    First of all, Merry Christmas! We had been in a remote area in Peru without the internet for 5 days. But we're back in civilization ready to upload new videos. We spent our Christmas in Cabanaconde with good pizza and a bottle of red wine, a pretty good one! Hopefully.
    How did you enjoy Christmas? Fill us in. What have we missed?

    Hey guys - loved the editing on this video, and in your videos in general. Your style choice to keep the additional music and quick cuts to a minimum really helps to make me feel like I was there and keeps a great feeling of authenticity and focus on the story. Really love watching your guys’ vids, I know they have definitely had an impact on how I’ve adjusted my editing style over time.

    Hi Kristina and Romain
    I loved it this video .
    I am from Bolivia and I saw your video, I found it very great that they made this tour of El Alto, since few foreigners go to see it and I also found it wonderful that you tried Bolivian gastronomy .
    I hope you return to Bolivia ☺️🖐️🤗

    Awesome video! It's really nice to see foreigners enjoy themselves traveling through La Paz and Bolivia in general because most tourists usually skip my country as a whole, lol. So thanks for sharing you experience!

    Alex was in Bolvia in 2018, but I haven't been there yet. Shame with the weather but you seem to have had a great local experience at that market. We don't listen to much to people's warnings about places unless they are really serious. Funny story though. Alex got pick pocketed by some Bolivan ladies in big traditional dresses at a small market somewhere in Boliva..😄🙃

    That looked like fun. And those marshmallow painted houses on the way up in the cable car. So cute. Did you go to Crawford Market in Bombay? I'd say about 1/10th of the area of this market and twice as crowded! Stay safe. Love, D.

      It was really cute. We didn’t show that on video because we didn’t know but somebody crashed a car and the car felt into the cliff. It’s still there it’s crazy. We didn’t go there. It could be great to see though. Thank you Dave 😊

      Exactly! Markets and food there is the best way to see how local live. I prefer to eat there than in touristy restaurants that are overpriced and sometimes not even good 😑

    Hi Guys! Just found your channel. I love using Google Earth and "exploring" around they world and randomly dropping down to street level where it lets me. Yesterday, I happening to drop down into the heart of La Paz. I found myself in the middle of a ton of street vendors that went on and on. So many women wearing the traditional long skirts, shawls, and those cool tall bowler (derby) hats propped up on top of their heads. I've seen pictures, but never would have guessed that it was everyday attire there in a big city. The hats intrigued me, so I was trying see if any of the vendors or stores had them on display. I didn't see them anywhere; blankets, shawls, skirts, caps, but no bowlers. They look expensive. So, I read up on them and they indeed are expensive. I read that, oh yeah, they're for sale all over on the street there. I only saw that you could buy them online.
    Anyway, I like watching street food videos, but I had never thought of checking La Paz. I did, and that's how I found you two. I plan on watching a lot more of your adventures.
    Long lead up to my question. sorry. Did you see the bowler hats for sale anywhere? I don't want one, but I wondered where they buy them and how much they have to pay.
    Thanks for sharing your adventures.

    • @KristynaRomain
      @KristynaRomain  4 роки тому +1

      I actually don't know the price but they are easy to find ! And thanks a lot for your nice comment

    • @edsonacarapi6932
      @edsonacarapi6932 4 роки тому

      Yeah, fantastic video! The bowler hats are sold around an area in the city called Max Paredes and you can find a variety of colors and prices. Some bowler caps go for 20 USD and some are worth upwards of 100 USD for the wealthier "cholitas"( the ladies who wear these hats). I'm a local tour guide, if you're interested in getting to know about La Paz and Bolivia a little more in depth there's actually a virtual city tour available online. Here's a link with more info and reviews from happy customers that I've already shown around through my shared google earth screen: www.viator.com/tours/La-Paz/Virtual-City-Tour-La-Paz/d5027-196546P5.

    El Alto is supposedly the most dangerous neighborhood in La Paz and pretty much every local would say the same. Not sure if the market area is an exception but El Alto neighborhood is allegedly very dangerous according to most locals you ask on the street.
    In South America, when people say to avoid an area, it really is dangerous. If it turns out the area you went in is a favela or barrio and the reason for the warning by locals, you are in a lot of trouble.
    South American countries are not the places to roll the dice and take your chances unless you have a knowledgeable and connected local escorting you.

      As you can see we tell you that cause if you want to take a taxi or a minibus at night. For us is dangerous too, but at night. In La Paz that is another city, you can walk more safe for sure, even all night till dawn.

    • @MuhammadIamhardBrucelee
      @MuhammadIamhardBrucelee 5 років тому

      Israel SP People told us to avoid El Alto altogether citing it as a dangerous no go area. This was during daytime. We did the cable car ride and went to check out the Mercado but were vigilant and lot of side streets look shady. This was daytime and most locals told us to avoid El Alto.

      Durante la noche El Alto se torna peligrosa, pero no son todas sus zonas, de día se puede caminar normal tomando algunas precauciones, la situación que se vivió en el mes de noviembre de 2019 fue excepcional, ahora todo esta normal.

    The bad guys are the bikers, police and military be carefully in la paz. you are safer in el alto with the indigenous people of Bolivia. Evo MAS!! Enjoy Bolivia for me it is one of the most amassing places in the world.Definitely make it to the island of the sun on lake titicaca . It is a dangerous time now under this coup government be careful and don't respond to comments like mine till you ve left Bolivia.
