Fantastic presentation man; the best I have seen on this watch so far. I did buy it yesterday, so why am I still hunting down videos on it? Well isn't that what watch addicts do? Honestly I was kinda luke warm on both previous BB58's, but the minute I saw this one, I thought this might be the one. I don't know what Tudor's marketing department is doing with this "sell" of the taupe color, which it obviously is not, but I suppose their research told them that was a color name that would sell. Obviously we are all curious as to how it will change over time and how hard is the alloy. My AD said Tudor will be giving them a presentation shortly on the maintenance of the 925. he also told me that they claimed it is as hard as stainless steel, but I haven't sen that anywhere else, so take it with a grain of salt.
Thank you so much that really means a lot to me! As fun as the video was to make it still took a lot of time and effort so I'm glad to see fellow watch people enjoying it!! Loooool I thought I was the only one who continued to watch videos on watch I own! Seems like its common amongst horologically minded folks! Yes I was pretty much the same way except the moment I saw the REAL dial color is when I knew I needed to get one. I always find it bizarre when a brand releases press photos of their own watch but they dont represent the dial color accurately at all! But yeah I guess taupe is a nice sounding word lol. Yeah the tarnishing is still a big unanswered question so it would really be interesting to hear what the presentation says about the silver! If you get a chance, I'd love to hear what they in that silver presentation! I'm not too concerned about the tarnishing overall because i feel like if any company out there has the time and resources to create and perfect an proprietary non-tarnishing silver alloy, it would be the likes of Tudor! I just hope that if it does tarnish slightly, that it'll be only a dark tint over the entire case. As for the "hard as steel" claim, I can catogorically say that is not true. For years I've been using plastic calipers to measure up all my watches without even a hint of drama, which is important because i baby all of my watches (maybe a bit too much lol). I was doing the same with the 925, and i set the calipers close to the case to get a good reading of the thickness and then I see a long vertical scratch!!!!! You can actually see it in some of the shots in the video, on the lug at roughly the 1 oclock position. I was absolutely shocked, admittedly the calipers has a relatively fine edge but no where close to being considered sharp and in the end its still plastic. I dont have an issue at all with getting scratches and dings with this case because I think that it kind of adds to the experience of wearing a precious metal, I just wasnt expecting silver to be THIS soft!
@@joeschlicht Oh man I absolutely love the bracelet on the new speedy!! I would have sold my speedy for the new one solely for the bracelet, but I've got too many memories with it 😄 How're you liking it as a whole??
Ngl I'm surprised no one else has done it bc putting it on the bracelet was pretty much the first thing I wanted to do since it's release! Now I really want Tudor to a silver bracelet next year😁
Thank you so much, means a lot to me! I saw the 925 and I had so many questions about how it compared to a steel BB58 so then I figured others would have the same questions!😁
I'm hoping this new journey ends up somewhere pretty awesome!! Thank you so much that means so much to me! These videos really do take a long time to make so I'm really happy that you enjoyed it👍👍 I'm still looking to improve my editing skills so hopefully you stick around!!
Easily the best video on the 925 I’ve seen online with content no one else has covered. Also the best comparison with the 58 Blue. Such beautiful, close up camera work with so many crisp and clean visuals highlighting the the finer points of each watch.
Oh wow your words mean so much to me! Yeah in general a lot of reviews end up skipping over really important aspects of a watch so I figured if i wanted to know certain bits of info then i'm sure others will want to know too! I'm so happy that you're enjoying every part of the video bc as fun as it was to film the watch, it still took a whole lot of planning and effort! Thankfully the 925 looks great from every angle which did make my life easier😂
Yesssss the moment I heard that the 925 wasn't going to be offered on a bracelet, I became so curious and I figured many others would be too😄 Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed the video👍👍
Thanks for a thorough comparison and high quality video production! I have a blue BB58, and my 925 is due to arrive within a few days, and this made the wait even more unbearable! The color is beautiful, and the matte, slightly warm grey look definitely suits this brilliantly sized watch! The BB58 size and case profile is such a versatile one, with the exposed crown and long, sleek lugs, and the fully brushed sides suits it very well indeed.
Thank you so much! Wow the videos are fun to make they still take a huge amount of time so I'm glad that you found it enjoyable👍 Oh man this is a perfect sneak preview for you then😂 hopefully the wait isn't too much longer bc you're in for a treat when you finally see it and feel the 925 in person it still shocks me how different it is compared to the blue bay! For a watch like the 925 I think they got it the colors and finishes spot on! Now all I'm waiting for is a full silver bracelet 😁😁 let me know what you think about it if you get a chance!!!
Yes! It was the first thing i wanted to do after finding out that the 925 didnt come on a bracelet! Now i'm really hoping they release a full silver bracelet next year😁
Oh wow thank you so much that means so much to me!! I'm so happy you enjoyed it 😁😁 it was a really fun video to make but still a lot of extra work to get ready from start to finish in just over 2 days instead of the normal 7 days!
I had a lot of fun making it, I got to honeymoon with the 925 even more😂 Yes at first I was thinking of doing a stand alone video of the 925, but it has so many nuances that I can only explain clearly when referencing a steel BB58. I'm still amazed at how huge of a difference all the little changes made to the wearing experience!
Without doubt the best, most informative & most relevant 925 review out there. I've now "registered my interest" to purchase...the 925 hasn't hit the stores yet in the UK.
Thank you so much, I really appreciate it! Yeah I tried my best to include as many random but important details about the watch bc for me its the little details that can make a watch great! Ah yes that's awesome! So excited for you to feel it in person and to buy it because as subtle as the changes are, it really does add up to a completely different experience!
@@thewatchidiot I have one question tho...the 925 case is taller & heavier. Does it feel top-heavy? especially with a nylon strap? Love the M3 btw. Best 35mm cam ever made. I like the earlier models & have a 50's IIIf R/D delayed action + 5cm f3.5 collapsible Elmar.
Yes technically it is a little thicker and heavier but honestly it feels exactly the same as a steel watch when it's on my wrist for the entire day. The only time I notice anything is when you pick it up and its subtly heavier which reminds you that you've got a silver watch (love it when this happens 😁) I haven't tried it on a lighter perlon strap yet but I'm sure it'll be roughly the same. You're only the second person who's noticed the M3! But yeah I absolutely love it although I haven't been able to go out and use it for a while now. But it's still so much fun to feel how incredibly solid the shutter button and film advance lever are even when I'm just sitting around at my desk. Leicas from back in the day are truly engineering feats And oh man you've got a great set up! I've been wanting to get a collapsible lens for a while now bc the construction is just so neat! Although I've had to hold off on falling to deep in the Leica rabbit hole bc I don't think my bank account could handle going deep on both watches and leicas very well 😂😂
@@thewatchidiot If your hankering for a collapsible lens, don't get the 2.8 Elmar..they all suffer from haze actually in the coatings. The cheaper f3.5 version is the one to go for...unless you want to trade in a watch for a collapsible Summicron :( Thanks for your input on the 925 wearability. Must say I'm not a Tudor guy but the silver edition is different. What I love about the watch is the understated aesthetic..it's not trying to impress. Quite a contradiction really...serious tool watch looks but not so hard wearing precious metal & a premium price. The exhibition Back with sparsley decorated movement is another contradiction, yet the movement is wholly in keeping with the tool watch vibe & the saphire Back a welcome premium feature. Keep up the good work!
