Yes, grow indoors without a tent. Ventilation was the damndest thing for me to figure out and the most deadly to my plants. I had to find an option that wouldn’t increase my electric bill costs every month not to mention a hepa filter and those are never cheap. For my third garage (aka giant grow tent) I used a portable A/C unit and that alone in monthly costs during the summer were brutal which has forced me to move indoors changing my art studio into a plant room. Since there’s a side room (like a supply room with no door) perfect for me to still keep my art room just have to figure out where I’m going to store my supplies. So for anyone out there reading this who doesn’t have a room waiting for a reason to use it I’d suggest a closet or a standing shelf in any room of your choice. A linen closet was perfect for my first go at moving indoors which I moved the linens into a drawer and towels to a shelf rack and under the sink cabinets in the bathroom, it was a success but not large enough for my needs. Indoor is the only way to go cost effectively and to keep your sanity and wallet in check. Hope this was helpful.
i would use a little fan( that clip from the top) for ventilation for the moment. as you said in your video, if you plan to put more succulents in the tent than i would go also with a computer fan. 😊
Plants need co2 👌🌵 so a fan set up is essential to draw in outside air recommend drawing from a liveable space if possible to get as much co2 as possible
I know very little about grow tents but when I searched in YT, most of what came up is for growing hemp LOL. Seems an awful lot of wasted space for a few small succulents. Can you do multiple levels?
Yeah I plan to have tiered racks to increase the capacity. I just don't have one right now. Will either have to source one that fits or build one, but it's not as easy right now especially with Melbourne going into stage 4 restrictions. For now my focus is figuring out how my grow light and tent works before I introduce my other plants/seedlings to it.
I have a question. My echeverias are under a grow light but i noticed their leaves have started to close up since moving them from my windowsill. Am I doing something wrong? I am very new to this.
I have seen that your Sedum rupestre 'Angelina' have a low amount of leaves on the stems, is that normal for these pine like Sedums? You were also talking about frost damage on your Echeverias and then go ahead and planting your Sedum rubrotinctum aurora cuttings. I was under the impression that they cannot deal with low temperatures like the other Sedum plants.
Yeah they tend to be sparse in winter in my climate, but thicken up again in spring. About the rubrotinctum, I am exploring to see if August (final month of winter here) is early enough to get some clumps growing by spring. It will still likely be cold until September, but I am counting on the reduced rainfall towards the end of winter. It is usually more rainy in winter and summer here. Less so in spring and autumn. About the frost damage, in the past I would lay frost cloth on them but didn't this year because I wanted to see how different plants deal with frost. Very surprising results. A lot of the gibbiflora hybrids copped some frost damage. The thin leaved ones like E. cante didn't. The dense rosettes also didn't get frost damage. I'm kinda looking forward to next winter now because there are some new things I want to try differently, but I need to let my echeveria recover first in summer.
@@Cerriscapades As ok, I mean you know more about succulents than I do but I will keep learning. I would be afraid to experiment like that since I do not own many copies of my plants. Maybe the denser plants keep their warmth longer than the others. I think thin leaves also do better because there is less cells to be damaged in the leaf. Think about Sempervivum which have thin leaves as well and are really cold hardy.
I love that you’ve gone the grow tent direction but Chuck, don’t you have a small space for 6 plants inside your house? A bathroom, office, kitchen.....it’s easier, more manageable for consistent temps and watering and CO2 levels and most importantly for everyone less expensive going the indoor route. Ask me how I know! I have no problem trying things and putting two years into options for my succulents. However after two years growing in my climate controlled third garage (basically a massive grow tent, with a grow tent inside moved to multiple places, inside your home is the best option I have tested and found.
Oh and since you’re still likely to use a grow tent dont forget you may need CO2 for plants to grow. There are ways to provide this either you’ll need to have contact with your grow tent opened to provide it mote than a few times a day or get a mushroom CO2 tube. They are kind of cool! Or start growing mushroom.....which is what I did before moving indoors and still door since moving indoors. Now I grow mushrooms Gourmet and medicinal and succulents. Lol. This world of growing succulents have gone psychedelic.

Could you measure the exact dimension of just the metal pole frame? Preferably in metric. Their specs on paper seems off.

How low the temperature go there
It went as low as -1°C last month, but on average it's usually 2-10°C at night during winter.
