- The Railway Touring Company's 'Stratford Flyer' from Manchester Piccadilly to Stratford-upon-Avon ran on Saturday 9th March 2024.
It was hauled by Ian Riley's Black Five No. 44871 with a rake of West Coast Mk2 stock as West Coast currently have no Mk1 carriages with central door locking which is an ORR stipulation.
West Coast's class 47 No. 47815 'Great Western' was on the rear.
It is seen here passing through Stone Station, running around five minutes early.
Great video! I saw her at Henley in Arden.
Thanks, much appreciated
I’ve caught her this time at earlswood and this is the second time seeing that loco after I saw her last weekend at Tamworth
Rob, Nicely captured. Regards, John
Thanks John
Glad you managed to catch it Rob plus the crafty 2nd clip. Cheers, Brian.
Thanks Brian. Weather was miserable but at least the drizzle let up whilst it came through. Cheers, Rob
Anyone now when west coast railways steam locomotives will be back out
West Coast never say anything about their plans. Rumour has it they are fitting central door locking to some of their Mk1s, Until they do, only air braked locos can haul the Mk2s. Tangmere is one, not sure if they have any others.
