it's because this film is not meant to be understood by a complete 'tabula rasa', there is a lot of deep symbolism here that can't be understood before having the prerequisite knowledge. The title "THE GREATEST story ever told" doesn't actually refer to any particular story, rather, it refers to a template by which most if not all great stories are written.

Krishna, one of the 10 Avataras of Lord Vishnu in Hinduism, was not born to a virgin. He was the eight child of Devaki, the wife of Vasudeva. Bringing in Krishna to compare with Jesus or others here is misleading.

As a Christian, I see no problem in finding out that world myths told stories similar to Jesus's life. If the Saviour were to come to this world, then the world needed to be prepared by shaping the hearts and minds. And I also doubt that the writers of the Gospels could be in possession of all those details about other people's mythologies. All these coincidences are a gift to Christianity.

Interesting but Christ's association with the winter solstice is an entirely Roman invention to continue the celebration of pagan Saturnalia. Close reading of Matthew indicates that Jesus was born in the spring. Lambing season is the only time shepherds stay with their flocks thru the night. Spring is also the preferred time of travel in Judea of the time. Summer is hot and fall and winter have a scarcity of forage for the animals. From all accounts the early Christians did not refer to themselves as such but were Jews that celebrated Passover only.

You can can Christianity a lot of things, but you can't call it a sun worshipping religion as this movie claims.
I'm a Christian who's open to hearing out opposing views and am willing to forsake Christianity if the Christ of history did not die and resurrect. Someone told me to watch this video, to keep an open mind, and not to let anyone influence the way I perceive it.
I was definitely shocked, but this doesn't disprove Christianity. Being generous, even if all the information about the other gods and the astrological signs are true, that doesn't automatically conclude that Christ is a myth like them. There's overwhelming evidence for the real Christ of history. Nearly all historians, Christian or not, agree on these facts:
1. Jesus of Nazareth was a real person
2. He was a Jewish rabbi who had followers
3. He was crucified and confirmed dead under the Roman official Pontius Pilate
4. His many followers claimed to have seen him alive again after his death and were unwilling to renounce their claims at the threat of punishment and death, dying for those claims.
To say otherwise would get you laughed off by every serious historical scholar.
And this is without mentioning, as I suspected, later found out and others pointed out, most of the info in this movie are just bold-face lies passed as facts.
If you don't want to be a Christian, just say it. You don't need to believe this to justify it.

Years ago when I was young I prayed to Jesus, my prayer wasn't answered the way I wanted but he showed me his existence. One night while sleeping I woke up at four in the morning, the room was dark and I looked at the wall where a prayer reminder was and saw to my surprise that the cross was glowing white light as white as morning snow . This happened the next night too at the same time. I've owned this cross for almost a year but hadn't seen it glow before. After those two nights I expected it to glow yet again but it never did. Thank you Jesus for dying on the cross for our sins. Amen

Interesting information here. No wonder Jesus said, "All that came before me are thieves and robbers.." (John 10). Satan knew about the "seed of the woman" in the garden of Eden and went about creating false iterations of him, to discredit his validity. The Bible made no mention of three wise men; the wise men did not meet Jesus as a baby. Sunday worship was introduced by Rome. True believers in Jesus had/have no special day of worship. Easter has nothing to do with His resurrection. The cross was not the symbol of Christianity until Rome made it so. The true believers were not a part of Constantine's false religion wherein he converted pagan gods to saints. Jesus wasn't just crucified, He gave his life to save the world. He did not establish any religion and neither did his disciples. There is something called Christian religion, but it has no endorsement from Him. Multiplied millions have experienced the life-changing power of Christ and are witnesses that He is alive. That there are fakes does not invalidate the original. It only supports the fact there is something of great value that the evil one wants to undermine. Jesus - the true Christ - is real.
I first saw this video that my some brought home from that he had stolen/found/borrowed from school when he was 5 years old, which had got me thinking what is he doing with the USB stick with this on it.
So I took it and looked at it, on it had a video call Zeitgeist and from the start of the full movie that this taken from had me hooked, line and sinker because
If you take out all the crap about other religions having very similar attributes, one has to wonder what else they would be looking at night time 2,022 years ago or more should I say. It was there way on knowing which way to go, as there were no compasses at that time, in the day it would be different, they know which way to go due to the sun position in the sky.
If one is to go out in the middle of know where with no light sources from anywhere else, you would be amazed by the stars at night. This would have been done by all and taught back then.
And with the location of these religions where they are based which is line with the equator, they would all see the suns movements in the same way, thus all having the same view at the skies. Which I think why these religions that are around the equator have old strictures mentioning the movements of the sun. Even the Inca's studied the stars thousands of years before the thought of tinkle in the mans balls to produce the man who thought about building the first Pyramid.
Try finding some literature on this from the South. You won’t, because we don’t see these three days where the sun dances, nor did the Indigenous people here in Australia, and these people I believe have been longer on this earth than the Pyramids.
People back then were primitive, so was the brain to know anything else. What you would have learned about is being street smart these days, back then it would have been star smart. This is very interesting, but the part about Dionysus just really had me laughing. That was a Horrible choice to try to make this connection. He was one of Zeus's many many children, conceved through intercourse, so claiming that he was ever called the "only begotten son of God" or that he was born of a virgin mother really calls the rest of your claims into question.
@Jason Beetleborn In no culture does "virgin" equate with "not married". Virgin means "pure" or "untouched", and the whole point of Marry being a virgin is that Jesus was born without sin. But many religions considered consensual sex outside of marriage to be sinful. Born to a woman outside of marriage (or in the case of the Greeks, a lot of them were the result of rape, even if they were married to someone other than the father) is one thing, but to call them "virgin" births just to claim that there is a connection is completely incorrect.
@@paulaurban7456 Terminology. An immaculate conception is when a virgin nun has a child out of wedlock. She wasn't supposed to have children. If the story was real or taken from a real story from then, that was a slang way of saying she got knocked up and we forgive her.

