Cameo Appearance
I'm starting to expect to see you make a cameo appearance in the background of all these videos now, like one of those photoshop challenges.
You had me rolling.. Made me think of the Katt Williams bit where he was like, "You know that I can see you right?"
Its amazing to see you had the chance to train with one of if not best fighters in the world. Wonderboy you are such a lucky guy
Hahahahahahaha
This is probably the best comment ever🤣🤣🤣 big up Icy Mike💪🏿

DUUUUDE MIKE! WHYYYYYY? Everyone was already ducking Wonderboy and now that they know he trains with you he'll never fight again. Everyone would be too scared 😢
Yeah I think the time with me really completed him as a fighter.
@@hard2hurt love you Mike ❤😁
Angel, we CANT overlook one of WB's other training partners, that Man of Steel himself, Houston Jones, his channel proves that he truly is a superb athlete. The man can jump from a standing start about 6 feet in the air and land on the mattresses. WB couldnt get any where near the Jones boys frog like, well, spring like jumps, i guess his Yuge leg muscles take care of it for him but its a sight to behold.
I wanna say hi to sensei seth lurking in the comment section. Hey mate
Yo!
Haha, awesome
I notice icy Mike didn't want any problems with wonderboy and didn't say a word about his long shorts like he does with Jay.
Meta reference
Idk who this Wonderboy guy is, but he's about to blow up.
He’s up and coming just joined UFC

I'm working with him on it.
mikes reaction when side kicks were mentioned was priceless.
Exactly at 6:43 🤣🤣🤣 I had to screen shoot it
In mikes head he's replacing side kick with front kick every time it's mentioned.
You cussed at wonderboy’s gym, the audacity....
How nice of you to train this young fellow Mike. He seems very nice. I think he has a bright future with your teaching
I'll get him squared away.
I don't see it. He seems way too sweet and innocent to achieve any success in the fight biz.

1:27 keep a farther distance away
3:00 side kick
4:20 angle change, move away from power hand
Was expecting the outtro to be Mike getting absolutely sent by a sidekick but somehow it was even better.
That gym looks amazing
Thinking that myself actually, no garage there. Poppa Ridge Hand (WB's dad, no doubt was the founder/owner.
I love your content sir
I've always been the shorter smaller fighter. Once in a tournament, I faced someone my size. I thought, great, this should be easy. NOT! All he had ever done was fight larger taller opponents.
Stephen Wonderboy Thompson is no doubt one of the best strikers in the UFC, it's good that you have him in creating this video. And by the way, side kicks do work, they're very effective as Wonderboy proves that.
Icy Mike is a wrecking ball disguised as a stereotypical pocket-sized BJJ instructor.
So awesome.
I hope WB learns from this exchange and begins posting videos stabbing watermelons with flashlights in his backyard.
lmao
The look on mikes face during the side kick tips was golden 🤣
Big props to your boy on the gimbal! As a camera op myself I know exactly what it’s like when you try to frame up action between two leads with a height disparity and he did an awesome job all on the fly with a celeb!!!
🙌🙌🙌
Nice eye. He also has never filmed somebody else leading either so you and i can see him dialing it in live and in real time
2:08 a wild sensei Seth appears
Lol forgot my phone
@@SenseiSeth When you first popped in crawling, I was like, "What kind of drill is that??"
This Wonderboy person seems like he could potentially fight in the UFC. Probably would lose to the top guys like Masvidal and Luque tho
dunno if it was the different setting that made me notice but shout out to maddox on the camera. some great little subtle movements
He really does fabulous camera work. He’s got a great eye for it - makes you realize how many other people are terrible at it.
Yeah he is amazing. It was fun for me to see him adapt on the fly to filming someone else teaching.
@@hard2hurt great kid, family, and H2H crew in general.a credit to you buddy
“Isn’t this revealing all of wonderboys stuff?” Hahaha
Wonderboy's advice here is very reminiscent of Superfoot Bill Wallace.
Wonderboy: "One of my favorite weapons to use is the sidekick"
We don't do that here...
Has icy mike talked about that before?
@@VegaH_ lmao yeah i’m pretty sure he made a video on why side kicks don’t really work in street fights
@@madebytaeg He was half serious about how it's risky if you suck at sidekicks but it's mostly a recurring joke
Enter, Precious Pup laugh.
@@LohJiaHung I've got a lot more faith in a sidekick than a double leg takedown for sure
Duude what a collab! It's weird seeing such different personalities together 😂
Wonderboy is SO nice that even when you make a total ass of yourself and fall flat on your face, his immediate reaction is supportive: "It was there bro!" As if you almost succeeded LOL.
Wonderboy is one of the nicest people I've ever seen in the UFC. You can't hate him.