@@robdove8341 Ah ok, I just checked them out and the 3.5 Elmars are pretty reasonably priced! I think that'll scratch the itch. I'm relatively new to the world of leica so I appreciate you're insights and help!😁 Sure thing, I'm here to help! I love talking about watches so going into detail about a watch is fun for me and if it means helping a fellow watch guy out then thats even better! You're thoughts are exactly why I love the 925 and the sapphire caseback so much as well. If this had been a fully brushed steel watch with this dial for cheaper i would love it but it would run the risk of becoming "just another watch." However, since its silver it offers a completely unique experience and offers a future of unknowns for better or for worse! This is one of the very few watches I've bought recently that is already close to reaching keeper status. If you get a chance, let me know what you think of it when you see it in person/buy it!
Great video! I've sold the original 58 because it was too vintagey and the polished sides got scratched very easy. This 925 solves all these problems and I'm looking forward to try one but will wait for a year to see if the case tarnishes over time.
Thanks so much!! Yes I'm pretty much set on selling my Blue Bay mostly due to the polished sides too and the fact that it pretty much won't ever get as much wrist time as the 925, given how close to perfection the 925 is. Yeah the tarnishing is a big question however I trust tudor's proprietary silver alloy to eliminate or nearly eliminate tarnishing! That being said I think it'll tarnish a touch down the line and hopefully it's just an even and subtle dark hue over the case which would look cool and make professional tarnish removal that much easier
Yeah it would have been so cool if the 925 had a full silver option! It looks so good with the grey dial Unfortunately I can't take advantage of the bracelet on my blue bay bc it somehow is the only bracelet I've ever owned that simply doesn't fit right! So I guess that got me used to wearing the BB58 without the bracelet 😂
Great review! I love that you put the 925 on a bracelet! I think the original 58 looks great but I’m not really a fan of the gilt hands and indeces so the 925 is almost my ideal BB configuration.
Thank you so much, im glad you enjoyed it!! The moment I heard about the 925 not coming on a bracelet I knew putting it on the bracelet would be one of the first things I would do😂 Yeah I agree I'm not a fan of all the gold on the original and I happen to absolutely love grey and brushed surfaces so it was a perfect fit for me!
That's awesome congratulations!!! You're definitely in for a treat when you get it it's sooooo incredible in person. I still can't get over how great the brushing looks and how bright silver is😁😁
Oh wow thank you so much that means so much to me! It's fun making these videos but still a lot of work so I'm glad you enjoyed it👍 Yes gotta keep my foot on the gas and hope for the best! 😁
Great vid. Good to hear about Tysons Corner. Moved from NoVa 10 years ago and I expect much has changed - except that traffic at Tysons is still a zoo! I tried to fit my BB 58 Silver 925 on an OEM bracelet and the lug holes didn't align. Curious. My 925 came on the NATO and the lug holes seem to be very close to the tops of the lugs (away from the back of the watch. Did you have problems mounting the bracelet to the watch? Just curious. Good vid. Keep at it!
Great video man! You hit a lot of details no one else bothers with like the crystal, bezel grip, and bezel action. Do you think they’ll ever make a silver bracelet?
Thanks so much!! Yeah I always look for those details in reviews but never found them so I figured I'd put in those details! Happy to hear that you found those details helpful 👍 Hmmmm I realllllly want them to make a silver bracelet! However, it all comes down to how successful the 925 is and how overwhelming the demand is for the silver bracelet. It would definitely be an expensive risk for tudor to make silver bracelets but I think that can add a whole new dimension to the watch!
I very recently bought the Black Bay 58 Navy Blue on steel bracelet to compliment a range of predominantly black-dialled watches in my collection that include the classic Rolex Submariner Date 16610 that I've owned for 19 yrs. The Tudor is a super, very well-made luxury timepiece and I appreciate its rather understated blue dial and bezel compared to the 'bling-blue' ceramic of my Omega Seamaster 300. Like-for-like think of the Blue 58 as a more modern take on its original black and gilt sibling. The blue really pops in daylight or in well-lit rooms and a pleasure to wear. Although not quite up there with the Rolex in the absolute quality stakes - why should it be when barely 40% of the steel Sub's price - go to an AD and try one on. COSC certified movement, 70hrs power reserve and great lume. You won't be disappointed. Not so keen on the potential patina you will get on 925 silver, or the mismatch between having to have a steel bracelet with silver case. If like a grey/taupe dial let's persuade Tudor to make it in steel version.
And thank you for those kind words they mean a lot to me!! Looks like we're in the same boat! I'm soooooooo excited for you to get your 925 it's shocking how much better it is in person and how different the overall look and feel is compared to the Blue! Let me know what you think of it when you get it if you get a chance! 😁
Great review mate. I like your style. I’m really liking this version. I think what would make this more special is having their shield logo applied in silver. Then it gives it more of an air of luxury, especially at that price point. Cheers M
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Wow I never thought about it having an applied logo but that really would have been a great detail to more clearly mark this as a precious metal watch. And it would have looked awesome too! Hopefully they add the applied logo in addition to making a silver bracelet👍👍
I'm curious if the silver will tarnish, particularly if the watch is part of a rotation and not worn everyday. I've seen vague statements that Tudor treated it in some way to minimize that, but I'd like to see a 6 month update to see how the finish is holding up.
Yeah I wonder how much it'll tarnish too hopefully tudor is right about it not tarnishing at all. However if it does tarnish hopefully it's subtle and only a dark hue over the watch Yeah that's a great idea I'll definitely do an update video and my wearing habits are pretty much in line with what you said too. A week is pretty much the longest any one watch stays on my wrist in one go
@@thewatchidiot As far as I am aware this is the first watch for many years made from sterling silver and one wonders why it has not previously been used in cases . Rolex/Tudor have their own foundry, and therefore could introduce an additive to the silver to eliminate oxidation (similar to stainless steel) but if it is 925 pure, then there is going to be very little of the additive in the mix. hmmm
Yeah the novelty of using silver is pretty awesome! Definitely a value proposition for those who want something a bit different like myself. And as far as I can tell, most the other 7.5% in regular 925 silver is made up of copper. But on the underside of the lug "Ag925/Al" is inscribed so seems like Tudor cracked the code by adding mostly aluminum. Either that or a guy named Al came up with the alloy 😂😂
It was fun making it bc I was curious about comparing them for myself😄 Welcome to the channel! Yeah I saw a video mentioning that too. So as far as back play goes I'd say (as far as I can tell) that it's not really the normal sort of back play that we think about in terms of it jiggling around in place. What I think is happening in the other cases, might come down to this particular bezel requiring some additional force to turn (compared to the steel version). That can cause the user to sometimes overshoot the mark, making them have to rotate it back into it's spot making it seem like back play. This quirk is exacerbated by the fact that 60 click bezels have double the space to move in between each click. Bc other than that, which does happen on occasion, my bezel is absolutely rock solid! (admittedly with relatively different feel compared to the steel version)
@@thewatchidiot thank you for the thoughtful and detailed response. Have paid my deposit on this for delivery in May, so just doing some due diligence. Smitten so far.
No problem at all I could talk about this watch for hours it's that good! Awesome congratulations!! I'm excited for you to get it bc its great in pics and video but it manages to be even better in person. Especially when the dial/bezel color changes alongside all the brushed surfaces!
Amazing video and comparison, thank you. Of course, the tarnishing situation adds a new dimension here. Do you think you would still have purchased it if you knew it was going to tarnish so much?
