    Morning this mite be a silly qeustion but here goes awesome vedeo, when casting at the beach I've always been told to use a grabber sinker so would I switch this rig up with a grabber if the area doesn't have so many reef struckers if that makes sence.

      Mornings Henry no question is a silly question, at least you are questioning. Grab sinker can help for 2 things, if you are fishing from the shore the sinker will grab in the sand so that the current does not move your line around. And if it does come that you get stuck then the sinker can release itself. I prefer the bottle sinker but grab sinkers can also be used. I will be uploading a video today that explains how the sinker works. It's always best to have a short sinker line. Hope that answers your question 🎣🎣🤙🏻

      🎣 I also tie a short sinker trace line!
      I use mostly spoon sinkers I made and bottle sinkers for surf fishing.
      The only time I would use a cone, pyramid and grapnel sinker, is when there is a strong side wash flow in the surf!
      In some USA shore surf fishing videos, I see they use a grab sinker, as I described, in general fishing, and when not necessary to do so!...
      Using "grab" sinkers means more stress on the rod, and more stress on the reel's gears, when reeling back, as the top flat side is dragged along bottom! 🎣

    Great video & thank you. Also a question. On your trace line on top where the swivel from the sinker line & hook line meet - you have that floater ball? How does that two connect to the main line?

    • @crazyforfishingsa
      @crazyforfishingsa  2 роки тому +2

      Hi there, thanks much appreciated. The sinker line is used as a sliding sinker so you put your sinker swivel on your leader line(trace line) and then tie your hook line swivel to the leader line. The sinker line will then move freely. I usually put a small bead between the two swivels so that they do not cross each other. Hope it helps. I will put it in one of my future videos.🎣🎣🤙🏻

      ,🎣 .... put the sliding sinker trace line swivel onto the main line, then a bead.
      Next tie the hook trace line swivel onto the main line. 🎣
      In UK, the trace is called a, Snood.
      In some SA fishing videos, they mention, snoot!, which is wrong,!
      Crazy amazing to me!

      If you don't have thinner mono or nylon line for your sinker trace, tie a simple overhand knot in the line, pressure will cause the line to break at that knot, if your other knots hold tight! 🎣

    Thank you for a very informative video,definitely going to try this. May I just ask why the rope on the sinker?

    • @crazyforfishingsa
      @crazyforfishingsa  2 роки тому +2

      Hi, thank you, glad that you found this helpful. When using a sliding sinker you use a much weaker line so if you are stuck and you have a fish on you are able to break the sinker off and still reel in the fish, the rope protects you from loosing your sinker when you cast, as the weaker line could break on the cast around the rough edges of the sinker. 🎣🎣🤙🏻

    Why you wearing gloves ,any reason for that
    Start swimming to shark rock and the island ,seems like you only like fishing the blakes area and to the left of adderly street, you can wade far deeper than that on the low tide

    • @crazyforfishingsa
      @crazyforfishingsa  2 роки тому +2

      Hi Lynton, firstly gloves are a preference, it protects against the sharp edges of the reef and if you land a monster kob it protects you from their teeth and gill plates. We move around alot, I have been to all the different reef spots along strand reefs but I only show footage where I have caught fish. If you watched the video where I caught the big kob you will see why the gloves are necessary, and on that day I forgot my gloves. 🎣🎣🤙🏻
