2020 desperately needs THIS... Always loved this tune, and everything that PMG does...RIP Lyle Mays.
wow spot on we need beauty like this now more than ever!!
I could play this on repeat for years.
My father listens to this all the time.
Objectively viewed it is a masterpiece, no more opinions
I had bought this album in La Guadeloupe during my military service in 1990's
whitout knowing him my life has changes since. I didn't know that this kind of sound could exist, really. the use of colours and rythm trough his music it is just unreal. anyway.
God bless him and his music . thank you Mr Pat Metheny
Oh yeah! You've just gotta laugh after hearing this song. This song is like a warm, tropical breeze after that awful storm that came and scattered everything all over the place. Then, someone, or two, comes along and helps you find everything and put it all back in place with you, expecting nothing in return. (That's happened to me.) After everything's all back in place, they give you a hug and a cheerful peck on the cheek, and you know you've just been so blessed. Today, they're my neighbors! They love this music, too!
So nice!
Ms. Heather, I'm with you on this one. It's one of the best comments I've heard about this tune by Pat Metheny, like everything is going to be alright now.👍🙏
@@garrybelt5458 This and "Slip Away" do it every time for me. I asked my neurosurgeon to play "Slip Away" before I was anesthetized, as I was having major brain surgery in 2009, and the whole team loved that entire album. They played it and more during that surgery, and as I listened to it, I felt all the love from my extended family along with my friends. Even today, I absolutely love his music. The album "Secret Story" is another one of my favorite albums.
Love this song…pat solo is magic ..great Melodie’s in his solo
No doubt about that!

Pat Metheny’s music never ages. The next decade the next century still has its effect.
Man, Pat loves Brazil, you can hear very clear this influence

Heard all pat Methenys songs on watercolors jazz station. Everytime I hear his songs I had to order the CD on line. The voices are his signature! Great peice
Step into the sunlight and new horizon of better days that are now ahead.
This is my song. It has been for years. I can't begin to tell you how it has got me through some tough times.
Suzanne Thompson So Glad to read that, I'm having tough times myself, and I always return to it. Thought it was worth sharing. Best!
@@elbedregal Music helped me too and I offer this thought: in joyous music is heard direct evidence of the universe's benign nature, our only hope, since how else could music be ? Musically, this joy is heard in resolution of subtle harmonic tension (eg this song's bridge/interlude, 2.05-2.11), with shifting chords over a bass pedal), perhaps our act of questioning, followed by resolution to a major key, the universe's answer. Here, the brite-tempo, syncopated melody and samba bounce leave us with extra fizz and happiness when it resolves. Peace and thanks for posting
Say no more Ma'am

Well said!

Samba Samba de Casa , Brazilian at its finest, Tudo de bom de Chicago Estados Unidos!!! Go Pat Metheny Group!!!
Excellent. A 3 minute jazz tune.

Alejandro Herrera awesome tune
Does it give you that warm, calm mood? It did for me. I mean this song.
This song is why I love music. But more important the soul or spirit of it. Thank you so much Pat for this. Words can never describe How this song moves me...
This is probably the leading guitarist in fusion or world music. Superb strumming. Metheny huh, always brilliant.
No "probably" about it - he's an all-time great, the preeminent jazz guitarist of our era :-)
Magica!
Love the quirkiness, the eccentricity of this rather convoluted, happy melody. :-)
Phenomenal
I was in high school when I bought this album (twice), bought the cd (twice) & even went to his concert which sadly he didn’t play. But regardless, something about this song brings me so much happiness & so much positive energy after all these years! And a great song title too! 🇨🇦
I love the quirky, eccentric, lovely, joyful, playful melody. SOooo GOoodd.
Essa música é uma delícia! 😍
Lovett the sound
This song got me through the pandemic. All the better since I was in Brazil for most of it!
Pandemic was worse for us westerners.I was watching webcams round the globe and rio de janiero beach was filled with people constantly!
This guy never ever cease to amaze me
Was privileged with one of his shows here in Italy (Bolzano) at the end of the 80's....Awesome
Omg best of my life
This song is a joyful trip to Bountiful. Incredible.
Getting them Mario Sunshine vibes!
Hey friends how can you not love this song, it is great.
This gets me every time. Mcaa!!!
I love this song!! This song will be my ringston for my mobile phone
Thank you for posting this song by Pat Metheny. It creates an atmosphere of joy you can actually feel. It's the kind of joy they try to describe by sayings like: "That night the stars were falling over Alabama."
more like copacabana
@@miguelrojas2453Yes, this is samba, bro!
It is cool that this song brings joy and the night stars in Alabama.
Wow! The stars fell in Alabama. If you don't already know it, I'd like to share a rendition of that song by the brilliant pianist Keith Jarrett: "Stars Fell in Alabama," from the live LP "Somewhere."
This is Absolutely Beautiful!
I had the privilege to see Pat in live in Peru
PMG's music is simply transcendent. There is nothing like it. Maestros at work.
such an amazing song and melody.
Nice song! Loved it!
Ultimate Soul Feeder.. 🎶🎸❤
During this period in his career, Pat was heavily influenced by Brazilian sounds, especially by guitarist and composer Toninho Horta. He raised that influence to a new level with his own melodic genius.
And Brazilian music is certainly unique....Greetings from Italy
@@Burt472 Thanks but no thanks for that gem of wisdom.
Pat is a composing GOD.
Cool
Whoever did the music for Mario Kart Wii had to have been heavily inspired by Pat Metheny.
Lol I've been thinking about this, googling with no result
Just Nintendo in general
@@johancarlberg1530 I just learned that he wrote this tune in like 1980. When I wrote this comment, I hadn’t seen him live. I’ve gone to see him 3 times now and he’s done this tune every time, the Side Eye version.

SAMBA!!!
+MB, check out this this jazz fusion tune on UA-cam Music: "SAMBA" by Rob Mullins.
I came here after showing my father polyphias new track, and he said "sounds like pat Metheny", pretty cool finding
Today this song has a different meaning to me
Cooler than a fridgidair..
you are smooth!!
What is that sound in the background that sounds like screaming monkeys ? I hear this in a lot of Latin based jazz
Love this song, bought the record when it came out, then the CD. Takes me back to. a better time in my life, experiences and people you can never replace. Another song Better Days Ahead came up in a search by Blue Expresso, a catchy little tune if interested: ua-cam.com/video/1aetbZeQRQM/v-deo.html You can find so much music on UA-cam, one search exposes you to a whole new world of music!
Does anyone know what the bird-like chirping sound (at the beginning and throughout) is? Is it a kind of vocal style or an instrument? Thanks!
I've been wondering this for a while, and I think it's a drum called the cuica
@@TheMegaPalkia2 Yes, I believe so
Phenomenal
I just wanna know what is the instrument that makes that dog-like sound here?
A talking drum ,
@@josephandhelentabris4052 a talking drum? What does that mean? Oh like a midi controller?