Thank you so much! So I actually knew that it would tarnish a least a little before purchasing the watch despite the claims of it not tarnishing at all. In a way I was kind of excited to see what the tarnish will end up looking like! But I wasnt expecting it to start tarnishing within a month. I thought that the new alloy would at least hold off the tarnish of slow it down a lot for around a year. But I'm still ok with it now and I'm excited to see what it'll end up looking like by the end of the summer and then onwards from there!
Excellent video. I'm in Northern VA as well, and I just happen to be looking at adding the 925 to diver collection in the Tudor section of the box alongside my beloved LHD in the slot once occupied by the BB Bronze slate dial I sold off last year. If I do follow through, I'll reach out to Dimitri at L&B, mention your name and UA-cam shout out to him, and see if he has one in stock for me to try out.
Thank you so much! and awesome to meet local watch nuts here! Yes I'm at a similar stage as you my go to is my regular Pelagos and the Blue Bay will be sold off soon bc the 925 has pretty much taken over! The dial of the Slate dial bronze is incredible, i wish Tudor would utilize the numerals and color in more watches. I really do appreciate that and yes please do reach out to Dimitri! He's such an awesome guy and its so nice talking watches with him too. Fingers crossed that he's got one for you to try out bc its a pretty awesome watch!
@@thewatchidiot Turns out the only one they received is the one you bought, if I understood the woman there correctly (Dimitri was not there when I called today). Looks like I’ll have to call some other ADs. Also, I think I may go for the NATO strap version.
Ah gotcha, so I'd give it another go to try and speak to Dimitri bc information can change quickly for sure. If you'd like, you can dm me on Instagram @the.watch.idiot or email me at thewatchidiot@gmail.com and we can get into a little more detail on what we can do next to get you a good look at the 925!
Thank you so much that really does mean a lot to me!! I'm glad you enjoyed the video and fingers crossed that a whole lot more people the same way you do and subscribe! 😁
Completely agree. I actually think they played it a little safe by not offering it. I recon they will in a few years after they grow the brand equity a bit more.
Yeah very true hopefully the 925 is a big success so that they'll feel more comfortable spending the extra money to make a bracelet. I don't usually buy oem bracelets after the fact but this one would definitely worth it to feel the extra weight and to see more of that gorgeous brushing
Yeah I think that could have been a viable option or at least if they offer silver endlinks to those who want it. Granted the look and finish of silver is pretty different but I still think it would be awesome!
Awesome thank you so much!! I could have talked about the two watches for hours so I'm glad that I managed to make it cohesive 😂 Welcome to the channel!!
Yeah that's definitely still the biggest question I still have now that I've got it on wrist. However, I trust tudor to come up with some sort of black magic alloy that almost completely gets rid of tarnishing! At this point I'm hoping that if it does tarnish that it'll just result in a overall darker hue for the watch but only time will tell 🤞🤞
Ha I knew that was a leica m3 in the background at the beginning. Great camera. Had one once. Awesome video, best one yet on the 925. Can't wait to get mine. Waiting for the AD call.
I was waiting for the day someone would spot the M3, you're the first! Although I havent been able to use it very much lately, it's an absolute joy feeling the film advance lever and feeling/hearing the shutter! And thank you so much! Your words mean a lot to me and I'm glad you enjoyed the video😀 Nice, congrats in advance because its an awesome watch that's even better once you see it in person!
@@thewatchidiot They don't make them like that anymore. I had an M6, M7, M3, R7, SL and a M9p. Nothing like leica. You should get out with that M3 though. Yes I can't wait to get the watch in hand. Cheers, have a good one
Oh man that's an awesome set of leicas to own! And you're right nothing quite like a leica, still amazes me to this day how rock solid the M3 feels after all these decades. Super excited for you, I'm sure you'll have a great summer with the 925!
Lool I understand I had to stop myself from falling too deep into the Leica rabbit hole bc I knew it would be financially ruinous alongside my watch obsession 😂
So... they sort of fixed the crown tube length exposure by making the crown thicker? =) I think Tudor sells an incomplete product. They should have figured a way to make a matching bracelet. Thank you for the comparison video and enjoy your Tudor (whichever will survive into your collection)!
Hmmm yeah I suppose so! I don't have much experience with the 41mm Black Bays that had the weird crown tube other than the month I owned the BB GMT before returning it. Yeah while I can understand Tudor not wanting to take a risk on making the silver bracelet and charging way more, I really do think they should release a silver bracelet next year bc it would be soooo cool and there seems to be good support for it. And sure thing! Being able to compare the two in person was helpful to me so I figured it would be helpful to others too! (So far the blue bay seems to be on its way out😬)
Yeah the dial color in person is really awesome. I'm so happy that its a full on grey with a touch of warmth instead of a full on taupe/brown. As nice as the bracelet is I've worn my Blue Bay 58 without the bracelet 99% of the time! the 58s look amazing on natos and leather straps for sure 👍!
Love your videos and analysis. I went in to buy a BB58 - it fits my wrist so well, but ended up not buying it because of many of the things you mentioned in your BB58 blue love/hate video - I've never seen anyone give anything other than gushing praise. Thank you for that ballance. With the silver version, do you notice much of a difference with the height of the case back, as it is ~1.0mm thicker? curious as to what you think in the feel of the watch. I think you made the right choice! It is more unique and special than the blue. Best two videos I've seen of these watches.
Thank you so much, that means a lot to me! While it was fun making the video it did take a huge amount of time and effort to push it out in less than 3 days so I appreciate the positive feedback! Ah ok, yeah the BB58 is great but definitely not without its flaws! What made you decide against getting it after seeing it? As for the silver version and the extra thickness, I don't feel any difference whatsoever it feels the same on my wrist. However, visually the brushed case sides look thicker than the polished steel case sides (even tho they're identical). But that's solely down to the fact that the polished sides reflect the wrist so it "looks" thinner. Either way I would choose brushed sides every time because it just looks incredible! Yeah after having the 925 for a few days I definitely feel like I made the right choice too! Time will tell how long the honeymoon period lasts and if any issues pop up but at this point I'm not sure when I would choose to wear the Blue Bay over this one! I think the Blue Bay might be sold off at some point.
@@thewatchidiot Answer Why did I not get the BB58 (either gilt or blue)? Lot of it you covered in your vid. It is a wonderful size, but for the price it wasn’t special. I’ve been wearing blue divers for ~30 years, so that’s not new for me. The slab sided polished case lacked imagination. I lean towards brushed finishes, unless the polishing plays with light - and a polished slab side doesn’t do that. I did like the crystal, size, and fit. I ended up with an Oris aquis carysfort reef gmt. That blue dial is gorgeous, the GMT track on it gives it depth and texture, and with the orange strap (and orange GMT markings), the colors on the opposite side of the color wheel play off each other nicely. The brand’s history (older than Tudor or Rolex), support of the watch community, independence, and of course social conscious and environmental support help too. Its just a lot more fun to wear than the BB58 (although this colorway only comes in the large size, so its chunky). The hands/indices on the Oris have curvature/angles that let it play with light in ways the BB58 doesn’t - same for dial. Even the clasp is innovative. Its not trying to recreate the past, it’s a modern dive watch. It’s a playful, original design. But hey, the BB58 925 is special (and brushed) and may be enough to push me over the brink. P.S. everything I've seen in silver is engraved - Tudor has the perfect blank case back for engraving and they swap that out for a thick sapphire case back in the silver version? WTF? :-)
@@charleshailey4461 Ah yeah we're on the same page about the blue bay 58 then! For me I usually always go for black dial divers so the blue bay actually was a bit of a new experience for me! However, like you said it it lacks that special wow factor that I always look for in a watch. Or at least the wow factor wore off quickly. Thats a big reason why I love the aquis. It's look and design are purely that of an Aquis, nothing else! Not to mention all their dial variations are incredible. (All this talk about the oris is really making me want to crawl through chrono24 now looool) 925 on the other hand, I was expecting it to be good because I love having as many brushed surfaces as possible (unless polishing serves a purpose like you said). But I didnt expect it to be THIS good and i really do think that this can earn keeper status pretty soon! The finish of the brushing is incredible its actually very similar to the brushed finish found on steel Omegas so that was a very nice surprise. I look at it as an every day version of my Pelagos. Its weird to say but the 925 reminds me MUCH more of the pelagos than the blue bay for sure It would have been cool to have an option for a silver caseback for sure! It would have been cool to get the extra weight that would come from it to further take in the precious metal experience
@@thewatchidiot I love how your dimensions have userful and overlooked info like dial width and midcase thicknes. "they say" that this watch is heavier than the original BB58. Happen to have the weights (case only) of these two watches? How much heavier is the silver?
