@@superkd7030 - That's true... or rather "trueish", because the only way to buy Arab (and most other) oil is to pay it in USD. Saudi Arabia issued an exception for China but only for them, anyone else has to pay in USD, not even euros are accepted (Iran does accept euros however). That's largely what makes the USD not a mere "fiat currency" (as can be the euro or the yuan or the ruble or the yen) but a veritable black-gold-backed currency. Look up "Ford's ECOnetic Fiesta Gets 65 MPG". This is a car developed and sold in Europe. The REAL problem? (From the Ford website) "Ford Europe goes all-in on EVs on road to sustainable profitability; Cologne site begins $1 billion transformation". NO amount of a "tariff tax" is going to fix poor business decisions.
Ford and GM (under the Opel brand) were pretty succesfull in the EU. But not with the US models. Basically Ford Focus and smaller did OK. But no one will get an F-150 or V8 mustang here. Cant park them and way too high fuel consumption.
If the tariffs on US autos are reduced, the big US automakers might be incentivized to design and build cars that appeal to European buyers. The price and the quality will have to be competitive.
What NEEDS to be done? Convince "The EU" (OR the individual countries) that there is NO threat from "The East". THEN they don't NEED to buy from USA..... Which defeats the US Arms industry. IF the "Rest of the World" GROWS UP, THEN treats USA like the kid throwing a tantrum, There's a CHANCE to change EVERYTHING
Did it occur Lutnick that Europe doesn't want Ford and GM vehicles because gasoline costs $12 per gallon there and US automakers they only produce SUVs and pickups?
Indeed, but where does Trump'n'co think the extra spending currency is coming from coz most yanks are already in massive debt. Stuff will cost more but less will be bought. Zero improvement for the GDP.
The overall impact will hit consumers who are already struggling to pay bills. Which is about 90% of people in the U.S. -- and especially bleak for the bottom 50%.
@@lolly_bread I see another smart move coming, starting with China. Example, EVs USA "100% TARIFF!!" China, "Your're no worth the hassle... WE are selling everywhere BUT the US" THEY jump to Mexico, Brazil, etc , etc They Decimate any remaining sales the US companies had in those and surrounding countries. They sell EVERY vehicle. They ALSO arrange massive reciprocal trade with those countries (And BETWEEN them) to compensate for and avoid the inevitable threats from the US. Now multiply across 150 countries and thousands of products. FINAL move, ditch the USD. The US is then "The Bully in the corner" surrounded by those they USED TO BULLY.
@@lolly_bread He thinks if he demolishes taxes, he can get the deficit back from tariffs... It worked in the 60-70s, but today will never work... But well it's Trump we are talking about , there is no company he can't bankrupt... an entire country would be a new record and not impossible.
Do people not realise Ford manufacture and sell a million plus vehicles in Europe each year. GM used to manufacture in Europe until they sold Opal. Nobody in Europe is going to buy US market SUVs and pickups, that’s all Ford and GM has to offer, with the exception of the Mach E.
The rest of the world should let the US be as it is and instead concentrate trade with other countries to be less reliant in exporting everything to the US.
Been saying that for decades. I've been advocating that Canada needed to diversify its trade partners around the word and divest itself as much as possible from it reliance for the US market place. My arguments basically fell on deaf ears for the most part. Now it seems Canada and Canadians have finally come around to my way of thinking. We are going to have to strike out on our own, develop new markets in the Global South and form alliances and pacts with organizations such as BRICS and the EU and basically tell the US to sod off and go pound salt. It will not be easy nor painless to do this and we are going to be in a world of hurt in the short to mid-term, but in the end we would come out both stronger and better off economically. We just need to political will and courage to do it.
Even since the I.S. blew up the Nord Stream pipeline, Europe & the U.K., still get most of their gas from Russia, it just comes through different pipelines, now, & costs them a lot more for the privilege!
Not as easy as it sounds. A lot of those EU countries side with the u.s to sanction china, russia and some countries of the global south. China said months ago BRICS won't allow western countries who have supported/sanctioned against global south countries. So, those countries are just backstabbed by the U.S now 😂😂😂.
Well, it's the American consumers and corporations that pay the tariffs, not the exporting nations. Tariffs can harm exports without a doubt, but there are some commodities that the US cannot not do without, such as Canadian energy, I say if they put a tariff on them, then make it even more expensive to the US consumers by removing the price discounts the US is enjoying. That way they can get screwed by both their government and Canada.....it might wake the silly buggers up a bit.