Weird then why does the historian Josephus Flavius mention Jesus and why did they find the tablet with Pontius Pilate, along with historical evidence of the other historical characters in the bible? Including the old testament? Even Egypt has evidence of Moses existing in its hieroglyphs. Have you guys ever read the case for Christ
First off, the short passage in Josephus that mentions Jesus is a forgery. It was placed there by the monk Eusebius centuries later. And, yes, Pontius Pilate was a historical figure - but that still doesn't prove Jesus. If I wrote a story where Spiderman met with President Biden, would that make Spiderman real because Biden is real? Of course not. And ,no, there are no Egyptian records of any Moses nor of any exodus from Egypt. Yes, I have read The Case For Christ - wasn't impressed. That the bible mentions some historical figures only gets you to the bible being pseudo-historical fiction, nothing more. It's an attempt to do some "name-dropping" to give the illusion of credibility. Sorry, but your Jesus remains a fictional character. Even if I thought there was a real person behind the stories, I still wouldn't accept any "miracles" since miracles are by definition impossible.

The reason I said My journey started in August is because that is all I truly know for certain, since prior to that I was but millions of water molecules spread around the Earth in millions of different life forms, from a blade of grass, to a bird.. The water molecules in our body are as old as the universe itself and came to the earth on the backs of comets 3.8 billion years ago. And since that time they have went through a continuous cycle of evaporation, perspiration and condensation, being used in the creation of millions of other life forms before creating you and I and they will continue this cycle here on earth until our "Sun God" expands during his death and consumes the earth. I do believe the Zeitgeist story of the "SUN of God" is far more plausible than the Christian's mythology.

Please read: I remember the first time I watched this film. I was in 7th grade, young and naive. I believed every single drop. I took this all in as fact. I am now 26 years old (still young but not as naive), I have earned three degrees including a doctorate. I am not a religious person although I was raised catholic; I am far too skeptical and science-driven. Anyways, I now watched this film again having studied: law, theology, political science, and international relations, (I have degrees in all of those except theology). I have to admit, this movie is spreading misinformation and unfactual information. All I ask is that you research everything you see here independently, I lost track of the amount of wrong or inaccurate statements this film made. I was wondering how such a poorly made film could become so popular and then I remembered the amount of uneducated and/or lazy people there are in this world. One thing I learned after 26 years is that there are those who believe everything authority tells you, and then there are those who believe everything the guy who criticizes the "authority" tells you. Be your own person. Be in the middle. Respect authority but question the hell out of it. If you want to reach out to talk about this movie or other major controversial topics like these, reach out. I am open-minded to ALL ideas.

Interesting. I did t know if I believed before but I am sure starting to. It would make sense to me that if Science was also created by its creator that the world is telling us the story constantly by God himself who created it. To boot that the story would be told over and over by people who never knew one another, nor spoke the same language nor had any means of communication to consistently come up with the same story sounds to me like nothing less than being inspired by something. If I go about my day and a friend tells me what they had for lunch, by the time I get home and try and repeat what he said, surely I’m going to screw it up. Mere hours and yet I will screw it up. The information presented here is looks to be presented very eloquently and fit together just like lego blocks, creating an entire theory extremely simple and logical, but it's not true. In ancient Egypt, because this video argues that Christianity is nothing than an Egyptian religion, Ra was the god of the Sun, but not quite [just] the sun. In stories the sun was simply put the eye of Ra, a different god itself, that Ra used to look over the land. Horus, his grandson, was the personification of Ra at noon, when the sun is at the zenith. So it's way more complex than God = Sun. Neither the "sky daddy" nor the "force of life" are equal with the sun and remember that this is the Father person from Christianity God. Now, in the case of Horus and Jesus, things can be similar, but, again, not quite true. Egyptians didn't even had 4 seasons, they had 3: the flood, the sowing of seeds and the reaping of crops. Psychological studies have found that adulthood follows adolescents but a lot of people never grow up enough and die without seeing the light. I'm pretty sure that there will be found another stage of development that we haven't found before because most people were lucky to get past adolescents. We shall see.
