I wouldn't want to live back then but we could all do with a ride or die priest, a ride or die warrior nun, a ride or die Irishman & a ride or die brother who happens to be a Viking.
The author of the 13 amazing books…Bernard Cornwell based Uhtred on the real Uhtred the Bold. Cornwell is also a descendant of that Uhtred. I’m SO happy you two are really enjoying the show. The books are even better. I’ll keep watching. Your reactions are wonderful!
Absolutely girl, this show really rips your heart out. Because you follow Uhtred and his family and friends story so closely over the entire course of his life, of course we become insanely invested. You're 100% right. I got way too emotional over this show.
TLK is one of my all time favorite shows. When you two are finished, I HIGHLY recommend Black Sails. You will LOVE it. It’s like TLK but in the pirate genre. Like TLK it has historical characters and fictional ones. It’s super gritty, violent and dark.
I love GoT season 1-4, but I agree that while not necessarily a better show, The Last Kingdom plays with my emotions way more. Maybe because we have one obvious main character that we get to see both go through hell and earn respect and glory by his own merit.
GoT tends to take any humane and emotional moment and "subverts" it in some way. TLK doesn't really do that. Young Ragnar won the duel and he raged and wept and then rejoiced with his brother the next day. In GoT, Kjartan would've killed him via some dumb shock value reason and we would never get the emotional fulfillment.
@@jjhh320 Very well said. to me GoT type series excel in shock value and "subverting the expectations". They leave you emotionally distraught and empty.
23:09 the sister might have chosen to leave with uhtred and beocca because even though the fortress is now ragnar's, it was filled with bad memories of being tortured and abused, the home of her enemies. so that's probably why she'd rather leave with them i think
"I hate the way he talks, I hate the way he walks, I hate the way he dresses" 🤣🤣🤣🤣👏👏 That made me laugh so much!
I love that each episode is so packed, but never feels rushed. Ragnar’s moment was pretty heavy.
Yea these episodes are not decompressed like some other shows where it takes time to get at something. They go balls out every time.

I think I would. Slim chances any of us would be born as royalty but I’d try my luck as a warrior.

Can’t can’t go to Valhalla without your sword. Worst torture for a Viking
Such a sad way to go out

I'm so glad you're really enjoying this series! Your friend owes you one for getting her hooked on the show too.
Lmao when Joel laughed after Thyra screamed had me weak 😂

One of my favorite shows of all time. It gets better and better

This show has an honest and warm heart.

Season 3 is where it gets insane