This guy Howard Lutnick you have shown in this video is COMPLETELY WRONG!! There are NO 100% Tariffs on USA made Ford Motor Corporation Vehicles in Europe or the UK. Ford DOES NOT import ANY vehicles into Europe! This is because USA made vehicles DO NOT meet European Union vehicles pollution emissions stands and fuel efficiency standards. That why Ford MANUFACTURES it’s vehicle for the European market, IN EUROPE, incompliance with European Union vehicles pollution emissions stands and fuel efficiency STANDARDS. Ford does not IMPORT vehicles from the USA into Europe, BECAUSE, it actually MANUFACTURES VEHICLES for the European market, IN EUROPE!! This man does not know anything about Fords production policies in Europe. He’s talking a lot of BS!!
If Trump is deporting Foreigners, why would foreign investors want to turn up there in the USA, more over it would impact their investment because they will not be able to find skilled highly trained Employees. The cost to move is also a Financial set back.
I'm still laughing at Trump's words, "If you don't move your industry to the US, you'll have to pay a tariff which will direct trillions of dollars into our treasury to strengthen our economy". It's beyond belief, he's STILL trying to pretend it's FOREIGN countries, not American consumers, who will end up paying the tariff.
I know right. And I'm sure they will be flabbergasted when everyone will just slap the tariff on top of the sticker price in USA and it will all fall on consumer to pay for it.
The difference this time is that providers to th US have now realized there are worldwide markets and they can redistribute their coods like colombia proposed and mexico simply suspended, not to mention closing their own frontiers for "security" but in fact stopping flow from south america to USA.
I know in Canada with a new government coming in, were looking at pipeline expansion. These Trump tariffs are going to cripple us short term. However at least people are waking up to the American game. More people are talking brics and European markets.
We're still looking at pipeline expansion. We need to get gas and oil to Europe and Asia. That means getting it to the coast for shipping to those energy hungry economies if America can't afford it. Predicting inflation starting to rise again this quarter while leading indicators showing economy slowing (not to mention government figures pumped up for their Gain side). Global economy very weak which affects US. Fed dropping rates 0.50 shows they're VERY worried about financial downturn/crisis. interest rates coming down are also an indication banks are LESS willing to loan money into existence. The question here is where is the inflation going to come from in the near term? Consumers are mostly tapped out which is 70% of US economy (consumption). Yes inflation very likely to return but not before it continues to come down... Inflation can be a concern, but remember, certain assets like stocks and Crypto’s acts as a hedge. @LuisAldamiz The US only have purchasing power for as long as other countries use dollar, but thats decreasing now. So how are they going to keep printing money when is less needed? We are not in the 50s anymore and America is overstaying their welcome.
That's what has allowed the USA to issue almost endless debt and spread around globally the resulting inflation: the USA "prints money" and the global prices go up. It's what is widely called the Petrodollar Scheme but, as Lee Camp reported a year or two ago, don't look for it in Wikipedia, it's a censored or heavily manipulated subject by the political commissaries that control many aspects of that suppossedly crowdsourced referential outlet.
We're not in the 1950s anymore, indeed, it was only in the 70s that the Petrodollar Scheme was forged by Nixon, soon after dropping the gold standard.
HA HA HA HA HA !!!! THE WEST IS EATING ITSELF !!!!! GREAT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Isn't that a beautiful sight to behold.
Yup, I'm afraid this will create massive inflation but make us more dependent on US (government beholden) corporations.
If that perception is what it takes for everyone else to stop being useless I'll gladly accept that perception
All started by one person. Unreal.
It has a fever. Fevers are good for eliminating infections.
Ford and GM can't sell in Europe or anywhere else, they're too big to fit on the roads or in the parking bays and burn too much fuel,
Exactly. Best selling Ford car in Europe? Not the F-numbers. The no longer made Fiesta.
Thing is they have no clue. They think everyone else lives like they do and wants to drive f-150 to pick up the groceries from the shop across the street 😂
Time to stop buying all the US items we can.
Already have, long ago......
I wonder if the EU would consider putting tariffs on military equipment from the US
What NEEDS to be done?
Convince "The EU" (OR the individual countries) that there is NO threat from "The East".
THEN they don't NEED to buy from USA..... Which defeats the US Arms industry.
IF the "Rest of the World" GROWS UP, THEN treats USA like the kid throwing a tantrum, There's a CHANCE to change EVERYTHING
Absolutely Not because it's EU government that pays Not private company's. And you. Don't sell F 16 in the shops 😂😂😂😂
HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR !!!

