye. to high prices. Its sad.
@mef83 Ja, det stämmer Sk 37 Viggen
politics? NO, can't be :)
No, there are not.
that singer should not sing that song
Fantastic jet fighter, terrible music (voice).
Worst cover of this song I have heard, including karaoke versions by drunk people at Golden Hits, Stockholm.
Well sod off, then. This strikes us Swedes right in the heart, for the Viggen (Thunderbolt) is one of the many things we've given the world that we're very proud over.
Joacim Söderholm that's because it was the pilots themselves who were playing. That's also why it's the best cover.
I disagree completly. This clip gives me thrill every morning before my flight..
Shoots arę one of the best.. It’s real a masterpiece of an aviation videos..
