  • After finally moving all of my things into my new apartment in Kyiv, it's time to go shopping to really make this place home. I start at the Danish IKEA to buy black out blinds and some home furnishings at the JYSK, then it's time to get the biggest TV that I can fit into my Cayenne.

    Still a fan. Since the war started. I have one black out curtain. I'm next to a freeway, and the lights shine in my window at night, so bright, I had to get black out curtains. I should get another one though.

    Myeah those curtains are not to block light but for looks and maybe privacy. Vitrage. The rails are for a double layer of curtains. One light blocking layer and a vitrage layer
    Where I live in Europe we also don't go to shops very early for coffee. We do that mostly at home and those shops function more like chilling in a bar which is why they open later. Just no customers that early at all

    For the cabinet that is too narrow, I would simply buy a board in the same color at the hardware store and cut it to the width of the TV. Then simply place it on top of the cabinet. Should actually look good enough. jm2c

    We're all different I guess. I'm lucky if I make it up in time for a 10am coffee at home. Engagement with street cafe's happens in the afternoons only! Sony TVs still have the best colour quality I tend to find, although I've had reasonable success with Panasonic and JVC too. Not tried LG yet. Maybe next time.

    They have the same type of track hook system for privacy curtains in nursing homes. Housekeepers break the hooks and tear the track from the ceiling alot. I have to fix atleast 2 a week. I can't stand those curtains hooks Lol😅 Cabinet on the side was genius. See if the legs unscrew then it will never be noticeable.

    Thank goodness those people who were displaced in Kharkiv could stay a while in your place there! Losing everything is so massively traumatic for them. Bloody russia! Thank God they are alive though. That is the most crucial thing. I hope they stay safe.
    Best TV stand for me is two columns of stacked up patio bricks (or old books) and 1" thick rough, wide wood slats, kinda like a shelf, resting across brick columns; bench-style. Then if you change TV width you only have to buy new wood. Can store office box files underneath shelf bit. Easy adjustable, looks modern-rustic, completely portable :)
    I love my black-out curtains, I'd use 4 at that wide window, cosy-feel... but yeah, I much prefer wooden poles for curtains.
    Your apartment's taking shape nicely there, Johnny, love the dogs and coffee part...

    I work in Tech Support for a living. A lot of things are user error. The sound bar you have to either make sure you have an output from tv going to your sound bar or make sure the sound bar is on the right input for your tv. ARC means when you turn off your tv the soundbar turns off too. It looks like when you do your tv volume it controls the sound bar too. There may be a setting in the tv to turn that off. Lastly we know that electronic devices once pulled from sitting off the shelf need updating. Hard wiring your internet is best since it’s so close. Nice set up tho! Enjoyed the video.

    • @lentoman
      @lentoman 3 місяці тому

      I think you are referring to CEC (Consumer Electronics Control), which let's you control other devices over HDMI. ARC (Audio Return Channel) is for routing the audio from the TV to a receiver or sound bar, it replaces audio cables with a link over HDMI. Usually both needs to be enabled for everything to work, and specific HDMI ports needs to be used as well.

    Johnny, First, you need to get yourself one of those monitor mounts that you attached so you can move it around to whatever height and when not in use, move it against the wall or window. Secondly, get yourself another pair of blinds. Place those on the inside window track. Those can cover from the wall outwards. The inside ones can cover the middle section! Problem solved! Now get some rest! 😁😁😁😁 NO TV in the window. When there is nothing on TV, you want to look out the window! Blocking the statue might be consider criminal.....In Russia that is! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

    Johnny,
    Hope that your neighbors don’t come and knock on your door that your TV is too loud, I live in an apartment one bedroom, I bought woofers sound bar 55 inch TV, the works, put a movie on. It sounded great in my apartment, but I didn’t realize that it was reverberating Into the upstairs apartments, both sides of my neighbors. Both walls on the side were was filtering noise so I got a knock on my door and it was my neighbors, that they were also hearing the movie upstairs and downstairs neighbors. Just want to give you some heads up i’m the Blind guy over here in Northern California. Good luck Johnny.

      I'm lucky that this apartment I rented, as well as the one I own both have thick walls. I've never heard any of my neighbors before, so I assume they also can't hear me.
      Also I placed the subwoofer on the interior wall so it shakes my kitchen and not the neighbor.

    How much is it to buy an aoartment like this

    • @RuZZkiy-Vanka
      @RuZZkiy-Vanka 3 місяці тому

      The price depends on apartment's actual living space, its condition and location. In that same district where Johnny lives they want 64000 for exactly the same apartment on Приймаченко 9 which is actually 3 buildings away from metro station. 51000 - same living area, but the 1st floor of Khrushchevka.

    • @JohnnyFD
      @JohnnyFD  3 місяці тому +2

      Yeah, it's a terrible logo. The chose the Goose initially so they wouldn't have a standard rectangular, box-shaped logo. But eventually caved in and did it anyways, but kept the goose. 😂
      "The goose is used as counter-balance representing a softer form to the box. In addition, the goose has a historical thread to our brand and is a means to differentiate JYSK from our competitors and other companies with."

      The goose is cause Lars Larsen the founder started out selling only duvets and pillows containing goose feathers, he then expanded and today Jysk have more than 3400 shops in 48 countries he died in 2019

    It is so good to hear from you ! I have been very concerned with how you are doing. Thank you for getting in touch with us. I just want you to know that you are the best at giving us the day to day goings on there. I love all the Slavic countries and wish them peace and a normal living. The lust for money is the drive for most wars. America is just as guilty as Russia. Russia has more invested in it than America. In the end America and Nato will lose. Regardless of the outcome, I wish you love, peace and prosperity. I love you, my friend ! A friend always !