Did it occur Lutnick that Europe doesn't want Ford and GM vehicles because gasoline costs $12 per gallon there and US automakers they only produce SUVs and pickups?
True. U.S. small cars are crap and they make very few. Europeans don't want the tank sized vehicles. 🤣
"To be an enemy of the US is dangerous, but to be a friend is fatal"

Putin trying to be a friend signing the Minsk accord was a tough lesson learned!
The EU already has a tariff, it is the VAT. It is super high as well, over 20%.
TAX is a deterrence to investors.
True. But that is a real sales tax. Tariffs are also a tax but not paid as directly as a sales tax.😉
VAT is only paid buy the EU..

Tarrif paid by USA consumers
Indeed, but where does Trump'n'co think the extra spending currency is coming from coz most yanks are already in massive debt.
Stuff will cost more but less will be bought. Zero improvement for the GDP.
The overall impact will hit consumers who are already struggling to pay bills. Which is about 90% of people in the U.S. -- and especially bleak for the bottom 50%.

I see another smart move coming, starting with China.
Example, EVs
USA "100% TARIFF!!"
China, "Your're no worth the hassle... WE are selling everywhere BUT the US"
THEY jump to Mexico, Brazil, etc , etc
They Decimate any remaining sales the US companies had in those and surrounding countries.
There are some, usually status seeking noobs with too much money in their hands......
Ford sold 426,307 cars in Europe in 2024.
Oops
The rest of the world should let the US be as it is and instead concentrate trade with other countries to be less reliant in exporting everything to the US.
It's what they are doing. for some Nations is easier than others, but they are shifting.
Trumpet is as thick as two short boards.
The EU doesn't need to worry because Ursula said the EU should buy more gas from the US because it is cheaper.
🤣
Only Ursula is getting richer with her kickbacks.
She is on the US payroll book?
The pirate of Brussels cursula con Der lying has the EU in tatters tatters I tell you 😂😎
Even since the I.S. blew up the Nord Stream pipeline, Europe & the U.K., still get most of their gas from Russia, it just comes through different pipelines, now, & costs them a lot more for the privilege!
Lol cheaper it's far more expensive
Just don't trade with USA, then don't have to pay tariffs.
😂😂😂
Excellent analysis! Great job!
Does that surprise you under T administration?
He is insane! Ford (Focus and fiesta) was the most bought car brand in the UK for Decades!
If Trump is deporting Foreigners, why would foreign investors want to turn up there in the USA, more over it would impact their investment because they will not be able to find skilled highly trained Employees. The cost to move is also a Financial set back.
To stop Tarrifs find trade with other country's and stop exports to the US! Then you can't be charged with Tariffs!
Unfortunately, some Americans believe it.
It is just to convince those supporting him; as these people don't recognize who is actually paying the tariffs.

I'm sure China, with its trillion dollar trade surplus will be happy to buy. Europe is a little iffy since they're broke and broken by poor leadership.

Long & short-term trading is generally safer, allowing investors to weather market volatility.
