What was the worst makeup product you tried this year?
the glossier bronzer LOL granted i got it from tjmaxx but it was so patchy so i tried to use it on my eyes and it was just horribleee
For me it was skin care, the E.L.F Hydration skincare line…..it burns my eyes, and I actually broke out! I so wanted to like it, and it works so well for my daughter, but not for me…..😢😢😢
In the past years, I used to go buy the makeup you didn’t like because we had very different taste in makeup and skin type. But as we get older, we agree more and more ! I now buy what you like ! One of my biggest disappointment this year was Rare beauty lip oil 🫣 big fan of the brand but those were not good in my opinion

Haus labs foundation aaah don't be mad but i tried everything. Water base, silicone base, oil etc EVERYTHING. it's patchy, accentuated my pores, settled into fine lines. I'm 30 with good skin. This should've been easy. But noooo.
I love this style of video! Amidst all the consumerism, it’s important to remember that reading reviews and doing your research on a product can go a long way, so thanks for always giving it to us straight! I always tell myself, “You don’t need every new launch because the fact of the matter is that not every product is going to work out for you.”
I love that- it’s such a good mindset! I feel like it’s easy to fall into the hype of new launches but it’s nice to be able to see reviews in order to make a more informed decision.
Your experience with the Fenty wash is what my sister calls empties etiquette. How does the packaging perform at the end of the product's lifespan? Can you get it all, or does the package prevent that? Does it continue to dispense product as it should? We've quit products over poor empties etiquette, especially if it wastes product.
I love that because it’s something we don’t always talk about but it’s so important! I really hate when the packaging causes me to lose out on product, especially expensive skincare!
Oh yeah remember back in the day people cutting open primer potion bottles to get the last out!

Omg those CT blush wands are so pigmented!!! And I love using them as lip color too! The formula is top notch and long wearing ❤but that’s my humble opinion ❤🎉😊
Agreed about the Rare Beauty lip oil! Such a weird formula. I have to constantly re-apply it too. It was one of the few products that had me immediately interested and I bought 3 at once 😭😭😭 never giving in to the hype again! $60 for slimy lip tints that don't even last that well was crazy for me 😂 I learned my lesson. I'll just wait for you to share your thoughts before I drop money like that again haha
Oh my gosh I felt the same way! I was so excited and I probably would have picked up more shades if they didn’t sell out so fast. I was so sad they didn’t work like expected. 😭
Now I'm glad they were all sold out when I went.
worst product of the year
I have to agree. I was so excited to try it, and it was horrible on my lips. I thought it was slippery on my lips, and the stain didn't look good at all. I just thought it was me. Every lip stain or any long-lasting liquid lips I have tried have been horrible. Most were products everyone raves about. I give up. Sticking with gloss and lip oils.
Check out the Romand lip tints! Cheaper and better. Also they don't try and say they're a lip oil when they're not 😂
My worst because of packaging, though the product is a bit hit or miss depending on the day, too, is the Glow Recipe Strawberry BHA Pore-Smooth Blur Drops. The red bottle is cute - but feels like dollar store quality, looks like it too, and it's impossible to get the right amount out! Some days the product is fine, others my skin hates it. Definitely my first miss from a brand I otherwise love.

The Rare Beauty “lip oil” launch was so off. It was an okay glossy lip stain for me, but Rom&nd Glasting Tint is my HG from that category and they recently expanded their color range!
I've not tried the glasting tint. I've tried the juicy tints. I thought that range was being phased out (loads of shades out of stock in multiple places) so I'm glad to hear they're still expanding the shades!

I didn't try a lot of new makeup this year because I've been on a low buy, but the Danessa myricks liquid eyeshadows really disappointed me. They looked amazing when swatched but then once on the eyes they're not shimmery at all. For something like 40$ Canadian, I wanted more. ☹️
it’s a different product, but essence duped the DM multi chrome flakes with two shades. they’re wonderful

Good call on trying out those Too Faced pencils. I have not seen anyone else review those yet! Interesting and original concept from TF but.....they don't plump but cause pain anyway? Ugh 🤦♀

I tried the Inkey List Oat Cleansing balm. I could not get it off my face. 😂 I get that it is a balm but i would prefer not to feel an extra thick layer left on my face. With everything said about them, I was excited to try some products. Now, not so sure.
I feel like this would be better as a mask because it just did not easily wash off when I used it years ago.

I had problems with Saei cream bronzer. Decluttered it. Gave it chances and tried different methods. I coukdn't get it on without patchiness or lack of pigment. I either got a dud or my skin disagreed with it. Women seem to like it. Must be me. I also wasn't a fan of the 2 pk Guilded palettes from Tarte. Patchy and lack of pigment. I'm going to give them another shot because they were expensive. You put out the most honest, thorough, awesome videos I've ever seen. You are very special. Merry Christmas to you and yours

I got one of the Too Faced Chocolate palettes from TJ Maxx a few weeks ago, and it was sooo bad, I actually took it back 😮. I was really interested in the purple shade in it, but I couldn’t get it to even swatch, or show up at all. That was probably the worse palette I’ve ever tried lol.
😭😭 I feel like their shadows used to be so good but part of me wonders if it's just that they were good at the time. Now there are so many amazing formulas they don't seem to compare.
Was it the original chocolate bar? The purples in that were dogshit

I live for the matte beauty blush wands. I don’t wear foundation and it looks amazing on my skin.

