HDMI port is not an indicator of use because theirs people like me that plugged it in once and never moved it. Lol
Definitely a fair point that no scratches doesn’t necessarily mean it hasn’t been used. But you know for sure the console has been well loved when you start seeing a bunch of scratches 😂
Use my ps5 daily since i got it at launch and i have never unplugged the hdmi cabel from the system. Tv has been changed a few times tho.
i think he moreso is talking about people who travel with their ps5 a lot. but i’m the same way, i think i’ve only unplugged/moved my ps5 like 3 times in the 2 years i’ve had it
Every time you talk about the "scratches at the HDMI port" I always wonder if im different in terms of using my console. Because you plug it in and not out? Are people really so effortless and let there console be so damaged? I will never understand it. I always feel sad to see this damaged/dirty consoles....
How does scratching something thats so easy to scratch aka 1$ plastic part damaging it? Its normal to have wear tear
I mean the hdmi port getting scratched is 100% expected. It’s almost impossible to not get any sort of scratching there unless you literally only plug it in one time and plug it in perfectly
I mean kids with separated parents are prob constantly plugging and unplugging their ps5 between mom and dads house. Also people deployed, people who travel. Not too difficult to come up with a scenario where someone could scratch the port carelessly

Definitely seen worse, but the reason I consider this almost as bad is because it’s coming straight from Sony. All this stuff is expected from GameStop, eBay, etc. But from Sony? It’s their console, it should be better. I don’t expect the console to be perfect, I mean it’s a used console. But intentionally scratching it up? Come on. That stuff drives me nuts lol
@@jrob0021 for the price, its really not that big of a deal. Its refurbished, not brand new. Clearly nit picking for the sake of content.
Best thing would be the warranty.
Warranty is nice. Supposed to be a year long
its not magic eraser. they use a buffer wheel with really fine polishing compound. that's why you have one really long streak across the face instead of a bunch of streaks like you would have with magic eraser
Interesting, thanks for the info. Not sure it makes it any better though lol. It’s absurd to me that Sony will create a console with a huge glossy part, and then intentionally scratch it up in the refurbishing process.
They look pretty good to me, the $100 savings is even sweeter.
This reminds me of generic packaging you'd sometimes get from secondary manufacturer's when they refurbish products, but it's still a shame you lose the nice ps5 box, as i feel like they're not quite the same, especially if it's your main gaming rig.
The only reason why I would buy a PS5 is to play majority of PS4 games through BC and some upcoming games. Even then I haven't felt the need to get one, I'm having a blast on my secondhand PS4 Pro (which I got for 140Eur in great condition with 2 controllers and few games which I don't need per se because I jailbroke the console) and it feels great because of pure amount of games on it to enjoy.
Back in the day I bought a “refurbished” ps4 from sony via amazon. It arrived bricked. Won’t do that again. Took some work to get my money back.
I've unplugged all my consoles at least ten times to clean them. My HDMI ports are perfect not one scratch. Just use a light and take your time

I've heard that refurbished electronics are usually defective items returned to the manufacturer under warranty. The previous owner is provided a new console or credit, and the defective console is fixed and put back into sale as refurbished.

And just coz it's only got a few scratches by the HDMI, doesn't mean it hasn't been hammered. Could have just been set up once, but enjoyed fully for years possibly

They can get away with it because your average Joe/console gamer isn't too well versed into computer maintenance.
Plenty of them sell a console as faulty for overheating issues. Or they'll probably bin it and buy a new one, when you could just fix the overheating issue within minutes with a quick disassembly, clean and a repaste.

can someone please explain to me what the 'joke' is . i dont understand what is bad about these products they look pretty good condition and other than the magic eraser which literally is fine and mainly on the bottom underside where you cant see overall looks like a pretty good deal .
edit :also this is a console that you set and forget bro from 5metres away you wouldnt be able to see a single fault with it. its not like a phone that you look at and use with your hands .
It’s embarrassing for Sony to magic erase their own consoles and send the wrong stand. They’re literally YOUR consoles, get it right. I don’t care if the console has some wear and tear, I do care about them intentionally scratching the console with magic eraser

Normally I would consider this somewhat acceptable (well accept the wrong stand part, that always makes me and), but like I said in the last reply, it’s straight from Sony. It’s unacceptable for Sony to be sending out the wrong stands when they are the ones who made these stands. Buying 2 ps5s and seeing multiple instances of of magic eraser and a wrong stand is not a good sign for the rest of them.
Mistakes happen and that’s fine. I make mistakes. But the fact that almost every video game retailer I buy from has some sort of issue, it’s a bit ridiculous at this point. I shouldn’t have to reach out to customer service on every order. So seeing the same thing from Sony themselves is pretty disappointing

I don't see the issue with the magic eraser being used (if one was used), especially on the disc console where it's only used on the bottom. The only issue I saw is that it's the wrong stand for the digital one. Other than that this is a pretty good deal
I think magic eraser is subjective. Some people care about their console being scratched, some people don’t. Honestly I don’t even care about consoles be scratched up from normal use, it just makes me mad when companies intentionally scratch it up like this to clean it or whatever else they claim it’s for. In general I do agree it’s a good deal for most people who don’t care what it looks like (minus the wrong stand)

for $700 bucks for the pro (retail) with markup to $1000-$2000? dollars for a while from some vendors, that is just not worth it at all. You can get someones old gaming desktop or laptop for that. I am in the market for a gaming laptop (msi probably) with rtx 4050-4080 so I can download steam and be done with consoles. Tired of DEI companies forcing us on to their shit, tired of microsoft, tired of unfinished shit games and microtransactions, tired of CEOs and shareholders controlling the dev teams. Modern gaming sucks.

Sonys refurbished controllers are usually new. I bought 3 Dualshock 4s refurbished and they were same as new just the box was different. Were $30 each last black friday

same with microsoft. Not even worth buy new consoles anymore. Games suck, consoles ehh, microtransactions suck, unfinished games that sell for $60+ dollars suck. The entire thing is a scam and now run by modern day people that hate guns and games.