@@charleshailey4461 Dial width and midcase thickness are probably the two most important dimensions when it comes to understanding how a watch wears so I'm glad you appreciate it!! Yes I go over it at 5:35 but theres only an 11 gram difference between the two (65g for steel and 76g for silver). You can tell that the 925 is more dense when you pick it up which is pretty nice bc its a subtle reminder that you've got something different and special. However, when its on wrist I barely notice the weight difference which is actually nice because it wears well on any strap and doesnt have a top heavy feel at all!
Its a nato strap that i bought from Blu Shark Straps! I think the color is mocha or something coffee related lol. Actually if you look up "how to remove spring bars from watch" you'll get a lot of great videos showing you how to remove straps like the brown strap on the 925👍!
Thanks for an incredibly good review. I love the brushed finish and the bright color of silver. I have all my watches on rubber or nato = This is a watch for me :)
Thanks so much, that really means a lot to me!! I'm glad you enjoyed it😁 I still can't get over how much I love the brushed sides on the 925 and how big of a difference it makes compared to my blue bay. And I'm just like you 99% of the time my watches are on rubber straps and natos and the 925 looks soooooooo good on natos especially!
A great comparison, thank you. Like you I have the Pelagos that has the tool watch look. I'm on the fence on the 925, I like it yes, but I think I prefer the aesthetic of the steel version for the polished sides. If I was to make a Tudor tool watch purchase I'd still go for the Pelagos I think as the bracelet is brilliant. It will be interesting to see how the silver ages over time on the 925.
Nice to hear from a fellow Pelagos owner! Yes for sure between the 925 and the Pelagos I'd choose the Pelagos all day! However for me I like wearing smaller watches as well and as incredible as the Pelagos is it's not very versatile. So the 925 fills in the gap of having a small tudor tool watch in a way it's the closest thing we have to a 39mm Pelagos even tho at the same time it's also the furthest thing from the Pelagos!
@@thewatchidiot I will do, I need to check out that taupe dial and bezel in real life as well. Not sure which strap would work best though, usually (not always) I go for a bracelet that I can swap out later if needed but this is not an option currently.
Yes absolutely, the color is pretty much fully grey! Yeah I'm the same when it comes to bracelets but in this case I wanted the fabric strap but the first 925 to come in was on the leather strap so I went for that. Also just a heads up I read that the fabric strap tends to be on the smaller side. I've tried the fabric strap on the Black Bay Steel before and I remember it was slightly tight on my 7.5 inch wrist. Not sure how different it'll be as a 20mm strap. Either way it all comes down to what it's like in real life!
Thank you so much! And I've been following you on instagram for a long time, you've got some great photos!! Great to see you here and just subbed to you 👍👍
Nice job! I’m intrigued by the 925 and want to compare it to the Blue, so this is perfect. If I buy, it will be not far from you, at Tiny Jewel Box in downtown DC.
Awesome I'm glad I was able to help! When i brought home the 925 the first thing I did was compare it to the blue bay and it was useful to me so i figured others would find it useful too👍 Ah very nice, Tiny Jewel Box is an awesome place, and it's cool to hear from someone from the area! Do you by chance go to DC Red Bar events?
Red bar is a group that puts together watch meetups! Obviously hasn't happened in a while lol but they're really good fun just talking to a whole bunch of watch guys and seeing some awesome watches! Since you're in the area, you should definitely check them out and come to one once we start heading towards normalcy 👍
Oh man I could talk about this topic or just the Pelagos for HOURS😂😂 I'm planning to do a video on this comparison soon once I get to experience the 925 a little longer However, if you haven't seen the watches in person/worn them I would definitely recommend doing so bc the Black Bays wear VERY differently compared to the Pelagos given the size, like you said, and also bc of the Pelagos being titanium. I've owned my black dial Pelagos for about 3.5 years and it's one of the very few watches that reached keeper status. It's truly unlike any watch that's out there bc it looks brutally efficient yet still managing to be beautifully executed. However, it's not the most versatile watch for sure given it's look and size, which is where the advantages of the Black bay 58 starts. It's a much more "normal watch" but the quality is still very apparent and it wears incredibly well on wrist If you have any more specific questions about either watch please let me know bc I absolutely LOVE talking about these two watches!!
Sure thing! Yeah ive been hearing the same on the news and some of my relatives in London😬 hopefully all is well with you👍 I've only frivolously ventured into stores a few times and each one of those times was to go to my AD 😂😂
@@thewatchidiot so I got the Pelagos. It’s great and is more substantial than I expected. The only down side for me is that I have to wear it quite loose for my liking as it’s on the smallest setting, but if I take the link out I have to have it on the dynamic setting and it’s still a bit tight. Really frustrating as I’d like to actually get some use out of the excellent clasp.
Nice congratulations!!! Oh man that's rough that you're in between two links it's definitely no fun. I'm in between two links on my Blue Bay 58 so I actually can't wear the bracelet at all. But either way I hope it's not too loose for your linking bc the bracelet is an awesome part of the experience especially bc it's so light. I wish brands would include half links for every watch bc it would solve a whole lot of problems for a lot of people! If the fit is ok I think you'll really enjoy it I still love wearing mine as it's probably my favorite watch! Either way congratulations again and let me know how you get on with it!
I think BB58's are designed for leather or NATO straps. They have so much more character without a bracelet. This is my first NATO watch and I love it. Also - with the 925 -the silver will change colour over time, meaning the bracelet will need to be replaced to match it.
Yeah i totally agree with you! I'm not able to wear the bracelet on the Blue Bay due to sizing quirks but honestly i didnt miss it for a second! I absolutely love these on natos and suede straps. Yeah fingers crossed the case doesnt tarnish very much and that Tudor cracked the code! However, if it does tarnish im just hoping that it's a subtle dark tint over the watch bc that could actually look pretty cool!
Interesting point about the crystal. My original BB58 black has the same domed crystal as the 925, so similar distortion of the hour markers. I wonder if anyone has done a comparison between the variants?
Oh wow I didn't know that the original had the same domed crystal as the 925! Maybe they chose the boxier crystal for the blue bay bc it's supposed to be a modern ish watch vs more vintage? Yeah I haven't seen any comparisons between the original and the 925 either
Wow!! Awesome content and presentation!!! And thank you!! for putting a bracelet on it. Ive always wanted the OG black BB58, but those riveted just held me back. But when I saw the 925 in real life, I just pulled the trigger on this baby last month haha. Just wondering how is your experience with this baby so far? Is there any signs of tarnishing?
