That was actually really helpful, thank you. I went out to ride yesterday and was having an electrical problem, found and fixed it in about an hour then went to ride and my clutch cable wouldn’t work, I think my son messed with it 😂
Hate to admit it but I replaced my friction discs and left out a washer. One of the washers that fit next to the beveled washer. It worked but slipped obviously since it was a loose clutch assembly. It was my first time. Anyway I corrected the problem by ordering a new washer since mine was nowhere to be found. Installed the new one but was still loose. I noticed it was loose but left it that way bc, why, you think? I listened to a buddy. He told me that was just how it is suppose to be. Test rode and had a great 1st and 2nd but not much 3rd, 4th, or 5th. Well if learning from mistakes is the way to learn I was being handed a diploma on this day bc I had 1st gear friction disk in the same slot as the rest. That ain't how it goes. Again I asked my buddy, but I own the mistake. So now I get to start over and correct it. What did I learn. Be choosier when asking for advice on something I've never done before.
Hey I was trying to adjust my Honda Shadow 2001 and now I can't get it to kick in now when I start it in neutral I can pull down the clutch and put it in gear and it will die
If your clutch is too loose can it make it hard to switch gears? Or does that mean the clutch spring is bad? I have a 2004 Shadow VLX 600, I bought it a couple months ago and it had been laid down on the left side, the clutch wire is frayed at the handle
yeah i mean if the clutch is loose than itll be slipping bad and can be harder to put in gear, but also the clutch spring could be bad but id start by adjusting the cable and if that doesnt help, dig deeper