I love how Wonder Boy uses those side kicks. In boxing it’s called walking guys into shots, only he uses kicks in this instance in place of punches. It’s a testament to his great footwork, control of distance, and ring/cage management.
Great vid mike. And very big of you to go easy on the nmf like that :))
[What I love about Mike is that he maintains the same personality whether he's in Satan's Backyard or on the mats with elite fighters. Awesome content!]
oh shit, we're going to see flashlight reviews from Wonderboy...
Love this video, footwork is the most underrated skill, and also the most important skill. It's what makes the difference between good fighting skills and brawling. I also like how you can really see Stephen's karate background shining through in his footwork, he also applies karate how it should be applied/trained. I'm really glad that there are guys like him and now also formats like karate combat bringing a good approach to karate. Would make for a very interesting video to see how different arts apply footwork. Muay Thai vs K-1 style kickboxing vs Savate vs Karate footwork would make for a very interesting comparison.
You are speaking my language. We should be friends
Mike, your stuff is just fantastic. I wish I could hit subscribe a zillion times. Bless all of you for the clean yet real and funny ass content-with a chaser of awesome teachings. Bravo, y’all. 👏👏👏
Was that Seth in the background?! This multiverse is greatness.
These are great tips, y'all, thanks!
Also, this may be the best outro on all of UA-cam. 🎉
The funniest fucking thing in the world is watching you throw that kick at the end and Wonderboy just kinda looks at it as you flop. It reminds me of Forrest Griffin talking about trying to punch Anderson Silva, and Silva looked at him like he was a moron for even trying.
Basically keep the fight on YOUR terms. Attack when they rest. Keep distance when they attack.
Holy hell! It's been about 3 years or so since I've checked your channel out Mike and I see you've grown by like 300k subs! Congratulations my man, Glad to see you doing your thing!
I'm impressed with how good of a teacher wonderboy is. It's one thing to be able to do something well and it's another think to explain it well.
Oh, yeah. Lyoto Machida showed this stuff on his training videos. I recommend those videos too.
7:55 Just picking up that loose change laying around to put in WB's swear-jar later.
Love this channel. It is so basic and real and you guys are very humble. Regarding a few things said in this video I would like to quote a few of my teachers: “ do the common techniques uncommonly well.”
What do you mean you don't know how to fight someone shorter ? You must have had a few ''ladies'' try to hit you, back when you were a cop :)
😂 Maddox trying to keep Wonderboy and Mike in the camera frame is hilarious.
This translates so well to longsword fencing. Distance management is essential, maybe even more important than in unarmed fights. Moving in a better position, flanking and baiting seems very similar to what you two showed here for boxing / MMA.
Thanks for the clear explanations!
Boxing evolved from fencing
His channel is great. I have a karate background but also do muay thai, so his technique videos are reeeeeally useful for me. Cheers from brazil!
If you look real close at 2:15 you might spot a ninja creep into the frame. You have to look close because he's real stealthy.
Yeah he was hiding behind that fat dude crawling around.
Whenever i teach this stuff in class i can see my students soul leave their bodies. I know its "boring" but this is where most fights are won.
Awesome technique in there. Seriously a world of difference in sparring sessions.
Dude getting wonderboy? Amazing guest. Also holy shit Wonderboy is literally the nicest how can you not be a fan
I didn't realise how much he really uses karate until I saw this video
Wonderboy is the 🐐 we want that title shot for you buddy.
why do we need a tutorial on how to beat short guys
I have literally never met a tall guy I could handle except brand new tall guys
And I have literally never met a short guy I couldn't handle except literal pros.
Height is such an extreme advantage I think they should have height classes instead of weight classes.
You'd have sean o malley fighting daniel cormier 🤣🤣 they'd arrest anyone who sanctions that fight that would be brutal 🤣
Wonderboy! Glad to see you two working together. ❤ from The Scrapyard!
The guy crawling in the background🤣1:55
I do the side kick in sparring too. And its really effective. Sometimes they rush in and it's very easy to stop them with the sidekick and the more agressive they come the further they get pushed when the sidekick lands. Love the sidekick
Wonder Boy doing side kicks and switching stances on Icy Mike's channel. If side kicks are good enough for Wonder Boy and switching stances works for Lomo then obv it's good for me. Right??? Great vid
Bruh, I've seen some phone behind you that magically disappeared. Did some of you notice that shit? Unbelievable.
Hahahaha
Seth channeling his inner solid snake there. Solid Seth... or Seth snake
Wonderboy is such a nice guy, he brings the nice out of other people.
It's really cool to me that most of what you just taught is the same basics I teach to new students with sword fighting.
Considering that I'm just above average size I can still be seen as a small guy. This still has a lot of good points for me against people my size or smaller! Also Mike has covered plenty to handle larger opponents/enemies.