Thank you so much that means a lot to me!! Yes I'm surprised more people haven't tried it on the bracelet since it was the first thought that came to my mind when I saw the 925 didn't come on a silver bracelet! It would be so awesome if Tudor released a silver bracelet at some point. Congrats on the 925 I'm glad you're enjoying it bc it's an incredible watch! I absolutely love mine it's got me to the point where I'm ready to sell the Blue Bay 58 actually. I love that it's fully brushed and that the extra weight of silver is only just enough to let me know that it's not steel lol. As far as tarnishing goes there's nothing yet. I do trust that Tudor managed to perfect the new silver alloy to eliminate or nearly eliminate tarnishing. If it does tarnish hopefully it's just a subtle dark hue. Has yours started to tarnish?
Yea!, but after seeing it on bracelet, I prefer it on leather strap haha, since its silver, I'm gonna baby this piece and only going to ware it on special occasions. But as nice as it sounds, a silver bracelet should be quite susceptible to scratches too 🤔 Ah! Nice to know that it has not tarnish. I'm actually on a wait list at the moment lol. Should be arriving in 3months time. I'm partly interested to see how it tarnishes, I have some silver jewellery which tarnish quite nicely. And can be cleaned to look like new with just toothpaste. But of course, no toothpaste will be going anywhere near my Tudor lol. Well, Will see when the watch arrives, as I live in a tropical climate, it might tarnish faster😬
Yeah it does look great on the leather strap it comes on! Definitely a strong but soft strap which is nice Yeah that'll be interesting to see how your 925 takes on the tarnishing in your climate! Also I didn't know about toothpaste being used for polished although that does make sense the more I think about it 😂 if you get a chance, let me know what you think of it when you get it!
Tudor for me is like Grand Seiko, because there is always one thing holding me back. IMHO the bracelets and straps of Tudor do not befit the quality of the piece itself. I know they can be easily replaced, but the idea of purchasing something I will almost immediately modify just doesn't sit well. They could easily charge another $300 to $500, greatly improve the strap/bracelet, and still keep it within the price point and features that would not upset the "mother ship".
Yeah and on top of that bracelets from both Tudor and GS need only a little bit of tweaking which should make it easier for them to make a glorious bracelet! And yeah I totally agree I definitely wouldn't have bought the Blue Bay in the bracelet if the sizing issues were more apparent at the start. Thankfully, the Blue looks awesome on natos and the 925 doesn't have a bracelet 😂 (at least no bracelet yet hopefully a silver bracelet is released 🤞🤞
Thanks for the great review... seems you're a nato strap guy... does Tudor offer a metal bracelet for the 925.?? Seems like its either leather buckle or a Nato style strap. So what do you think best?
loool yes I've got a thing for natos for sure😄 Unfortunately, there arent any options for bracelets for the 925 although I really hope they offer on next year because it seems like a lot of people are open to the idea including myself! So being a nato guy I requested the 925 with the nato style fabric strap but the first one available was on the leather strap which I ended up getting. I'm usually not a huge fan of this sort of dark leather strap but i must say it works well with the watch and its pretty soft!
They would be daft to offer it on a steel bracelet. The steel is harder than 925 silver and will wear into the silver quickly. Only sensible option would be for them to produce a steel bracelet with 925 silver end links.
So I was talking about a fully silver bracelet! It would be awesome to feel the extra heft without paying 5 figures for something with a gold bracelet. And seeing more of the silver sheen/hue would always be welcome 👍
Both are awesome watches for sure albiet quite different! I love both my 925 and my Pelagos so I can definitely appreciate you deciding between the two. Which watch are you leaning towards?
I love this strap my 925 lives on it! Here's a link: amzn.to/3hIzMSc Btw, this is an affiliate link, it doesnt cost you a penny more but i might be paid a small (very small lol) commission on it, which will go back into the channel👍
oh man with silver its just about impossible bc of how soft it is as a metal. Even using a full on set of spring bar pliers will risk scratching the lugs Also I have heard that steel can react with silver when sweat comes into contact with them. I cant remember the exact term they used for it so I guess you can look it up but just something to keep in mind before putting a bracelet on the 925. That being said I kept my 925 on the bracelet for like 10 mins and my 925 has been tarnishing the same way as many other 925s have been tarnishing so take from that what you will!
Oh whoa I didn't know that! Thanks for letting me know! Hopefully this is a sign that Tudor is warming up to using display case backs on more watches 😀
Interesting review but the fact that you had the bezel 1 notch misaligned throughout the whole video really got on my nerves UNLESS this watch had a bezel alignment issue which I can understand since my Rolex and Breitling also had them. Cheers/
That's actually a pretty awesome idea, it really would be the best of both worlds in that the 925 can be worn on a bracelet without being damaged and also it would cost much less than a full silver bracelet (which would also be awesome) Oh man i would totally be down for that! Hopefully Tudor is reading this comment thread and taking action👍👍
Oh wow didn't know that! I appreciate the heads up and good to know that Tudor is hopefully going to start using exhibition case back on more of their non tool watch watches
Yeah they're pretty different watches actually but I still love my blue bay for different reasons! Thankfully they can coexist in the same collection (at least for now😬)
Oh man that's rough I wish I knew of an AD that I could refer you to! If you haven't already done so, I would try reaching out to ADs that are a bit out of the way in less populated areas. Sometimes they'll be able to get you one quicker. However there are occasionally some 925s that show up on Chrono24 that aren't asking much above sticker (last I checked there was one that was sticker but of course you'd have to deal with shipping and import duties)
Since Tudor made BB 58 , 39 mm into whole bronze, and why not make one 925 version of BB 58, 39 mm whole sterling 925 silver that make beautiful pairs.... Waiting.
If you put a steel bracelet on it the steel will scratch the silver where they meet. I would be so down for the silver bracelet to wear on my other hand as an actual bracelet lol!
Yes thats for sure! I would have loved to keep the bracelet on there for longer but I didnt want to damage the case. A silver bracelet would be absolutely amazing! Cant imagine how amazing it would be to see more of that silver shine and feeling the extra weight!
I doubt you will be taking this one into salt water. It will in reality only be worn as a dress watch as the risk of corrosion will be too great. Thanks for a great review.
That's for sure! If im going to be doing anything potentially risky I've got my Citizen and SKXs to power through it! The 925 is definitely much more of a casual easy living watch and i love it for it😂 And thank you so much, I'm glad you enjoyed the video!!
Yeah i really wish they released one bc now I really want to know what a full silver bracelet would look and feel like! I can understand that Tudor might not have wanted to spend that much extra money on whats already a risky watch initially but since there now seems to be a solid demand for it they should definitely give it a go asap!
Very Nice video. I got my BB58 silver last week, and always curious to know what will it look like on a SS bracelet. You did it for me! Nice. But like you said, silver is more soft than steel, using a steel spring bar holding a SS bracelet long time may damage your case.
