Wake up babe, Wildcard Wednesdays are on again And as an aside, I can't wait for Age of the stars, even if we have to wait a while, as it's by far the best of vaati's elden ring stories
For what it’s worth, I believe Rogier doesn’t have a say in whether or not his spirit fights you when summoned by Fia. Whatever is left of him after his death, Fia has complete control over it.
Ranni is a super interesting character, definitely one of the most aloof and mysterious women Miyazaki has ever created, which is saying something because the guy definitely has a type. Getting to know her better during the course of her quest is a very interesting and memorable experience. I’ve played all these games and there’s really not another character quest like it, you really do feel like you’re working towards a grander design together. Also, in Elden Ring you have tons of friends, it’s just kind of a fucked up world and everyone’s personal quests have incredibly high stakes.
Now Age of the Stars is the next movie. Really hope you'll check it out soon. It is in my opinion the best video, Vaati has produced so far. I bet it will blow you away. Also Ranni's ending was the one I had in my first playthrough ^^
The Rogier we fight isn't the actual Rogier it's just a memory of him conjured up by Fia and she only did it to protect herself and her lord(Godwyn). Once she realizes the Tarnished means no harm she entrusts the Tarnished with her mending Rune her entire purpose.
In regards to the death of Godwyn, it is only depicted in the game with a still image of the Black Knives surrounding Godwyn as one of them carves into him the Cursemark of Death. For this video, Vaati and his crew reenacted the scene with in-game assets and animations for our viewing pleasure. He actually does this a lot in his videos for scenes that we hear about but don't witness firsthand.
Fia (she "lays" with corpses and players) had a grip on the fanbse, so many touch starved players hugged her and didn't even care about the consequences of the debuff you get inflicted with while doing so lol.
Living within death like Godwyn was considered illegal in Marika's golden order. By taking the centipede rune and becoming elden lord, you basically make it legal to be a skeleton. Not a bad ending in my eyes. Just another avenue of death and life. Whenever you watch rannis video prepare your minds. In true elden ring fashion, she is not evil or good. She's just another woman with a mission in this terrible Lands Between.
This was absolutely amazing, the only ending i did not get yet. But this is so touching Vati and his team did a amazing job.. this is what that's the element that's missing from this great game... the presentation of these characters... it's all there laid bare, in this game but so easily overlooked, by many, cause the gameplay is so tight and frustrating sometime. These short films are a brilliant addition to this masterpiece.
Kinda unfair that Those Who Live in Death are just people who died, and (not by choice) came into contact with Godwyn’s death root, were forced back to life, and were then hunted and killed by Golden Order zealots like D.
Age of the Stars called, it doesn't appreciate your comment about "favourite Prepare to Cry"!) Great vid, guys, as usual, thanks for being awesome as you are!)
If you guys want to check out the alternate ending that Vaati won't be covering, the Age of Order, I'd definitely recommend checking out someone else's video on it, such as SmoughTown's for example
@@captain02rex vaati quite literally says at the end of this Prepare to cry that the next and last one he'll do for the Elden Ring endings is Ranni's ending
I'm pretty sure I suggested this before but it can't hurt to do it again. The creator has a great series of videos for Sekiro too which I think you will find incredibly amazing. It's called Sekiro Shadows Cry Twice. A play on the game's subtitle combined with the Prepare to Cry theme. :)
Who is to blame in this great tragedy? Marika? Ranni? The Greater Will itself? We, as playing as a Tarnished, as a tool? We are all to blame..The law of regression and causality. The persons with good intentions, those with selfish reasons, and a Outer God.. who is long gone... i think...
There are many cool bosses in the game, but fighting the Lichdragon was probably my favorite surprise, because most dragons fights in the game play out the same way with similar attacks, and then you find this dragon, deep beneath the earth, hidden in a dream, with an awesome move set, truly unique arena design, and who’s reveal comes completely out of no where. Like, before you teleport to the dream in which you fight him, there is zero indication that there will be a dragon encounter, and at this point in the game, the dragons had grown kind of stale. The only problem is that by the time you reach this area, and by the time you figure out how to complete Fia’s quest, which is required to fight the dragon, most people will probably be a high enough life to kill this thing in less than a minute. I don’t know anyone who struggled with this fight, even though on paper it sounds epic. It uses red lightning, more powerful than normal yellow lightning, and uses death lightning, which spawns clouds of death blight that kill you instantly if you stand in them for too long. Death Blight is the only status effect in the game that ignores your health bar and just flat out kills you if you let the meter build up entirely. Other status effects are like bleed, frost, madness, etc, which either pin you in place or do a dangerous amount of damage when they trigger, but death blight is supposed to be the worst of all. And the fight with the Lich Dragon, the black and red thorny dragon that inhabits the dream of the first demigod that ever died, the dragon that stood toe to toe against the golden child of the golden order, the dragon that rips crimson lightning bolts from the sky itself and pierces the earth… the fight just isn’t that hard. It left me feeling awed and upset when I beat him, because I felt rewarded and disappointed at the same time.
The characters that don’t have tragic endings are typically left alone because they have gameplay uses. They usually don’t have any motivations or impact on the lore. There is a pope turtle that teaches you spells if you give him the corresponding scrolls, and he hints at a secret you can find elsewhere, but he doesn’t do anything. There is a little goblin guy that helps alter your armor if you give him a sewing needle, but his quest doesn’t impact the narrative in any way. There is always a blacksmith of some kind in these games, and they are needed throughout your entire play through, so they are guaranteed to be safe. These types of NPC’s don’t really lend themselves to these types of videos that try to have a through line narrative, and so from your perspective, every NPC seems tragic. But I do agree, they don’t offer true friendship in these games without it being a setup for tragedy or trauma. Any NPC that is actively trying to participate in the state of the world or change something usually fail, because one of the most prominent themes in these games is that you, the Player, are the exception to how the world wishes to be. You alone are the only one capable of making real change, be it selfish or selfless. You are supposed to see others fail time and time again, so that when you reach the ending, it really feels like you defied the odds. It’s one of the few things in their games that I disagree with, because it feels disingenuous when you try to treat the characters seriously. Like, some people might receive the intended feelings, but for me when I play these games for the first time, I can’t help but wonder how they will eventually fail. Everyone tells you how dangerous your task or mission is, and how many of them have lost hope or struggle to continue, and I’m like “okay. That’s rough buddy. Why should I take your word for it?” It’s hard to place your trust in any character, and when you do, they betray you or succumb to their self inflicted trials.
Vaati is decent, but he always changes little details and doesn't state things correctly. The cumulative effect of all his little edits makes a different story than the one told in the game. I know he does it to make the video more cinematic, but i can't stand watching it when it's just wrong sometimes.
If you value your sanity, don't play the Dark Souls or Souls Born games. The games are very good and have a massive fan base, but they are ridiculously hard as per From Software ideology that gamers love to be challenged. Elden Ring is no exception. I think it might also be one of the best-selling Souls Bourne games of all time. Personally, I don't feel like dying 20 times just to beat one boss that isn't even that strong compared to the rest of them.
Honestly no hate but that mindset really is a skill issue none of Fromsoft’s games are hardcore in the slightest they just require you to learn & understand the mechanics.
