- {738} Comparator Circuit Explained, Comparator Circuit Using Single Supply Quad
Comparators LM339, AS339M-G1, LM339E, LM239, LM2901, LM2901E, LM2901V, NCV2901, MC3302 These comparators are designed for use in level detection, low−level sensing and memory applications in consumer, automotive, and industrial electronic applications. These quad comparators feature high gain, wide bandwidth characteristics. This gives the device oscillation tendencies if the outputs are capacitively coupled to the inputs via stray capacitance. This oscillation manifests itself during output transitions (VOL to VOH). To alleviate this situation input resistors 10 k should be used. The addition of positive feedback ( 10 mV) is also
recommended. It is good design practice to ground all unused input pins.
Differential input voltages may be larger than supply voltages without damaging the comparator inputs. Voltages more negative than −300 mV should not be used. The LMx39 and LM2901x are quad comparators with the ability to operate up to an absolute maximum of 36 V on the supply pin. This standard device has proven ubiquity and versatility across a wide range of applications. This is due to very wide supply voltages range (2 V up to 32 V), low Iq, and fast response of the device. The open-drain output allows the user to configure the output logic low voltage (VOL) and allows the comparator to be used in AND functionality.
The comparator operates solely as a voltage comparator, comparing the differential voltage between the positive and negative pins and outputting a logic low or high impedance (logic high with pullup) based on the input
differential polarity.

Excellent lesson! Excellent start to the week! I'd like to try this circuit and see how this is different than an op amp. I believe that if you built this using an op amp the led would glow gradually bright in linear fashion, with the comparator the led is just on or off. Have a great day!
best regards
yes it can be made using opamp
but the basic comparator circuit is a decision making circuit, by sensing differential voltage at both pins
Thank you so much you are the best, you saved my autonomous car project and the scholarship.
Simple like that,
Thanks for sharing
most welcome
Thank you for your valuable lessons!

Thanks.....
You're welcome!
useful knowledge can be put into practice directly, thank you 👍
best regards and special thanks
sure we will do practical circuits
Very interesting any application that ic can we use ?
Best regards from Philippines 🇵🇭
it is widely used in battery chargers, for controlling charging, discharging, level indication, oscillators, triggers, level detectors, zero crossing detectors
almost every power electronic circuit have this ic
i will continue with this ic to share its practical uses
@@HaseebElectronics interesting series let's continue on that 👍

Salam . But whay you used the pull up resistor 10 k ohm you said open colector. Thank you
wa alaikum salaam brother
it is its construction is open collector output, and it is in manufacturer datasheet. there are many features left behind, we will discuss them in upcoming session. it was just its basic working principle

welcome dear brother. this ic is just to monitor voltage and check for over voltage, under voltage, over current conditions. most of time this ic is working normally, but due to above reasons, it creates "disable" signal to the pwm controller ic (TL494 or KA7500), mostly it controls pin number 4 of the above pwm controllers. this ic damges rarely

what is the wattage of series reisitor and parallel reisitor
1/4 or 1/2 watt resistors are suitable
Halo.sir
How can test comparator ic HA17324A with multimeter??
What i understand is that when output is positive is shortin the base to the ground and led turns on, but when is not possitive the vcc pass from collector to emitter and the led turns off?????????
Can we connect a 12v relay to this output. I tried but relay is not picking. Why so sir?
Good 👍👏👏👋

Super great information! Thank you.

Plz make a video on microcontroller stabilizer working
How does a feedback resistor works between output and input ?
Sir how reduce noise in power supply of am radio reciver..
Why don't we use zeenar diode to make a comparator?
Please make video for the op amp also..thanks!

Sir I request for one question from last 4days.Sir what is primary side feedback. 12volt 8amp smps with ic LNK6666E without optocoupler and TL431. How I get 14 volt from this smps.
You are the best 👏
Thank you
Very nice video ! it is nice that you start slowly by the begining as i got very comfused when i see an LM on a PSU, now i am more confident in my repairs. Thanks & Salam Aleikum.

Haseeb sir good morning, while non inverting pin voltage is less then inverting pin then in which state output pin like it will connect to ground or zero volt open drain? pls elaborate. thanks for nice video
0 Volts....
If non-inv input higher than inv input the output go higher (i think it's 5~8 volts not sure)
If non-inv input lower than inv input the output go lower (0v)
Excellent work 👍