Awesome congratulations!! Yeah I figured if I was so curious about seeing it on the bracelet that others would be too! Yes, I dont want to take a chance on damaging and scratching the watch so best not to keep it on the bracelet but I really do hop that Tudor releases a silver bracelet for it soon! It would definitely be a cool experience 😀
Thanks so much!! Yes definitely more to come👍👍 The spring bars are removable so you can put on any strap you'd like! However, my black bays might as well have been permanent bars bc I can't remember the last time I wore them on something other than a nato😂
@@thewatchidiot same for me. I feel much as this watch will be a massive massive hit, they missed a big chance to put permanent spring bars. A throwback to the mil sub era where functionality trumps aesthetics
Yeah I'm hoping it's a huge hit and enough people ask for a full silver bracelet bc that would be so incredibly cool! Hopefully whatever watch comes out of their new marine nationale partnership will have permanent bars. If not for a watch fully connected to the military then there will never be a better chance!
looool you're not crazy it does look like its a bit bigger! However, that only comes down to the fact that polished surfaces reflect the background much more which leads to those surfaces almost "disappearing" whereas brushed and matte surfaces stand out from the background and consequently visually look more prominent. (one of the main ways how seiko manages to magically make their big cases look and feel so small!) In the same vein the 925 case visually looks ever so slightly bigger but these visual differences are only apparent when you have both right next to each other. In daily use, the 925 wears exactly like a BB58 in steel Just to be sure i measured both crowns with my calipers again and theyre identical ay 6.7mm x 3mm!
@@thewatchidiot Oh cheers for that. Funnily enough I like the "look" of the 925's crown more as it puts me in mind of the old no crown guards subs of yore. Hmm might have to put myself on a list somewhere...
@@williambowden4192 Sure thing, and yeah those original subs had some hefty crowns for sure so the 925 got it right! Also another unusual thing about the 925's crown is that it is much grippier than the crown of the Blue Bay. The winding on these movements are relatively stiff so sometimes my fingers get tired winding up the Blue bay bc my fingers sometimes slip. The 925 on the other hand is an absolute breeze which is so nice! Yes definitely put yourself on a list bc it really is a special watch that gets even better in the metal!
Yeah I agree, as much as I love the 925 I wouldnt want to take it into any super active or situations where it could take a hit. I know that i would make it through those situations but I wouldnt want to see a giant ding in the beautiful brushed case!!! For those situations I've got my SKXs😀
Looool sometimes I want to unsubscribe too😂😂 But same here that's what's going to potentially make this watch a keeper it's almost like it's a baby Pelagos!
Silver does not seem like a good material for a watch case because of tarnish. Even if it has a clear coat, how long is that going to last before it wears through giving tarnished spots? I just can't see buying one.
Yeah I agree normal sterling silver definitely wouldnt work well at all! However, since Tudor and Rolex have their own foundry, Tudor tested and created a brand new alloy of silver (with more aluminum i think) that they claim will not tarnish at all! Despite the claims, I doubt that it'll resist tarnishing completely. But if it does tarnish a bit, I hope that it's only a subtle dark tint bc that could potentially look interesting! However, only time will give us real answers at this point👍
People don’t dive with Submariners? Actually, I have a Pelagos and other than being cleaned, it never gets wet. Not a big fan of the Silver 925. It’s barely a precious metal and really doesn’t enhance the watch.
Yeah I baby my watches including my Pelagos probably a bit too much! Yeah the 925 is definitely not for everyone but when it clicks with someone like me it clicks hard! Did you try it on the fabric strap? I'd say its the more hate it or love it option of the two.
Ah ok yeah I'll admit I wasn't all too enthused by it when I first saw the photos but in the metal it's just crazy how much of a difference all the changed details make all together. Definitely go and try one out if you can!
@@thewatchidiot My AD doesn’t have it or the new Chronograph. Actually, I’m glad. I can’t wear what I have. I never wear my Pelagos, which I really like. Another 5 plus grand, will be hard to explain to my wife.
I hear you! Last year I purged my collection of 12 watches I didn't wear nearly enough to justify owning. Loooool yes 5k would be a tough sell for sure 😂
Yeah for sure, I only kept the bracelet on for a few minutes while I recorded it lol! It definitely looked awesome and makes me want a silver bracelet for the 925!
Ahhhhh there are so many factors at play here! Its hard to say but weirdly enough if you like the tool watch look and want something pretty different you can go for the 925. If you want a watch that you can wear everyday with zero issues then the BB58 Blue might be a better option!
The watch should totally have had a perfectly detailed, decked out sunburs it something comparable dynamically.! Serious fall, IMO... Really boring grey...Very conservative dial.
Ha ha, I do this too, especially with the new speedmaster
@@joeschlicht Oh man I absolutely love the bracelet on the new speedy!! I would have sold my speedy for the new one solely for the bracelet, but I've got too many memories with it 😄
How're you liking it as a whole??
@@thewatchidiotOof. This comment about plastic scratching the silver case is enough for me to stop considering the 925.
Dude You are the first one to put a bracelet on the 925. I always wondered what it looks like
Ngl I'm surprised no one else has done it bc putting it on the bracelet was pretty much the first thing I wanted to do since it's release! Now I really want Tudor to a silver bracelet next year😁
Great comparisons no one else has done thus far. Not even the big boy reviewers. Respect
Thank you so much, means a lot to me! I saw the 925 and I had so many questions about how it compared to a steel BB58 so then I figured others would have the same questions!😁
400 subs only?! gosh your quality and content is like even on the top watch channels here on YT!!
Massive prompts for putting the watch on the 58 bracelet to show us. Thanks a lot. Great review.
Yesssss the moment I heard that the 925 wasn't going to be offered on a bracelet, I became so curious and I figured many others would be too😄
Thank you so much!
Wow the videos are fun to make they still take a huge amount of time so I'm glad that you found it enjoyable👍
Oh man this is a perfect sneak preview for you then😂 hopefully the wait isn't too much longer bc you're in for a treat when you finally see it and feel the 925 in person it still shocks me how different it is compared to the blue bay! For a watch like the 925 I think they got it the colors and finishes spot on! Now all I'm waiting for is a full silver bracelet 😁😁 let me know what you think about it if you get a chance!!!
finally someone who put it on a bracelet! :D
Yes! It was the first thing i wanted to do after finding out that the 925 didnt come on a bracelet! Now i'm really hoping they release a full silver bracelet next year😁
Very cool! I did not realize how big the difference in the metal color was until you showed them side-by-side
Yeah same here! I never really thought of steel as a dark metal until I saw silver😄
Really great comparison! The best I’ve seen on this new model
Oh wow thank you so much that means so much to me!!
I'm so happy you enjoyed it 😁😁 it was a really fun video to make but still a lot of extra work to get ready from start to finish in just over 2 days instead of the normal 7 days!
Thanks for making this review and for doing it as a comparison.
Love love love the 925.
I had a lot of fun making it, I got to honeymoon with the 925 even more😂
Yes at first I was thinking of doing a stand alone video of the 925, but it has so many nuances that I can only explain clearly when referencing a steel BB58.
Leicas from back in the day are truly engineering feats
And oh man you've got a great set up!
The cheaper f3.5 version is the one to go for...unless you want to trade in a watch for a collapsible Summicron :(
Thanks for your input on the 925 wearability.
I'm relatively new to the world of leica so I appreciate you're insights and help!😁
Sure thing, I'm here to help!
Impressive review on the 925. Well done 👏
Thank you so much that really means a lot to me!! I'm glad you enjoyed it👍👍
Great video!
Nice comparison. I think i would still stick with the blue or black 58. For me i think after a while i would miss not having a bracelet on the 925.
