Super Spartan Race 2012 Phoenix, Arizona Rawhide

Super Spartan Race February 11, 2012 in Rawhide, Arizona captured on a GoPro HD head mounted camera. Most of footage had to be edited out to be watchable, which makes the obstacles look a lot shorter than they really were. Hopefully the video still gives you a taste (in 8 minutes) of what the race was like. I was in the 10:30am wave and my time was 2:25:31. This race had the best obstacles of the mud runs I've attempted and was notably better than last years Super Spartan race. The radio clips in the background were captured incidentally/accidentally and are protected under fair use; no audio tracks were added or requested.

It was type of pulley excercise machine where the resistance comes from a spinning fan/weight at the bottom. All of the work is on the down stroke and measured/displayed on a small LCD screen. In this Spartan race the goal is reset to 200 units of who knows what for each runner and you have to work it down to zero, which took about a minute if I remember correct.

No, I just brought one battery which lasts about 2.5 hours. My strategy was to stop the recording before any long stretches of running to save battery as well as to make the clips more manageable for editing. I only had about 15 mins of reserve battery at the finish.