This year was the year of SPFs that, for me, didn’t play well with other skincare and/or makeup. Had the same experience with the Inkey. I’m not a minimalist when it comes to skincare, so I need my SPF to play well with other products underneath. I think I tried 3 or 4 this year that pilled like crazy.
I don’t really purchase high end makeup but this is nice to know which ones to maybe skip over . 🙃 Edit - talking about that Too faced eyeshadow I love Moira eyeshadow, I bought the (Unravel ) palette recently and it’s amazing 😍 feels more luxe than the price I paid .
The drugstore brands really are so good! I feel like it’s hard to justify a lot of high end makeup these days.

The rare beauty lop oil is my favorite and use it instead of lipstick. Its all I use.

Re eye liners; try the essence extreme lasting eye pencil in silky nude. I can water line with these and I got them on sale for 2 bucks. So impressed.

I love the Rare Beauty lip oil. It's never not in my purse. I just wish it was easier to pick shades on the website. Wish they had a red one. As for worst products, Patrick Ta shimmering body oil. Dispenser pump never worked so product didn't come out. Waste of money. Fenty foundation stick made my skin look way drier than it really is. And I'm sorry to say, Makeup by Mario ethereal pallet is too light. Have to use tons of product to make it show up and doesn't last all day, even with a primer.
A red one would have been fun! I feel like part of my issue is probably the shade I chose because maybe it's just too light. Thank you for sharing some of the products that didn't work for you! I always love hearing from other people because it's good to read different opinions on products.

The worst mascara I've ever used in my life was the 1 coat mascara by Huda Beauty. I've honestly never seen a mascara this bad.
The essence lash princess mascara does the same thing for me that the fenty does for you. Stinks bc it’s so cheap and makes my lashes look good at first!

For that 2 lip oils, glad that I didn't buy them since there're so many people hate them. Also, I stopped buying lip satins this year, since they spoil so fast, even faster than lip oils

That's crazy, the Fenty mascara looks great on my lashes. I'm not even a mascara person but I like it ☺️😫
It looks really good on my lashes too! I don’t know why it ends up flaking on me because I never have that issue with other mascaras. 😭
No wonder that pinker times ahead too faced palette was on sale for $10 at the cosmetic company outlet store 🤣 i bought it and am sad its not high color pay off but might be good for boring corporate makeup
I like the Huda pressed powder and I find it to be very light and I have dry skin and don’t use much powders 🤷♀️
That Patrick Ta duo looks really orange.
It is super orange! 😭 Even though I shade matched in person I feel like I should have gone with a different one that was a little bit cooler toned.

It’s actually a dual ended eyeliner from Tarte! I think it’s called their Double Take Awake liner and the light nude pencil on the one side stays in place so well!
I purchased 1 rare beauty lip oil
it’s so hit and miss ,I feel like I love it upon first application but it doesn’t reapply well
I do love the stain it leaves behind
I bought the darkest wine color it’s the perfect fall vampy lip

I know this isn’t the topic of your video but you mentioned you love the LYS Setting spray and I’ve been wanting to try it! My question is if it has any smell or fragrance to it? I know it’s clean but I have sensitive skin and I haven’t seen many reviews on it. Thanks!
I haven’t noticed any scent and I feel like I’m pretty sensitive to fragrance these days! It really is such a lightweight formula I think it would definitely be more ideal for sensitive skin than other formulas!

Clicked because I saw the fenty mascara that I have a sample of waiting for me. Trying to keep that one sealed until I use up another mascara. I got so many samples of mascara this winter. I nearly gifted it to someone but glad I didn’t

I really wanted to love the atomic shake lip laquer but it wears so weird and is so filmy I can’t 😢
I hate to say it, but the Rare Beauty loose powder 🙈. It like isn’t strong enough to set your makeup, especially concealer. Was really hopeful since it’s talc free, but was a bust.
I feel that way too! I was let down when I tried it because it didn’t do much for me.
That Too Faced palette really isn't for anyone that isn't pale
Boo, Merit lip oil! I got the other formula but same experience minus the staining. Far too expensive for a less than mediocre experience.
On the other hand, I think Too Faced Italian Spritz was my favourite.

The worst product I tried all year was the merit lip oil. No moisture, no scent, didn’t feel cushy or plush. Just totally underwhelmed!!

I hatttted the Elf Halo Glow blushes. So. Patchy. Difficult to blend even though I started trying to blend immediately and do one cheek at a time. Also even the rose shades pull orange on my skin for some reason.

Of course! I think a platform like Iris really allows for authentic reviews because there’s no incentive not to share your true, honest opinion.
Worst product I tried this year was the Charlotte Tillbury foundation that comes in the squeeze tube. Forgot the name. It just sat on top of my skin and looked so heavy and unnatural. It didn't matter how I applied it, the end result was always terrible. Thankfully didn't pay full price because I got it on sale. Would not recommend.
SLICK WATERLINE EYE PETAL FROM Melt in the shade ivory is just not the best quality,, don't spend your money 🤑