Yeah it would have been so cool if the 925 had a full silver option! It looks so good with the grey dial
Unfortunately I can't take advantage of the bracelet on my blue bay bc it somehow is the only bracelet I've ever owned that simply doesn't fit right!
The moment I heard about the 925 not coming on a bracelet I knew putting it on the bracelet would be one of the first things I would do😂
Yeah I agree I'm not a fan of all the gold on the original and I happen to absolutely love grey and brushed surfaces so it was a perfect fit for me!
Gonna pick up mine on Wednesday, what a awesome looking watch!
That's awesome congratulations!!! You're definitely in for a treat when you get it it's sooooo incredible in person. I still can't get over how great the brushing looks and how bright silver is😁😁
Great review! Love the editing, narration and overall videography. I'm sure your channel will blow up soon. Keep the great content coming!
Oh wow thank you so much that means so much to me! It's fun making these videos but still a lot of work so I'm glad you enjoyed it👍
Yes gotta keep my foot on the gas and hope for the best! 😁
Happy to hear that you found those details helpful 👍
Hmmmm I realllllly want them to make a silver bracelet!
Thanks for this comprehensive comparison and review. Great video, well done! I also have the blue and am waiting for my 58 925 - hopefully next week….
Cheers
M
However if it does tarnish hopefully it's subtle and only a dark hue over the watch
Yeah that's a great idea I'll definitely do an update video and my wearing habits are pretty much in line with what you said too.
Great video, definitely the best review of the 925 so far!
Oh man thank you so much, I'm so happy you think so!! Definitely good to hear that what I'm doing is working! 😁
Thanks for the review! Subscribed! I saw on other reviews the bezel had back-play, did you notice that on your example?
Very very good video, you have a new subscriber and ,with such a quality, you’ll have many more. Congrats.
Thank you so much that really does mean a lot to me!! I'm glad you enjoyed the video and fingers crossed that a whole lot more people the same way you do and subscribe! 😁
After seeing the 925 on a bracelet, would a silver bracelet be worth the splurge?? (I think so)
Completely agree.
@@chrism4946 maybe they could have made the end links in silver to avoid damaging case and the rest of the bracelet in steel to keep cost reasonable ?
Yeah I think that could have been a viable option or at least if they offer silver endlinks to those who want it. Granted the look and finish of silver is pretty different but I still think it would be awesome!
Great review and comparison… Gringa recommended the review… glad I watched!
Congrats man! Fantastic watch. Enjoy it!
Thank you so much!! It's great, I think it's been fast tracked to keeper status 👍
Great review, very thorough and well thought out. Subbed!
Awesome thank you so much!! I could have talked about the two watches for hours so I'm glad that I managed to make it cohesive 😂 Welcome to the channel!!
Love it. Slightly concerned how the 925 will hold up though.
Thanks for the outstanding content
Thank you so much for your kind words they mean so much to me!! I'm really happy that you're enjoying the videos and there's much more to come👍👍
Ha I knew that was a leica m3 in the background at the beginning.
@@thewatchidiot yes. I used to own them. Not anymore. Other hobbies now :)
Lool I understand I had to stop myself from falling too deep into the Leica rabbit hole bc I knew it would be financially ruinous alongside my watch obsession 😂
So... they sort of fixed the crown tube length exposure by making the crown thicker? =)
I think Tudor sells an incomplete product.
(So far the blue bay seems to be on its way out😬)
That colour is absolutely beautiful.
I know I'm in the minority but I think the leather strap is better looking than the metal bracelet
Very nice presentation. May I ask where you get your straps from?
Thank you so much, that means a lot to me! Sure thing the nato straps are from Blushark straps! They're super comfortable!
Nice review, the first one I have seen of the Gray. Subscribed. Best wishes.
Awesome thanks so much and welcome to the channel!! It was definitely a fun watch to film👍👍
Nice quality video, keep up the great work!
Awesome thank you so much that means a lot to me! It's a lot of work but it's fun so definitely more videos to come!
(All this talk about the oris is really making me want to crawl through chrono24 now looool)
925 on the other hand, I was expecting it to be good because I love having as many brushed surfaces as possible (unless polishing serves a purpose like you said). But I didnt expect it to be THIS good and i really do think that this can earn keeper status pretty soon! The finish of the brushing is incredible its actually very similar to the brushed finish found on steel Omegas so that was a very nice surprise. I look at it as an every day version of my Pelagos. Its weird to say but the 925 reminds me MUCH more of the pelagos than the blue bay for sure
It would have been cool to have an option for a silver caseback for sure!
What is the fabric you put on with the 925?
Could you please do a video on how to remove the first original leather strap out of 925 🥺
Its a nato strap that i bought from Blu Shark Straps! I think the color is mocha or something coffee related lol. Actually if you look up "how to remove spring bars from watch" you'll get a lot of great videos showing you how to remove straps like the brown strap on the 925👍!
Great watch, great review. My favourite watch for some time.
Thanks so much!! Yeah the 58 line really is special and I can't wait to see what else Tudor has in store for this line😁
Thanks for an incredibly good review. I love the brushed finish and the bright color of silver. I have all my watches on rubber or nato = This is a watch for me :)
Thanks so much, that really means a lot to me!! I'm glad you enjoyed it😁
I still can't get over how much I love the brushed sides on the 925 and how big of a difference it makes compared to my blue bay.
@@thewatchidiot I see your point completely. Oddly I think I just might need to see the 925 in the flesh as I share your view.
Oh yeah for sure if you get a chance to see it in person definitely do so bc it's even better in person than it is in pics and videos!!
Either way it all comes down to what it's like in real life!
excellent review :) best review so far ! :) leaving a sub.
Oh wow thank you so much, and welcome to the channel! I'm so happy to hear that you found the video to be useful and enjoyable👍👍
Great comparison! Just subbed 👍🏻
Thank you so much! And I've been following you on instagram for a long time, you've got some great photos!! Great to see you here and just subbed to you 👍👍
@@thewatchidiot Appreciated mate 🙌🏻
Nice job! I’m intrigued by the 925 and want to compare it to the Blue, so this is perfect. If I buy, it will be not far from you, at Tiny Jewel Box in downtown DC.
Awesome I'm glad I was able to help! When i brought home the 925 the first thing I did was compare it to the blue bay and it was useful to me so i figured others would find it useful too👍
Ah very nice, Tiny Jewel Box is an awesome place, and it's cool to hear from someone from the area! Do you by chance go to DC Red Bar events?
I don’t. What’s a Red Bar event?
Red bar is a group that puts together watch meetups! Obviously hasn't happened in a while lol but they're really good fun just talking to a whole bunch of watch guys and seeing some awesome watches!
Since you're in the area, you should definitely check them out and come to one once we start heading towards normalcy 👍
I’m in the market for a Tudor watch. Yet to decide between Pelagos (because of size) and the Black bay. Would like to see your views on the Pelagos.
Oh man I could talk about this topic or just the Pelagos for HOURS😂😂 I'm planning to do a video on this comparison soon once I get to experience the 925 a little longer
However, if you haven't seen the watches in person/worn them I would definitely recommend doing so bc the Black Bays wear VERY differently compared to the Pelagos given the size, like you said, and also bc of the Pelagos being titanium.
It's a much more "normal watch" but the quality is still very apparent and it wears incredibly well on wrist
If you have any more specific questions about either watch please let me know bc I absolutely LOVE talking about these two watches!!
