Cool project Mark! You could add a master power switch to be able to turn it on and off. Secondly, you could add another that would allow you to toggle between automatic turn or a foot-pedal turn. Or even better, if you found the right switch, one switch that controls power, auto turn or foot-pedal turn. Good luck, G.
I built the last version of tool holder which required welding, I have to say it’s an incredible upgrade to anything I have used in the past. Thanks for sharing the plans and awesome product. I’m going to buy a tap wrench from your website as a token of appreciation!
Thanks, this was really not a good display of my woodworking skills but thanks. I will say, my router table is one of a kind. It has a lift top and the homemade router lift stays in the stand. It makes bit changing super easy. The lift screw is set up so that one turn on the crank is 1/16" inch so depth of cut setup is easy. The only thing i would do different is put off white Formica on the top. The Advantec I used is great but it's hard to see if the table is clean and laying wood on sawdust effect the accuracy.
Mark Love this turn table, i think it came out just perfect, Really like the 3 turn locking cams, very simple but a very good idea. I really enjoy your work and videos. Be safe my Friend 😊
Mark, hook up a foot switch and that will give you the off position, and, the off you may need when you are welding to "catch up" if it is turning too fast. You create cool stuff, thanks.😀
Dang, that's slick! I welded short sections of tubing to 5/16" nuts on a crude home made welding positioner that used a variable foot controller. I used my left foot to control the positioner speed and my right foot to control the tig welder, my right hand on the tig torch and a piece of .035 mig wire in my left. I have a Harbor Freight foot control that only provides on and off that might work for your application.
The outfeed table and sled take up a lot of room but if you want to do serious woodworking its a huge plus! I have a video on this: ua-cam.com/video/uWNv5v-6C8Q/v-deo.htmlsi=JZrE975MO3QidSX6
I think you made a typo on the shop page for the AxA version (I haven't checked the others). The price is listed as $1.30 instead of $130 Also I don't see a shipping option for Canada. Is shipping available?
Thanks! I just fixed it. Its' free shipping to the USA but you can send me an email and I'll send to canada with a $10 credit off the extra cost. winkysworkshop@GMX.com
Great weld positioner build Mark...I need one like that for sure! I also do not have a way to control my amps while TIG'n for I use a stick welder conversion build. I have over 40 years welding exp. so I can Pre set my amps for each job with good success for most non critial welding. Got to get a REAL TIG machine before I'm 70 lol!
I have two TIGs. One has a foot pedal but I use the machine without most the time. It a simple machine from VEVOR. Most often the complexity isn't needed.
Hi Winky, I have the same lathe as you. An old South Bend 27-A. You've done better at restoring yours, so far. I really enjoyed your videos of the restoration. Most times when I try parting off, it pulls the cutoff tool under the work and jams. I know I need to replace the gibs to make it more rigid. I have the bronze and just need to do it. Were you having the same problem, and your special parting tool was able to fix it?
If you are using a spring cut-off it probably needs to be stiffer My design leaves a nub but seldom goes under. I usually set the tool maybe .010 higher thank center. It's also related to feed rates vs RPM. Ideally a slower feed rate and higher RPM at the end of cut would totally resolve the issue but there is always a compromise.
@WinkysWorkshop It's going under without the spring cutoff. I need to make new gibs for it, to try increasing rigidity. I was wondering if the flexibility of the spring cut-off prevents it from digging and going under.

Mine’s much cruder than yours. Looks like I need to do something to “keep up with the Joneses”. 😎👍 Nice project. I used a belt drive and rubber washers to isolate the drive motor from the platen. A good controller enclosure would be a great addition.

Nice build. Interesting tools but buying it would add 25% in import tax plus US postage of some 20 - 25 USD, likely more due to weight, plus additional 7 USD for custom handling. Politics decisions are not favouring overseas friendship.

I definitely need speed control.
Very handy to have. I used my rotator a lot more than I ever thought I would do.
And with amperage control or speed it would be amazing.
Thanks ! Your videos never fail to give me projects to ponder on .
Glad I can give you a new project!

Nice project and super nice welds using it, which makes it really satisfying I'm sure.
Thanks, it does work well but I might need a way to increase the speed while welding.
Glad to see you using that Anchor Lube! Great stuff for threading, drilling and cutting

Mark, check your price of the spring cut off tools. $1.35 sounds a bit cheap or is that just the CA tax?
Yeah, I just fixed that, thanks!!!

Belt drive is a very good method. I made one like that.. very crude and temporary though
you can even add a push pedal
I think I need to.
Slick!
Thanks
Why don't you mount a lathe chuck to it?
I think thats overkill, its not driving anything. I was however thinking about a hold down on the center.
I'll take a bxa cut off tool winky when you get some made, just to have one,lol 😂..
I had two but sold them in about 1-hour. Also sold all the AXA too. Unexpected... I'll be making more.