I'd like to think I'm okay at fighting long but most of the shorter guys I spar with are heavier than me so most of the time they can just tank my shots and blitz me or take me down
Some great techniques. I had the opportunity to train with a professional MMA fighter, Blake "Bulletproof" Troop a while back and he used many of those techniques especially the one where he taps my hands like Wonderboy mentioned "playing with the hands" of Geoff Neal. It was an effective technique against me who is much smaller. Not only did it help him maintain his range, but it also tired my shoulders when trying to keep my guard up.
Good content and glad to see that wonderboy Thompson seems like a pretty cool dude! He's currently my dad's favorite fighter and given what he explained here I see why.
Damn it's amazing how skilled Wonderboy is. I mean, he's one of the best in the world at hand to hand combat. Icy Mike has great knowledge & chemistry with him. So very informative video. Plz keep them coming! 💯💯💯
I like Wonder Bou but his distance control won't be nearly as good in a ring. The octagon doesn't have corners hence he can run a lot more and get away with it. It's also harder to cut somebody off in the octagon
Lol that's why he is undefeated in over 50 kickboxing matches haha you nincompoop
Hey Mike. Any chance of doing a video on drills you can do on a bag to get better and stronger when throwing strikes? Found myself stuck at home and working on the bag is my only relief.
It's heart warming to see wonderboy open up to Mike and allow himself to be vulnerable with someone he idolizes so much. Don't know why he mentions his infertility though.
What?
What?
What?
What?
what?
2:13 Man crawls on all 4s in the middle of the screen to avoid being seen retrieving phone. Someone rolled a Nat 1 for stealth...
Quarter of the way in the video and I die of laughter because of sensei Seth’s crawling on the ground cameo
"Side kicks don't work *wink*" is exactly the right mentality lol
Mike: making a video
Seth: *sneak increased to 100*
Great video and info! Without having ever done it, of all the combat sports it appears as if MMA would be the most challenging to master effective footwork due to the number of weapons you have at your disposal and need to defend against. Footwork gets you in and out of trouble. Thank you!
Wonderboy is so awesome as a fighter. It's nice to know that he's a great guy as well.
WHAT'S UP EVERYBODY!!
This is gold folks! I love this drill. Whatever you train in, it works!
Hey icy mike. Love your videos man. Doing some Muay Thai and mixing it with some karate and your video you put up on stances a while ago really helped out a lot. I appreciate the hard work you and your peers are putting in and keep up the good work.
So what you describe here is called "footsies" in the Fighting Game Community. (Street fighter, Tekken, Mortal Kombat, etc...). Which is, simply put, the concept of keeping your opponent in striking or kicking range, but stay out of his range.
*Time to workout these feet!*
I saw you make a fist in one of your videos. You didn't completely close your index finger. I studied(study) Shorin Ryu Karate. It's the only time I've seen that fist...do you have a Shorin Ryu background?
Mike hanging with Wonderboy? Instant click! Glad Mike's channel keeps growing. Miss the old live chats at night.
Hold up I thought Icy Michael was like 5'9" but if ST is 6ft... ??????? How tall are you Icy Michael?
when people think about short fighters, they think about flyweights and bantamweights. truth is, there's "Short" fighters in any weight class. For example Daniel Cormier in LHW/HW, sure he's 5'10, but all his opponents are about 6'4 on average. That's a big height/reach diff. Same with guys like mike tyson, mark hunt. mark hunt KO'd stefan struve who is 6'6. so height difference doesn't matter as long you have a good tactic. if anything, weight has a bigger influence in fights than height does
2:18 sensei seth easter egg
Coming from point fighting these moves. They work in full contact as well
Say a bad word, Thompson no approve.
Kick someone unconscious(infight), Thompson approve.
1:00 I kinda just thought a magic censor bleep barrier envelopes Wonderboy, and if you are within 15ft of him, all your swear words get bleeped.. but Mike proved the theory wrong.. or maybe.. since Mike asked permission.. Wonderboys Censor Aura allowed him to curse? 🤔
Pleeeeeease more of you and Wonderboy. I love your dynamics
2:14 XDDDD nobody is gonna know
Mike's reaction to sidekicks hasn't changed from day one LOL, regardless of the superstar karate champion, NOPE
Seth crawling around in the background is priceless! Love y’all’s videos!
Very stupid question & not related to the video much if at all, but I'm gonna ask anyway. Do you think it's possible in 2021 with UA-cam & such to learn conditioning & how to hold your own in a fight at home with no gym? Let's be honest, where you can go for training are few & far between & very expensive plus you have to work around their schedule as opposed to yours which makes it hard to stick with in the 1st place
That outro 😂. Icy Mike you're so hard to hurt that only you can hurt yourself! Big fan 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
How far we've come. From metal cable whips to getting whipped by Wonderboy. Lol
Bruh, just cuz of Wonderboy, I’m subbing. Awesome content!