@@thewatchidiot thanks for the reply. It’s all a bit serious with lockdown in the U.K. atm but I have an appointment booked to see both. 😷
Sure thing! Yeah ive been hearing the same on the news and some of my relatives in London😬 hopefully all is well with you👍
I've only frivolously ventured into stores a few times and each one of those times was to go to my AD 😂😂
Great job. Keep up the great videos.
Thank you so much!! Yes a whole lot more content is coming up!
Thank's for review. There is a 60 click bezel on it, isn't there?
Sure thing, and I'm glad you enjoyed it! Yes, both have 60 click bezels! The best 60 click bezels I might add😁
Very nice and interesting video. All best Jörg
Thank you so much Jörg! I'm so happy that you enjoyed the video 👍👍
But as nice as it sounds, a silver bracelet should be quite susceptible to scratches too 🤔
Ah!
Definitely a strong but soft strap which is nice
Yeah that'll be interesting to see how your 925 takes on the tarnishing in your climate! Also I didn't know about toothpaste being used for polished although that does make sense the more I think about it 😂 if you get a chance, let me know what you think of it when you get it!
Thanks for comparing
No problem, I'm glad you found it useful!
Hey dude! I'm not sure how close you are to DC, but you mentioned NoVA so I figured I'd ask. I'll hit you up on insta. Great video man!
Thank you so much and I'm glad you enjoyed! Yeah I'm in Maryland so I'm close by, great to meet someone local here!
Looks great on the Brown strap
Yeah I agree! Even as a nato guy I must say that this shade of brown suits the watch. Also it's nice that it's soft yet still solid feeling
Love the video! Subbed :)
Thanks man that really means a lot to me!! Welcome to the channel😁😁
Coolest Tudor watch ever made!
I totally agree!! Who'd have thought a silver case dive watch could be so good 😂😂
I'm looking at getting the 925 or the Pelagos lhd (maybe blue).
Both are awesome watches for sure albiet quite different! I love both my 925 and my Pelagos so I can definitely appreciate you deciding between the two. Which watch are you leaning towards?
Well done review.

Very flattering strap in beige(?) - where is that from?
I love this strap my 925 lives on it! Here's a link: amzn.to/3hIzMSc
Btw, this is an affiliate link, it doesnt cost you a penny more but i might be paid a small (very small lol) commission on it, which will go back into the channel👍
@@thewatchidiot First challenge will be getting a 925! Thanks though, definitely will be on that once I can get one.
No problem It's definitely a cool watch and a cool strap so hopefully the extra demand for the 925 cools down quick!
Any tips on installing the bracelet without scratching the lugs?
oh man with silver its just about impossible bc of how soft it is as a metal. Even using a full on set of spring bar pliers will risk scratching the lugs
Also I have heard that steel can react with silver when sweat comes into contact with them.
Great video. Subscribed!
Thank you so much and welcome to the channel!!😄
The Tudor glamour double date also has the in-house movement and also has a display case back. Just saying….. 😂
Oh whoa I didn't know that! Thanks for letting me know! Hopefully this is a sign that Tudor is warming up to using display case backs on more watches 😀
Anyone now the taper on the leather strap? Is it 20/18 or 20/16?
Interesting review but the fact that you had the bezel 1 notch misaligned throughout the whole video really got on my nerves UNLESS this watch had a bezel alignment issue which I can understand since my Rolex and Breitling also had them. Cheers/
Maybe if the end links are silver and the bracelet steel?
That's actually a pretty awesome idea, it really would be the best of both worlds in that the 925 can be worn on a bracelet without being damaged and also it would cost much less than a full silver bracelet (which would also be awesome)
Oh man i would totally be down for that! Hopefully Tudor is reading this comment thread and taking action👍👍
What band is on your blue bay?
It's a Blushark nato in grey! Actually both natos are from Blushark 👍
You get the same movement open caseback on Tudor 57100
Oh wow didn't know that! I appreciate the heads up and good to know that Tudor is hopefully going to start using exhibition case back on more of their non tool watch watches
they should do a silver bracelet
Totally agree with you! Fingers crossed that they've got it coming next year😁😁
The 925 on a jubilee bracelet would be sick.
oh man that would be awesome no doubt! we can dream i guess lol!
The silver looks great, but I'd still choose the blue.
Yeah they're pretty different watches actually but I still love my blue bay for different reasons! Thankfully they can coexist in the same collection (at least for now😬)
I was thinking the same thing!!
It's looks great on a bracelet right!
Where can I get a Black Bay 58 925 in the UK? I can’t even get my name on a list :(
Oh man that's rough I wish I knew of an AD that I could refer you to!
They dropped the ball not releasing this on a bracelet.
Yeah i really wish they released one bc now I really want to know what a full silver bracelet would look and feel like! I can understand that Tudor might not have wanted to spend that much extra money on whats already a risky watch initially but since there now seems to be a solid demand for it they should definitely give it a go asap!
@@thewatchidiot Yes because I would love to see how it ages and oxidizes ect..
@@u.u.upatreonrequests8679 right there with you! If it does tarnish i'm just hoping that its a subtle dark tint throughout. Future baby Pelagos lol
Good stuff
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it 👍👍
Very Nice video.
I’d like to see the silver on a rubber b strap.
Ooooo that would look pretty awesome actually! It would go well with the fully brushed case for sure👍
Nice quality video. Keep them coming!
I’m curious about one thing. Are the spring bars permanent since it’s usually on a NATO?
Thanks so much!! Yes definitely more to come👍👍
The spring bars are removable so you can put on any strap you'd like!
Am I the only one who thinks that the crown looks different? To me it appears a little deeper or longer than the steel. Maybe I'm crazy...
looool you're not crazy it does look like its a bit bigger! However, that only comes down to the fact that polished surfaces reflect the background much more which leads to those surfaces almost "disappearing" whereas brushed and matte surfaces stand out from the background and consequently visually look more prominent. (one of the main ways how seiko manages to magically make their big cases look and feel so small!)
In the same vein the 925 case visually looks ever so slightly bigger but these visual differences are only apparent when you have both right next to each other. In daily use, the 925 wears exactly like a BB58 in steel
Just to be sure i measured both crowns with my calipers again and theyre identical ay 6.7mm x 3mm!
IMO, the silver is a nice rotatable piece; it would be a great addition to any collection, but not a a single watch collection choice.
Yeah I agree, as much as I love the 925 I wouldnt want to take it into any super active or situations where it could take a hit. I know that i would make it through those situations but I wouldnt want to see a giant ding in the beautiful brushed case!!! For those situations I've got my SKXs😀
This is going to end up being an expensive video for me
Loool the watchfam if just a giant group of enablers 😂😂 (I say go for it👍)
Go on. Treat yourself.. I'm sure you deserve it 👍👍
You totally deserve it
Oh man I think it's time to unsubscribe 😂jk!
But I totally see the tool watch look you're talking about and that's what's really hooked me
Looool sometimes I want to unsubscribe too😂😂 But same here that's what's going to potentially make this watch a keeper it's almost like it's a baby Pelagos!
@@thewatchidiot I like the BB 58 in steel. I have not seen it in person in silver. It’s difficult to judge in a video.
Silver bay🚀
I think the stainless steel coupled with silver will end up corroding.
Yeah for sure, I only kept the bracelet on for a few minutes while I recorded it lol! It definitely looked awesome and makes me want a silver bracelet for the 925!
Isnt the point of silver though, to be polished???
So, tell us, what do ME sell!?!

Really boring grey...Very conservative dial.
looks no different to me when they compare together... a bit disappointed...
