HOW EXPENSIVE IS SWITZERLAND?

  • The bare minimum prices you'll find in Switzerland. (Yes this means budget hotels, and a fast food style restaurant) Not a nice meal or nice hotel - those would cost way more.

Thank you fpr this comment. I really hate those videos. 30$ (about 27sfr) is quite a lot for a meal, a pizza margherita is usually about 17-20sfr. The touristic places are just way more expensive than "normal" cities because people will pay it. @@Nina_kindimherzen I was actually pretty content with the prices shown in this video. You are right, they are still not accurate enough, but at least this video is much less inaccurate than so many other "How expensive is Switzerland?" videos. I am pretty sure I've seen the "Schober Café" video as well.
Switzerland is simply a country that, at least if money is an issue, you need to visit low-budget style. You can stay at a hotel and go out to eat at a restaurant in less expensive countries. In more expensive countries, you can try to find a place to sleep that is less expensive than a hotel, and you can go grocery shopping to have something to eat. At least if the reason to travel to another country is that you want to see and experience that country and not in order to get pampered and have everything taken care of for you by hospitality and gastronomy workers.
If I travelled to expensive Norway, I would stay in a crappy room and go buy my food at stores that I am told by locals is one of the least expensive ones. And if I travelled to an inexpensive country, I would spend a holiday that is "more luxurious" if I preferred to not always go on "as low-budget as possibly for country x" holidays.
I've gone on poor people holidays and one or two "somewhat well-off" holidays as a teen and adult, and it's not like I felt an actual difference.

How expensive is parking, what is traffic like in July, and what are fuel costs like? Debating on whether to rent a car or pay for a 4 day travel pass. We love the flexibility of driving and not having to wait for trains, some only coming every hour, there's 5 of us and 2 being my parents who have arthritis so can't walk to far. But if parking is far from sights then that negates the pro for car over train in that area

Common USA is far expensive and worst customer service. I have been to Swiss two times. Hotels are better with less rates. In US everything is ripoff😂

I am Swiss-German. Generally it's fair to say that every cost is double in Switzerland compraed to Germany, starting from a coffee to basic groceries, going to the cinema or accomodations.

Don’t forget about the Swiss vignette that is required on automobiles to use the highways which is another $50 or so.

Switzerland its not that expensive if you take in count that the minimum wage its plus 3500 francs and the average wage its over 5000 😅 but oc it may be for tourist .. living here totally worth it , its one of the safest and most beautiful countries in the world.

Maybe because people watching such videos want to assess whether or not they can afford the trip... before they go there, not after?

Go with another couple. Share a two queen bed room. Stay in Zurich across the street from the airport. The airport has a train station. You must get the travel pass. There are large inexpensive grocery stores in the airport. Don't eat in restaurants. Don't take taxis.
