First mod should be a full service front to back. Id also add purchasing a obdeleven to unlock a few more features and also to help diagnose any future or past issues
Shift linkage on the manual transmission models are garbage. Upgrade to solid bushings on the cables as well as the cable bracket. I went with the 034 solid bushings because they are local to me and they flashed my MK7 with a CARB legal flash. I have bolt-ons to augment the flash, but the bushings are money! Solid, positive shifts all day long now. I have a clutch and suspension on the shelf in my garage waiting to go in. But first a 6-speed swap into our MK4 GTI, and a Porsche brake swap while it’s in the air. Thanks for the video.
This is super helpful actually. My mechanic told me how sloppy my shifting is after he did some adjustments to my coilovers. I hadn’t even noticed it until he said something because I’ve gotten so used to it. I’ll have to check out your recommendation though cuz it would be nice to have solid shifts!
@@AaronTheBaron it’s my wife’s MK6. And she complained after driving my MK7. So, I immediately went to work.. I’ll do bushings on the MK4 when I do the 6-speed swap. I’m looking forward to some better cruising RPM on the freeway. Did you flash your MK6, also?
@albertrios5168 that’ll be awesome when you can!! And I sort of had it flashed yeah, it’s tuned through APR so it’s got like no-lift shifting and stuff like that which makes it nice to daily as well as spirit drive
Yes especially if it’s going to be a daily driver. Just check the oil frequently and if it’s older, make sure to get the timing tensioner replaced. The MK6 doesn’t have a whole lot of issues
I agree with a lot of your mods list, but disagree on the rear spoiler. In my opinion, it makes the back look worse. I own an mk6 GTI w/ APR k04 through a dsg, and an mk6R with the manual. Wheels and suspension(as you touched on with the lowering) will have the biggest effect on transforming the exterior of the car while also having the benefit of adding performance depending on what you go with. Wheels that weigh under 20 lbs will make the car feel lighter on it's feet, while allowing it to accelerate and brake better. Unsprung weight that can be removed, is always a plus.
Fair point! Personally I don't think the rear of the mk6 looks as aggressive as the front, and looks a bit awkward. But, to each their own! That's awesome that you have one of each from that generation though! You get the best of both worlds!
It seems like you really dislike the VW R...you've complained about just about every facet. About halfway through I was asking "Why am I listening to someone that hates his car?" I love my VW's and your pink paint job is rocking...so I'll take it. Thanks for posting...and I hope you end up enjoying your dub.
Oh no, I definitely love this car, more than the other half dozen sports cars I've owned so far! I definitely wanted to convey how to *improve* the look and feel of it, not because I hate it but to make it more sporty and aggressive. Hopefully I don't come across as complaining, cuz again I absolutely love this car! It rips when I want it to and gets me to my destination warm and safe when I need it to, in one package!
I drove mine daily on the H&R Super Sport springs for two years and absolutely loved them. They rode like OEM but dropped the car about an inch and a half
You can do an OEM replacement or aftermarket. To upgrade though you can check places like UroTuning or FCPEuro. Both sell pretty reputable parts and you might catch a sale on an aftermarket one!

That’s true those are great! The full service honestly should be any used car you buy
Bros car without the wing would look like a Easter egg
Looool 😂

Hi, I’m looking to buy a golf r 2014 mark, probably won’t do any speed mods so still worth getting the dsg?

It will be a MK7. Will deffo be looking at some mods too. Thanks man

@@AaronTheBaron I concur with a few of your upgrades, especially springs. See you at a VW event! Look for the Opal White 2008 R32!
@EricFosterMedia duuude an R32 😭😭 I hope I do!!
What are good lowering springs for an everyday commuter? Something that looks nice and flush but isn't too aggressively low.
I drove mine daily on the H&R Super Sport springs for two years and absolutely loved them. They rode like OEM but dropped the car about an inch and a half
What’s the wing you have?
What's a good brand for the tensioner to upgrade it?
